Viola Lessons in Auburn. Amazing Teachers.

Experienced viola teacher with over 25 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of viola playing skills and technique. I specialize in Traditional Classical string music, typically use Essential Elements 2000, Samuel Applebaum methods, Suzuki books, and traditional scales and etude books. I have the following tools available to use during lessons: metronome, tuner, rosin and my music library.

During the first lesson we will get acquainted and you can tell me about your history with the instrument and what you would like to learn. Then I will come up with fun technique building exercises so you can play with ease. Then we usually work on a goal piece. For the piece I will give you practice methods and ways to play through the pieces with a beautiful tone. Viola is fun and expect to have a great time!

Learn about rhythm, melody, harmony, and dynamics, and how they apply to the viola. Explore the range of your instrument through various scales. Build solid skills through understanding the mechanics of how your body and instrument work together.

In my lessons, I provide my students with both technical studies as well as appropriate and inspiring music to develop their skills and help them reach their goals.

I'm an experienced viola teacher and performer. I've played extensively with the Cleveland Orchestra in venues like Carnegie Hall, and am now the Assistant Principal viola with the Memphis Symphony. My middle and high school students have been first chair at All-State orchestras and have also been accepted to the All-National Orchestra and similar national level programs. I specialize in helping intermediate and advanced students reach ambitious goals, and I also love teaching adult beginners!
