About Jared

I have been teaching guitar almost 20 years and as an instructor, My teaching method comes from a curriculum I have developed which uses popular guitar driven rock tunes as musical etudes. Educating the student with valuable theory, reading, technique, and scale theory, while remaining fun. As a so

I am 4 or 5 lessons in with Jared and I am truly and entirely thrilled with the progress I am seeing and the depth of guitar knowledge I have gained. Jared has a way of teaching that not only allows for actually playing right away but learning the foundations of knowing the guitar and music. I can see that this allows for not just playing "songs" but making music of my own. This is the freedom of "knowing" the guitar.

Headline: Jared is amazing teacher.
Jared has excellent knowledge of music foundations and music theory.
Knows styles and genres, knows not only how to play but create too... And how this style was born.
He helps to build habit to do things right - I'm talking about technique - or, in other words - how to use your hands!
Same time he's extremely patient.

I'd like to recommend Jared for everyone who want's to learn play guitar (don't look at your age), his teaching approach works great, because he is teaching you and adjust classes for you.

For students who have played an instrument prior to our lessons, I try and shape a curriculum entirely based upon the specific goals of the student, and I rarely use text books although I use a lot of exercises and educational material when appropriate.  I feel learning to play and transcribe songs and solos to increase a students self reliance and confidence is my most important job.  Most students come to me looking for structure so I try and provide a clear path to their goals. For students with no prior music experience I use text books, and exercises to strengthen their technique, expose them to musical ideas, and give them a foundation for basic theory.  After that is accomplished I move into a curriculum that is more personal to their specific goals.

About Jared

I have been playing instruments and performing live since I was 11 years old. Initially trained in classical piano I added guitar to my musical palette at the age of 14. In college I spent time continuing my studies in both piano and guitar and received a bachelors of fine arts with a concentration

He pays attention to detail, is super organized with a definite plan and knows how to keep a student's interest. He is balanced and very realistic in his approach. He is talented and meets the student where he is. He is even transcribing a Bollywood song for my son and my son is loving it! He is flexible... We are so happy to have found him.

I have been playing acoustic guitar for eleven years. My styles on the acoustic range from folk to bluegrass to gypsy swing. Acoustic guitar is a great way to start. It builds finger strength better than electric guitar and it teaches beginning students the fundamentals of control.

About Benjamin

Hi! My name is Ben, and I can't wait to start playing guitar with you. I have been playing since age 14, and teaching since age 18. Most of professional experience is as a jazz guitarist, but I have spent a good part of my career playing rock, funk, blues, and folk. Whatever your style and exper

Whether you're tackling singer-songwriting, accompaniment, pop/rock, jazz/funk/r&b, or even classical exercises, I can help you. I've studied piano/voice/guitar long enough to know what each kind of instrumentalist/vocalist needs. I'm well versed in a overview of all genres and styles, as well as specialized areas of study. As a writer, I'm also very familiar with coaching instrumentalists geared towards composition and arranging. If you're looking to improve your skills, I can help!

About Jake

I want to teach the material that excites students. After a handful of really crummy experiences with teachers who wanted me to learn a specific way, I stumbled across a music school in Philadelphia and a college in Boston that really got the principle of teaching what students are drawn to. Bruc

Many years of playing and teaching acoustic guitar. I offer lessons that are molded to the student's interests and skill level. Depending on the kind of music the student enjoys will determine how I lead the lesson. I also enjoy introducing my students to different genres of music and artists that they may have not heard in the past. Overall, I'm pretty down-to-earth. Depending on your experience, with my lessons, you'll learn to read music, train your ear, and properly play the instrument and we'll eventually delve into a deeper understanding of music theory. I try not to be too earnest and strict because I think it's important for the student to have fun. I take a youthful approach to teaching: I attempt to find common ground with the student and relate to them on some level that might not even have to do with music (although relating on a musical level is obviously preferred). Under my guidance, students often actively pursue their desire to further their musical studies. And, more

Sam is great with my 10 year old daughter. He is easy going and makes the flute lessons fun and my daughter enjoys her weekly hour lesson. We let Sam know what our goals were and he has created a plan accordingly.

Sam can do both in-home and online lessons. The in-home lessons are great, no need to travel.

Overall Sam is a great teach and very affordable.

"Just wrapped up 5 lessons with Ryan S. He is very easy going and patient with any questions you have. Definitely feels like he takes you the long way around so that you end up with a more thorough understanding of the guitar and how to use it as efficiently as possible. I've been strumming this guitar for about 8 years and am learning a lot of things that I never even knew existed. Great teacher. Highly recommended."

"Last November I began playing the guitar. Like most beginners I learned the basic chords (G,C,D,etc.). It wasn't much but you'd be surprised how many songs you could play with these few chords.

A few months ago, I decided it was time to learn more and sharpen my skills... starting with the basics (including reading guitar music). I decided to check out TakeLessons because I knew I could have the lessons in the comfort of my own home. So, I began researching and found Tim's profile.

If you are looking for a solid foundation in learning the guitar and feeling encouraged to push through (even if you think you can't play that one chord) I'd highly recommend Tim. Tim provides students with a guitar manual that is easy to understand and helps build one skill at a time. Like building a brick wall, the book has you put one brick on top of the other as you go through the book. In time, you will be surprised how much you've learned!

Beginners, Intermediate/Advance players if you're looking for a guitar teacher that will help you sharpen your skills and encourage you along the way... I'd highly recommend him as a guitar teacher!"
