Tom is an amazing teacher, so gentle, patient and kind with our shy 12 year old. Tom was great in engaging him and we feel very good about their relationship already after the first lesson. He seems to know right away how to tailor the lesson based on where our son is at. He has already made improvements in his first class. We look forward to future lessons with Tom.

It is my foremost belief as a teacher that my students are truly capable of anything they set their mind to. I teach with positive reinforcement and never judgement to create a warm and comfortable environment that fosters and nurtures potential! I see teaching as more than teaching a person to learn the cello, but as an opportunity to accompany students on their journey towards embracing who they are, creating meaningful art, and connecting to the world through music.

No matter the age or prior experience of the student, you can expect a heavy focus on establishing a firm foundation of cello technique. Without this foundation, the student can only progress so much. With the foundation set and solid, the possibilities are endless! I teach tension-free cello playing. There should never be pain or discomfort anywhere in the body which is why I have such a large focus on establishing proper technique.

Ultimately, it takes courage to put effort towards learning an instrument and I ...

The first thing I do when I meet a student is to interview the student and find out why they want to learn how to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each lesson to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create an organized binder guitar workbook and having a teaching degree I create all of the lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, chords, rhythm, scales, arpeggios, songs, song form, and exercises etc. I use a color coded method to teach scales, chords and theory that I created that help students not only understand scales but also they are able to see visually where chords come from. I break down each song into easy digestible parts so students can learn a ...

I only have high accolades for David. I've learned more from David in the mere 5 lessons then I learned in a years worth of lessons in the past. His method of teaching is perfect with the right amount of homework. He customizes the lesson for the type of music I ultimately want to play with a good balance of theory and practical lessons to get me there. Bravo!!!

"Laurel taught my kids piano lessons for several years. When she moved away, she proved impossible to replace. She really cared about the kids' learning. For example, when my son seemed to connect better with the process and logic behind the music, she got him started composing his own! Both kids benefited greatly from Laurel's teaching and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a piano teacher."

"Greg sold me my first acoustic guitar at 13 years old. It was a fender acoustic and I bought it with no knowledge and he pushed me towards an acoustic guitar he felt was quality and a great starter guitar. I taught myself for a couple of years and than my parents let me get guitar lessons When I was 16. I was really into heavy metal music, yet Greg made sure I knew the basics. His lessons were very individualized and made sure that when I was learning the basics that I knew what I was working towards. I remember one lesson he gave me a riff to work with, after I had it down he revealed to me that it was Miley's party in the USA. He showed me a song I wasn't interested in learning and taught me how I can make it into a genre that appealed to me. I told Greg that I was really interested In guitar upkeep and he taught me how he cleans guitars and does adjustments in his shop. Greg Campbell takes the time with his students and makes sure he his teaching them in what they are interested in, yet at the same time makes sure the basics are hammered home and are appreciated."

"Out of all the instructors I’ve had (instructors with PhDs and over twenty years of experience teaching cello), Chialing is the best by far. I’ve been taking lessons with her for a little over a year and a half and I know that aside from her general likability, she is very diligent and detail-oriented—characteristics essential to fixing technique problems sometimes rooted in even the slightest improper finger placement. Furthermore, she quickly re-explains concepts in new ways until I understand them both conceptually and physically. She also goes out of her way to find drills tailored toward keeping current skills sharp and improving weak skills. She will work with you to ensure you keep improving and stay interested in the piece and drills you’re working on. She won’t disappoint."

"A great teacher!

I am probably Angela's oldest pupil (92) and I have seen many teachers, educators and lecturers in my lifetime, but none have equaled Angela for excellence. This young woman teaches the full time allotted to a lesson-a minimum of chit-chat. She is aware of the strengths and weaknesses of each pupil and teaches each with these in mind. She is endlessly patient and encouraging, and her enthusiasm for music is contagious; it lifts the spirits of the pupils. She has a thorough academic background in music and this fund of knowledge is used actively in her teaching-pupils cannot get away with anything. Her corrective measures, however, are not harsh or punitive, but gentle and subtle.

I am very proud of Angela and what she has accomplished, and very pleased and lucky to have found her as my piano teacher."

The Loog Guitar Revolution: Guitar Lessons for Kids Will Never be the Same

As a music educator and performer, I’m always interested in learning about new products and tools that can help students succeed.  When I discovered the Loog Guitar, a 3-string interchangeable guitar designed with children in mind, I immediately took notice. I was excited to find out more about the Loog because I took guitar lessons when I was 8 years old, and it proved to be easier said than done. The guitar was added to the list of instruments that were uncomfortable for my tiny hands (w …
