Beginner to intermediate

I can teach you 4 or 5 very effective and versatile strums and how you can utilize them to play the songs in any style you'd like to play. Depending on what you'd like to learn and whether or not you'd like learn to read music, we can work with or without an instruction book/accompanying CD (I have carefully chosen one I feel is practical, fun and user-friendly). Or I can just work out songs for you to play, show you the chords and give you suggestions on how to put it all together. I also offer instruction on how to go about writing songs on the ukulele.

The ukulele is a very simple and complex instruments. I like to focus on tuning, learning chords and chord progressions, as well as
practicing strum patterns. I can help you play your favorite song or even create your own. Requests for specific instructions are welcome. The amount of time it takes is determined by your will to learn and the practice that comes with it.

About Reymar

I took guitar classes, but learned most of what I know from peers, YouTube, and myself. I’m a performer, singer/songwriter, producer, and teacher. I taught private lessons for a few of my teachers and their family members when I was in high school. I’d say my personality is pretty goofy, but I like

I can help students be more familiar with ukulele techniques and compare differences between the ukulele and the traditional six string guitar.

About Holly

I have been playing piano for 15 years, and taught two students while I was still in high school. I took a break from teaching for a few years, but recently started teaching again, while finishing up college. I am introverted, but I bond well with kids and will treat them well. I also offer flute,

As I am an older adult piano student with many years of experience playing organ and digital keyboard, including publicly and for hire, I was uncertain which way to go when I decided to add piano (and ultimately jazz piano) to my repertoire. After considering a number of options (online teaching programs, books, YouTube videos, and various instructors), I decided to employ Holly's vast musical expertise. I was impressed that she had a proposed lesson plan right off the bat, and she convinced me that starting with classical music may be the way to morph my way into jazz piano. I knew as a fact that many jazz musicians had their start that way. Holly has been very patient with my learning the whole new way of playing that a piano entails (no more relying on the built-in bells and whistles of an arranger keyboard). I would recommend Holly for adult students as well as children. She knows her stuff. And if she gets mad if I don't play something right the first time, she sure doesn't show it (mainly because she DOESN'T get mad at all). But my biggest recommendation comes that she is darn passionate about what she does.

Holly is an incredible pianist and teacher. Always patient and understanding. She always has the answer to questions I have and can explain it clearly. I would recommend Holly to anyone looking to learn piano the correct way.

I totally enjoyed my class with Geoff. We immediately started my lesson with tuning the ukulele. Then we went over the cords and strumming. I have been researching on playing the ukulele and his explanation on the strumming was a lot better than the book. He is teaching me how to play by listening to the notes which is great because I would be able to play the Hawaiian music for my hula classes. In addition, his studio is only a 5 minute drive from my house, which means I don’t have to deal with traffic.

How to Tune a Ukulele

Thanks to its refreshing island sound, the ukulele is becoming an increasingly popular instrument. However, if you don't know how to tune a ukulele properly, its sweet tropical notes can start to go sour fast! Luckily there are several easy methods of tuning that you can use to ensure your ukulele always sounds top notch! In standard tuning, a ukulele's strings are tuned to the following notes: G on the fourth string from the bottom, C on the third, E on the second, and A on the first or …
