I teach in a way that is as focused on the grammar as you want to be. I prefer conversational classes, but for many in traditional classes it is the grammar that they are not understanding.

Raised in largely bilingual household. B.A. in Spanish from UW (cum laude). English fluency slightly stronger. Extremely high level Spanish proficiency although the minutiae within humor can sometimes be lost. Excellent for those who need help with pronunciation, grammar (clarification of grammatical rules like the difference between a direct object and an indirect object, etc.), conjugation, and conversation.

About David

Many years of drum instruction with students who have learned best with alternative learner-centered approaches including: extreme patience, slow to fast repetition of patterns and exercises, focused breathing, as well as sight-reading, rhythm and ear training. Students with: Asperger's, Autism, D

DAVID IS AN OUTSTANDING TEACHER IN EVERY RESPECT. HIS KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH SEEMS EXCELLENT, AND HIS INTEREST IN THIS LANGUAGE IS CLEARLY VERY STRONG. THIS ALLOWS CLOSE ANALYSIS OF SPANISH, AND STANDS AS A SIGNIFICANT BENEFIT TO THE DIDACTIC PROCESS. IN TURN THIS PROMOTES A SPIRIT OF LEARNING IN CLASS WHICH IS INFORMATIVE AND GOOD FUN. FINALLY HIS KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH/ENGLISH COGNATES AND INDO-EUROPEAN ROOTS IS UNUSUALLY BROAD, WHICH MAKES LEARNING SPANISH WITH HIM EASY AND ENTERTAINING. I BELIEVE DAVID HAS A TRUE VOCATION FOR TEACHING, AND I HOPE I CAN GO ON WITH LESSONS WITH HIM FOR SOME TIME TO COME.
Jacob
David is a great instructor. My son is 9 and a beginner and David is very good with him.

I was born and raised in Costa Rica and, as a native Speaker, I love to teach the language and share about the culture.

I have been teaching Spanish for the past 3 years, and what I find most challenging is for the students to break free from the textbooks and engage in conversation. While it is necessary to understand the grammar, learn vocabulary, etc; my main goal is for the student to feel confident while conversing. That can look like creating simple sentences on your own, practicing how to use verbs in different settings, or having an entire conversation about a specific subject in Spanish.

I strive to create an environment where each student feels safe, supported and motivated to keep improving and achieve their goals.

I recently came back to cello after 10 years of not playing and taking lessons with Diana has been great and refreshing! She is an experience teacher and a terrific player. I enjoy going for lessons as she takes her music business seriously and shares her knowledge and passion with great care. I would recommend her to any cello enthusiasts in the Chicago area!
Susan
I took my 7 year old son for cello lessons for the first time and we have been really happy with the results. Diana brings fun activities to the class plus she is organized and reliable. I would recommend her 100%.
Miguel
One of the most engaging learning experiences in my life. First of all, Diana is very patient, which is a great quality not many teachers have. Diana also has a very clear way of explaining difficult things, in such a way it makes it very easy to understand. Always punctual and a very disciplined and professional person. Needless to say, an amazingly talented cellist.
