I have a BA in Psychology, and an MA in Parapsychology. I studied Architecture for 3 years, and Music Education for two years. I was a National Merit Semifinalist in High School for good SAT scores, and in the Honors Society in High School and College. I play piano, percussion, flute, cello, guitar, bass, cornet and glockenspiel, and teach music lessons. I enjoy playing duets with my students, sharing the fun of making music with them. I do macrame', draw and paint, and am certified as a Reiki Master. I always loved school, and enjoy helping other people to learn. While attending the University of Southern California, where I received my M.F.A., I worked as a writing tutor in the USC Writing Center and also taught Classical Greek Mythology. After graduation, I taught Verbal, Writing and Literature SAT classes and worked as a private tutor in a variety of subjects.

I later taught for five years at the New York Film Academy in Universal City, CA, where I taught a variety of Critical Studies classes to various levels of students, some in certificate programs and others working towards their M.F.A.

As a former English and Spanish double major, I have always enjoyed teaching at various levels. Most of my other work these days involves the writing and editing of short stories, screenplays and novels.

Paul was my favorite teacher at the New York Film Academy.
Unlike most of the teachers, Mr. Paul put a lot of effort and creativity into planning his classes, which made them both stimulating and fun for us.
I also loved the fact that Mr. Paul always respected our opinions, and never made us feel stupid when we didn’t understand something. He was always very encouraging and willing to keep explaining until we got it.

I highly recommend him to anyone interested in extra lessons. He is definitely worth it!

Hi, I'm Reina and I'm obsessed with the voice instrument! I have over 20 years of music experience, as a vocalist and performer. I've been teaching voice lessons since 2005.

Where can I take voice lessons?
Currently lessons are available online.

What will I learn in my lessons?
You will learn how to care
for, and properly play your instrument. We will start with basic exercises and drills, and move into more advanced techniques as you progress in your skill sets.

What if I'm a beginner?
Totally fine! I teach all levels beginning through professional. The voice is an instrument just like any other instrument and must be learned in the same manner, from the beginning!

Can I try the first class Free?
No, but you will get a FREE lesson on your birthday and for each friend you refer that purchases a 5-pack of lessons.

What is your teaching style?
I am more than your voice teacher. I am your coach, your friend, your, mentor and peer. You are your voice, and in order for me to properly teach, you have to trust me. We will build a rapport as you grow your instrument in confidence, strength and flexibility.

Are there added bonuses to taking singing lessons?!
Yes! Proper breathing is a guaranteed ab workout, singing can improve your speaking voice, and you'll have a better sense of self understanding by learning how to better control your instrument. Not to mention all the unplanned karaoke you can take part in!

A little more about the teacher:
I've been a singer since as long as I can remember. I never wanted anything else. I started as a beginner by imitating my favorite artists. I performed a lot as a child, and stopped performing for a while in my teen years due to stage fright and the such. During that time I started songwriting and recording, I studied music in college, graduated and started performing again as a solo artist. I joined a few bands, they all broke up. I licked my wounds and now I'm a happy, recording, performing, songwriting, teaching, voice-over, and producing vocalist.

I do not see teaching as simply repeating what has been already detailed in text books and lectures. Everyone’s mind is different and thus everyone has a unique perception to understanding one issue or another. Things are better illustrated with an example.

A while back, there was a television show hosted by a T.V. personality named Monty Hall. In the show, Monty presented a contestant with 3 closed doors. Behind one door was a new car. And behind each of the other two doors was a goat. The contestant had the option to choose one door so as to win the new car.

The probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 or door 3 was the same, about 33.33%. Let us say that the contestant picked door 1. Monty would then open one of the other two doors that were not chosen by the contestant. There were 3 terms in the game: 1) Monty knew what w
as behind each door; 2) Monty cannot open the door that was already chosen by the contestant; 3) Monty would only open a door that hides a goat.

Let us say Monty opened door 3 revealing a goat. Monty then asked the contestant if the contestant would like to switch to door 2 or keep his original choice of door 1. Contestants would be bewildered not knowing really what to do. Was it better to keep the originally choice or was it better to switch or it would make no difference whether to keep the original choice or switch?

Meet Marilyn vos Savant. Marilyn wrote a column called “Ask Marilyn” in a newspaper called Parade. Marilyn was known for having one of the highest recorded IQ. A reader sent Marilyn a letter asking her if it was better to switch or not to switch. Marilyn stated in her column that a contestant should switch since switching doubled the contestant’s chances of winning. Many of Marilyn’s readers erupted in protest including readers with Ph.D., mathematicians, and academicians. Most people believed that the probability that a car was behind door 1 or door 2 was the same of 50%.

This became known as The Monty Hall Problem or The Monty Hall Paradox. Articles and books were written over this problem. Actually Marilyn was right and this was proven using computer simulation. Yet until today many people cannot understand that switching doubles the chances of winning.

At first glance this paradox might seem irrelevant to teaching. But I think it does. This paradox tutor the mind in the subject of structured thinking which is very important in learning.
