I am a full-time professional dancer who has performed nationally and internationally including the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, DC's City Rhythms Festival, the VelocityDC Festival, as well as others. In my dance lessons, students will strengthen their technique, creativity, individuality and showmanship through a warm-up, movement activities, and challenging movement combinations. Students will increase their knowledge and physical vocabulary and leave each lesson a better dancer, performer and person. In the midst of learning students will also be required to have fun! I am able to teach ballet, modern, jazz, step and gumboot dancing.
Briana has enjoyed teaching since she was a teaching assistant at Detroit Windsor Dance Academy, her high school dance studio. Since then she has taught students within Washington DC Public Schools, the University of Michigan Recreation Center, the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, Morton Street Dance Center, District Dance Arts, as well as many other studios and non-profit organizations. Teaching allows her to express herself, pass on her knowledge and experiences and inspire students to develop their technique, creativity, individuality and showmanship.
There is never a dull moment in Briana’s classes! Her specific classes and lesson plans are catered to specific age groups from Pre-K to adults. They consist of engaging movement activities, warm-up, and complex movement combinations. She is an energetic and patient teacher who seriously
takes into account the needs and skill level of the student in preparing her lesson plans and material.
Briana’s use of dance vocabulary and physical demonstrations allow her to teach the material accurately and effectively. Her positive attitude and constant words of encouragement keep students motivated and engaged in the lesson. Students will increase their knowledge and physical vocabulary of the movement style and leave each lesson a better dancer, performer and person.
She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan in May of 2013 and has had a wide range of professional experience. She has worked with and performed works by modern dance choreographers such as Lindsey Merchant, Melissa Beck, Germaul Barnes, Jessica Fogel, Christopher Huggins, Shen Wei and Dianne McIntyre. She was artistic director of a chapter of the international hip-hop dance company Dance2XS International.
Briana was a full-time company member with StepAfrika!, a professional stepping company in Washington, DC from 2013-2015 and currently, she is working with CityDance resident artist S.J. Ewing & Dancers. Briana has had the privilege of performing at DC's City Rhythms Festival, Catholic Universities Hartke Theater, the Hill Center, the VelocityDC Festival, the Guantanomo Bay Naval Base as well as others. Recently she was invited to perform a modern dance solo in Dance Place’s 2014 New Releases Choreographers Showcase and Joy of Motions 2014 Dance Project Concert. Most recently, she served as the assistant choreographer on the American Theater’s Company’s production of The Project(s) in Chicago, IL, rated 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune. Most recently, she collaborated with Hard Soles Dance Company on a new piece titled “Re:set”, combining contemporary dance and body percussion, for the 2016 March on Washington Film Festival in honor of the 70th anniversary of the integration of the NFL and was chosen as Dance Place's 2016 New Releases Commission Recipient in support her new work to be premiered the summer of 2017.
Briana encourages students to bring writing materials to each lesson to take notes for any learned vocabulary and each lesson will follow with a recorded video of the movement for the students to refer to until the next lesson.
I'm extremely new to ballet and dance in general (for reference I'm 16). Briana was very patient and an amazing teacher! Very friendly and welcoming while still being very professional. It's great to get the exact corrections I need without feeling bad about it and yet still work on it until proper. Very happy and pleased!

My daughter had a great first session. She identified my daughters areas of weakness and began immediately to help improve them. Looking forward to our next session.

I am already worried that if I tell people how amazing Briana is that she will get too booked up for me :) She is a great instructor with a huge heart. Loved it.

