I teach music the way it was taught to me, and I had in my opinion some of the best teachers in the world.

I like to start every student with a unique approach to their individual playing style. I work closely with the student from the first minute of the first lesson, first simply getting to know the student's comfort level with material, playing style, and proficiency level. From there I go into specific topics that need improvement - for some students, this might be basic techniques, and for others may be advanced concepts. I like to walk the line between nurturing and tough love - I think that the best teacher is the experience of stepping outside of your comfort zone, with someone there to point you in the right direction to walk.

About Zack
Hi everyone! My name is Zack and I'm a guitar and violin instructor hailing from Chicago, IL, and currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve been playing violin since age 9 and guitar since age 10, gaining experience ever since playing live and in the studio, in bands and as a freelance artist. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance and now play in a metal band and pursue a freelance career. As a young student, I spent many years as a member of Midwest Young Artists, performing and studying classical music with Dr. Allen Dennis and jazz guitar with the renowned Frank Portelese, playing venues such as the Harris Theater in Chicago. I toured Greece and Peru playing violin, and studied classical performance with Vadim Mazo of Illinois Wesleyan University in Prague at Ameropa ’06. I was
a violin student of Gail Lilja-Kirkeeng from a young age, and was taught guitar by Rex Carroll of christian heavy metal band, Whitecross, and later when on to study rock and metal guitar with Joe Stump and Jon Finn at Berklee College of Music. I have opened for acts such as Five Finger Death Punch and Rob Zombie, and even accompanied Dream Theater onstage as the principal second violinist for their live DVD release, Breaking the Fourth Wall. My musical background is mostly based in classical music on violin, and rock music on guitar, although I consider myself very well versed in many different styles. Topics I generally like to begin new students with are scales and modes and how to apply them, basic posture and correct pick/bow technique and left hand placement, and the note names as they apply to the instrument and basic sight reading. I firmly believe that every student is unique with different styles, voices, and goals and that any lesson plan should reflect that. Whatever you want to learn, I’m here to help!

Becki has taught violin to my nieces and nephew for many years and they are all exceptional musicians as a result. While a beginning adult student, I got a few words of advice about my playing from Becki at an informal musical event which we both attended. I was smitten. The instruction she shared was exquisite! I immediately understood what a great teacher is. When I said that I wished that I lived closer so that I too could study with her, she responded, "We could do it over Skype!" And so we do. I've been studying Suzuki violin with her since. I'm so grateful that the technology is available to us to make this possible.

As an older beginning cello player, I found the perfect instructor in Dr. Kalantzi! She teaches with extreme patience and compassion. Her expertise and humor contribute to quality time of instruction in an enjoyable atmosphere. Dr. Kalantzi is flexible in acommendating all of her students schedules from making more time for them to prepare for auditions to accepting students into her schedule after time away. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Dr. Kalantzi and some of her culture. If you want to become a better string player or start from scratch, I highly recommend her!

Dr. Kalantzi has been an excellent instructor for my daughter. We have been taking lessons from her for several years. She is very personable and patient with my daughter, knows how to motivate her and make each lesson (and homework) fun, and continues to look for ways to help her improve. I would recommend Dr. Kalantzi for anyone new to violin as well as for more seasoned musicians.

One of the best teachers of violin and viola playing is offering lessons. She posses knowledge of Russian old school of violin/viola playing ,and she holds a doctorate degree from Louisiana state University. She is a prize winner of several international and national competitions. 7 years of experience in teaching. Lessons can be done at your house or online.
"To my mind, the role of a teacher is no less important than the role of a doctor, that is why a doctor and a teacher have to be highly professional. I think a teacher has to have individual methods for each student in order to make an efficient collaboration."

About Anna
In the past several years, I have received extensive performing and varied teaching experience. While doing my bachelor degree in music performance in Russia I took a string pedagogy course and on the last year of my degree my teacher asked me to substitute for him during the times he was away. In the US, I started my teaching experience on the first year of my DMA degree, teaching viola to private students and in a music school in Zachary, Louisiana. Teaching very young students from pre-school to sixth grade has helped me to develop my skills in organizing lessons, making short-term and long-term goals, and to be able to maintain student interest in music. While working with students it is important to be able to explain an individual that one will understand you and will make it happen, but most importantly is to make the student to en
joy playing an instrument and to develop skills which will be useful in life. During the second and third year of my DMA studies, I was appointed as a teaching assistant at Louisiana State University. My responsibilities in this position entailed teaching undergraduate students and giving complementary lessons. My qualifications in instrumental coaching included every level from 6 years old through university. In teaching and performing areas combined, I have almost 11 years of a professional experience earned through a variety of short-term and full-time positions.

Alex Sjobeck has experience playing the fiddle and classical violin. In 2013 and 2014 she taught a class of 4th and 5th-grade violin students in Harlem, New York. Prior to college, in which she focused on studying piano at a conservatory, she played violin in orchestras and studied with a violinist in the Boise Philharmonic.

About Alexandra
***Now enrolling students to begin lessons March 2019***
-----Please inquire about lesson times before scheduling------

At a young age, pianist Alexandra Sjobeck’s distinctly captivating style led her to move from Idaho to New York to immerse herself in New York City’s jazz scene. Her unique sound is comprised of a voice all her own which relies on nuanced intricacies in both her arrangements and improvisation paired with familiarity, whether from pop music, world music, or from jazz greats including McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, and Herbie Hancock. One of her regular sideman summarized it as “the combination of Post-Impressionistic painting, a jigsaw puzzle, childhood, and groove.” During her time in New York, she studied with some of the top jazz artists in the world and obtained a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from the Manhattan S
chool of Music.   More recently, she completed her Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Colorado as a teaching assistant. Throughout the last two years she has been actively performing with the nationally touring trio SBST as well as the Sjobeck Baker Duo and has played at venues such as The Velvet Note in Atlanta, Georgia and Dazzle in Denver, Colorado. Beyond her performance career, she has had her hand at a variety of other projects including: recording three albums as leader and co-leader, composing the music for a short film, conducting and debuting an original big band arrangement at a University of Northern Colorado concert, teaching jazz ensemble classes, and presenting workshops and masterclasses in Colorado, Georgia, and Idaho.
