A personalized plan is made for each student depending on their goals and level of commitment. Intensity varies depending on what the student wants out of lessons. Some students are singing/playing competitively, and some are just singing/playing for fun!

At each lesson the student will play or sing the songs they practiced. Julia will congratulate the student on their improvements and then use a variety of methods to help the student become more comfortable with the trouble spots. The next part of the lesson will be used to introduce new material.

I have taken several guitar lessons with Jules via FaceTime, and I've learned so much! It is so nice to be able to learn how to play an instrument from my own home. The lessons were tailored to me and my own progress. She not only teaches chords and notes, but the music theory behind the chords, which can be applied to any instrument. Each lesson with her is more rewarding than the last.

Doniell has been exceedingly accomodating of our schedule, making it absolutely pleasant to work with her. We are a homeschool family and she offered time outside of evening hours. We had several illnesses and issues with travel during the snow this past winter and she has always been understanding and patient with rescheduling. Our daughter is very enthusiastic about piano and many things in life, we are thankful we have Doniell to guide her as she continues to develop a passion for music.

I taught piano for years looking for a method that was comprehensive, engaging, creative and practical, but I couldn't find it, so I decided to create the Brain-Based Piano Method: a Mindful, Comprehensive Approach to fill this need. It incorporates the latest scientific understanding on how we learn and encourages students to build an understanding of the basic concepts of music, develop the habit of making connections and create their own compositions.

About Leidys
Hi, I love to teach children as young as 3 years old using my own Brain-Based Piano Method, a Mindful and Comprehensive Approach. My method is fun, engaging, effective and practical. My students learn to understand how music works. They learn from early on the basics of music: ear training, music theory, form, piano technique, reading and writing notes, and more. But more than anything else, I encourage my students to be creative from the very beginning. My method is a complete system for learning the piano that includes books, CDs, rewards, teaching materials and video tutorials accessible online. My goal is that my students learn how to perform with confidence and to create their own music. I want to make sure that they see the connections present in music and that they transfer all that knowledge to other aspects of their lives. Thanks

My daughter loves going to piano class, and asks when she is going back. I am amazed by the things that she has learned so quickly, and in such a short period of time. Each class introduces her to something new, or allows her to strengthen her skills in a new way. This method of teaching piano is so innovative because my daughter has learned how to play the right and left hand of a musical score with clapping and body movements. She has also learned to conduct, play with 5 fingers, and sing songs. All of this, and she has only had 4 classes. The connection to math and reading are amazing, and are evident during each moment. Highly recommended.

If you would like to learn how to play your favorite pop song, standard classical pieces, or just learn the basics of piano, study with me! I will be sure to teach you how to read music notation, understand all types of rhythms, improve technique with chords and scales, and discover artists to listen and learn from.

About Alexandra
I received my Bachelors from UMASS Amherst in trumpet performance and music education. While attending I was trained to become an educator for K-12 grades, receiving experience as an elementary and high school assistant. I have taught private lessons for the past 6 years to all age groups. Throughout the years I have learned a lot about various teaching methods, the importance of curriculum, and how to hold a student's interest.

Recently, while attending NYU to receive my Masters in Jazz Performance, I have been teaching Undergraduate non-music major students trumpet and piano. All of these students have varied in musical expertise, interest in artists/genres, and of course personality and learning style. Through this I have gained much experience in how to teach the same concept different ways. Reading music, classical and jazz tongu
ing, phrasing, sight reading, and range are just a few concepts I focus on with students.

As a classical trumpet player, I understand the demands of becoming a soloist or orchestral member through learning the necessary repertoire and technique. As a jazz trumpet player, I am able to teach ear training, how to create lines and understand harmony, as well as the physical demands of range and articulation.

I am also able to teach piano, I have 4 years of classical piano experience. In addition to my personal studies and teaching experiences. I have taught piano to a range of age groups as well (5-25). Based on skill level, I use certain method books to include scales, chords, reading music, rhythm, and basic musicianship skills.

It would be wonderful to have you as my student, to train, work, and grow together as great musicians!

I was an older student but beginner trumpet player when I first started taking lessons from Alex. I didn't have much of a musical background but her clear passion about the trumpet, and her enthusiasm, patience and encouragement as a teacher made me a fan of the trumpet as well. Her lessons were varied and tailored to fit my experience level and individual playing style which kept them interesting. By introducing different and creative ways to work on technique Alex continued to make me a better player. I would highly recommend her.

My great grandmother, grandmother and mother were all music teachers, and I'm thrilled and honored to have followed in their footsteps! I work hard to make sure that my joy in making music is passed on to you or your child.

About Julia
I'm a passionate professional vocalist and a fourth generation music educator. With 20+ years of professional performing, coaching and teaching experience under my belt, my vocal teaching method unites my classical and musical theatre educational background with the techniques I have developed for singing Jazz, Rock, R&B, Country, etc believably, beautifully, and above all, safely!

In expanding my teaching practice to include piano and ukulele, I emphasize rhythm and musicality alongside technique and note reading. I always set myself the goal of learning what makes a musician sound "right," and not just "good" in a particular genre. This versatility has made me extremely employable as an artist, and, I think, uniquely qualified to teach. I believe that students will work harder on music that moves them, and I always encourage students
to suggest songs that they care about. Good technique(s) can be applied to any repertoire!

We are very happy with Julia's teaching of piano to our young daughter.
Julia deftly adapted her instruction to accommodate our daughter's interactivity level, and never over-praised, as modern psychology says is the correct way.
Our daughter practices spontaneously on her own, which can be at least partially attributed to Julia's teaching style.

Thank you, Julia.