Natalya is an amazing dance instructor with a strong dance background, fun and energetic teaching style and a very professional demeanor! She wants all of her students to succeed and will true you into a skilled dance in no time! Thank you Natalya for all that you have taught me!
My goal is to help students who are looking to inspire a love for dance, grow in their technique, and seek one-on-one attention in their craft.
For the beginning student, I love to be abel to help them explore what dance means to them, figure out practical steps, and engage with expression through their body movement. For the advanced dancer, I focus more on improving technique and seeing their overall expression as a dancer cross the line from amateur to pre-professional.
My hope is to always hear the goals students have, partner with them in their journey, and create an environment that is both fun and inspiring for the future.
I have been actively singing and performing since I was three years old, playing piano since I was 7 and dancing for over 12 years.
Music: I graduated from Northwest University with a BA in Music in 2018. Most of my musical background began and remained in the church, playing and leading worship teams. I am now leading the worship teams for a church in Seattle and love getting to train and inspire others in their musical gifts.
My love for music blossomed from my passion for performing and creating. My whole life has been centered upon music... at home, at school, at work, at church, at my ballet studio, and more. My husband and I even met because of a band and a choir... just like a romantic movie! In our free time, we enjoy creating covers of songs together and playing in bands with one another.
I have experience in a varie
ty of vocal genres including classical, pop, choral, jazz, broadway, and recording. I was the biggest choir nerd you could meet in high school and college, spending my entire class day in and out of our choir room.
I began playing piano at 7 years old because I wanted to impress everyone during music class. I eventually fell in love with the instrument and prided myself on my ability to sight read music. My favorite form of piano is playing pop and worship music where you are given the freedom to create beautiful sounds out of very little written direction.
Dance: I have been dancing since I was 12 years old with a primary focus in ballet and lyrical partnered with exposure to all different forms of dancing. I began my training at Studio West Dance Academy in Olympia, WA where I performed over ten different roles in the Nutcracker, participated in four years of traveling galas, and more showcases than I can remember.
I attended Evergreen City Ballet's summer intensive in Renton, WA., Paradosi Ballet's summer intensive in Tacoma, WA. and was selected to take part in Boston Ballet's summer intensive for an entire summer. Unfortunately, I suffered from foot injuries that took me off pointe shoes and forced me into rest (when I was abel to focus on music). Since then, I have been able to take adult classes at Westlake Dance Center in Bothell, WA and love to be able to invest in the next generation of dancers.
My passion in life is to see people come alive and create something beautiful. My love for the arts and desire to create is something I hope to spread to others. The moment you see someone play a tricky note sequence or sing something they never thought they could hit is the most rewarding feeling there is.

"Crystal is the best dance instructor so powerful and full of life. I am very pleased with her professionalism. Awesome instructor."
"My experience with Crystal has been amazing!! Crystal expertise in technical, ballet, liturgical, jazz, hip hop, and African dance is out of this world. C
rystal took her time to show me (at the time a non dancer) all of those dances and now I am no longer a beginner!! Now Crystal has asked me to travel with her to several dance conferences. We have also done a few routines together! One of the venues was at the Phillips Arena!! AMAZING!"
"Gina was amazing and created the perfect atmosphere for us to get comfortable dancing and learning!
Highly recommend working with her!"
"Natalya was incredibly patient with my daughter. My daughter requires special education and many teachers gave up easily or ignored her and focused on the
rest of the group. Natalya never gave up on my child and made her succeed and pushed her to her highest potential. I will be forever grateful for her passion and how she transmitted the same feelings to my daughter."
"I've taken both zouk AND locking privates with Tom. He really knows the material, this guy has trained with the best! He is relentless with his attention
to detail and thorough style. He was on time and very clear about our class objectives. What's really great about his space is the wood floor and mirrors. I highly recommend Tom as a teacher for dancers of every level!"
"I had a great lesson with Tom reviewing my zouk foundations. He gave specific pointers to improve my technique. The instructions were clear and going over
the moves repeatedly was helpful. I actually experienced the feeling of "infinity" in the lateral!"
"Lindsey is awesome, the best instructor I've worked with thus far, truly a pleasure. I am already seeing processing after 3 months of lessons and would no
t change a thing! I would highly recommend her to everyone who has a passion to learn dance."
"Deja had her first lesson with my daughter today. Deja was great. Right on time; worked with my daughter literally through the last minute of her lesson
. I could hear Deja giving direction and instruction, and she was very encouraging and supportive. My daughter really liked her, and is excited about the process. (whew!). Great job!"
Contemporary dance. You’ve probably seen it on famous dance television shows like So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing with the Stars, but do you actually know what contemporary dance is? With roots in several different styles of dance, like ballet, hip hop, and modern dance, contemporary dance emerged in the mid-1900s and quickly became one of the most popular dance styles in the Western world. If you are interested in any kind of dance, studying contemporary dance for beginners is a great …
