Hello! I have a passion for helping students feel empowered and confident through the use of their voice, whether personal or professional. As someone who has struggled with and recovered from a vocal pathology, I feel that I have a unique perspective on the emotional taxations and challenges that vocal work can bring up. I strive to use compassion and the "love and logic" methodology with all of my students. I am passionate about voice pedagogy and voice science, and use a more anatomically based approach in my teaching, rather than metaphorical.
I received my master's degree in voice performance from the University of Northern Colorado in 2017, and hold a bachelor's in music education which I obtained from Colorado State University in 2013. I am a performing mezzo-soprano in a variety of genres, and I have a passion for teaching many different styles including classical, jazz, and musical theater.
I teach ages 12 and up!

I had the misfortune of having a mentor say to me that no one is going to watch a musical that is not based on a book or movie especially when written by someone without national star power.
To that I say there is nothing more fantastic in this world than walking into a theatre with no real knowledge of what you are about to experience and then being taken into another world. I have no interest in Hot Tub Time Machine the Musical or another rehashing of the "a girl tries to get into show business" story line. These stories have been told to death already.
I intend on teaching you how to write a character driven story which is compelling and challenging. I want your music to enhance every chapter and connect with the audiences emotions.
You are brilliant, creative, and you can do it, it's already in you and I am happy to help you let it out!
Music is simply part of my blood and for me music is theatre, drama, tension, release, story and this is why I love musicals so much. My first instruments were ukelele and guitar when I was about six years old and I was in choirs before kindergarten all the way through college. In Jr. High I ta

I am a self-taught musician with 15 years of experience playing electric and acoustic guitar. My lessons begin by learning what inspires you as a musician, and working to take you where you want to go! Learning some of your favorite songs is often a great place to start. By learning a variety of music, you'll quickly begin to notice patterns & understand basic theory on what notes work together well. From there, you can apply that knowledge to improvisation, as well as songs you may want to write!
From those first few lessons, there's a million different ways we can explore the guitar together. With my lessons, I offer recording time in my home studio where you can learn how to write, record, produce, and mix fully arranged songs!
Reach out to say hi, and let me know what some of your immediate goals and questions are!

What I like about our lessons is that he's a great listener. He can hear where I need work and he offers not just one but often several exercises and riffs that address the issue. In addition, he knows the blues, the players, the songs, and the harp riffs for reference. To top it off his manner is light and warm. I feel honored to be learning from him."
The teacher is nice and patient, My daughter just turned 4 when she first started the lesson. I was afraid she was going to find this difficult and boring. But instead she has enjoyed each lesson and has made surprising progress. The lesson is talored to her short attention span, mixed with games and fun motivation. We have enjoyed the lessons."
Studies have shown that children who study music perform better in other subjects than their peers. One of the reasons for this boost is the creative thinking skills that music teaches. Even if you don't have formal music training, there are many things you can do to build a love for music in your child. It's never too early to start - even newborns enjoy listening to soothing lullabies. Below, check out of the different types of songs to sing that can encourage creativity in your toddler, presc …
