I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, The Museum of the Living Artist, The San Diego Art Department, Sanctuary Gallery, Limbo Fine Arts, and Sushi Gallery. I have just started to show in other cities, most recently at the Rialto Theater in Corpus Christi, Texas and The Nico Gallery in Seattle, Washington.
Along with my painting career, I have created children’s book and magazine illustrations, done graphic design work, and taught others how to express themselves creatively through art. I have been creating curricula for children’s art programs and teaching them. I also have been te
aching adults how to paint at the San Diego Art Department for the past 10 years and, in the past two years, with Painting &Vino.
Through my decade of teaching painting, I have honed a teaching style that encourages students to balance creativity and imagination with technique and skill. I strive to help students discover a process in which they are able to express themselves creatively while also teaching paint application techniques, color theory and the Elements and Principles of design. I am often in front of 50+ people at a time presenting my painting techniques within a limited amount of time.
I look forward to coaching you whether you're someone who hasn't painted since you were a kid or you're a seasoned painter who just needs a little help, encouragement or direction.

It was great! Deron had me pick out a subject and send him the image ahead of time. He had it printed out and ready to go when I got there, along with the paint colors, brushes and everything. Very impressed with his organization. He went at just the right speed for me and we actually made good progress. I'm looking forward to the next lesson!
I provide classical instruction in portraiture, still life and landscape in your studio or mine. In this traditional approach to drawing and painting, what will be taught and focused upon are perspective, value and composition in order for the student to develop strong visual language skills. The program of study begins with a specific focus on drawing, since drawing is the foundation upon which all great traditional art is built. Throughout this training, emphasis will be placed on accuracy, or more specifically, seeing and rendering correctly such things as line quality, hard and soft edges, proportion, positive and negative space through abstract form and the use of the full range of values.
I'm a graduate of Dean College in Franklin, MA and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where I majored in art history and studio art with a focus on portrait painting and illustration. I continued further study at the Andeeva Portrait Academy in Sante Fe New Mexico, the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art in Van Nuys, CA and the Sadie Valerie Atelier in San Francisco.
The program of study for drawing will include: Demonstration of one, two and three point perspective, creating the nine step value scale, cast drawing in charcoal, the still life in charcoal and drawing the portrait. The topic of composition will also be covered. I’ve done commissioned work for Audi, the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the American Repertory Theater, the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Kessler Financial Ser
vices, Harvard Business School Publishing, Shilo Baptist Church, the Chelsea Soldiers Home and others. Samples of my work are available to view in my profile. Additional samples are available upon request.
I love teaching. I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching drawing and painting in university and college. I cover realistic style to abstract art with watercolor, oil, or acrylic. Also, you will learn a variety of techniques like glazing, impasto, and alla prima. subject matter can start with still life and continue architecture, landscape, and figurative art.
My name is Roya. I am a professional artist and educator, and I’m a professor in painting and drawing. It would be my pleasure to teach you painting or drawing. Over the last 10 years, I have taught painting and drawing, including figure drawing and painting courses in universities and colleges.
I’m using 2 different teaching strategy based on my students interest.
In the first plan, I start to teach from basic to advanced technique; my goal at the beginning stage is to provide students with enough skills and technique that they can skillfully begin making art from 3- dimensional sources, not just copying from other arts.
In the second path, I start teaching any subject or technique that my student prefer like pastel landscape or oil painting portrait.
I teach a variety of technique, medium and styles from realistic to abstract
Roya is a wonderfully energetic, hands on art teacher, who has moved my oil painting from mundane to lively & exciting. My lessons with Roya are such a pleasure. The lessons are geared toward helping me grow in areas I expressed a need for, as well as filling in weaknesses which her expertise recognizes need working on.

I am an independent professional visual artist, with over 20 years' hands on teaching experience in U.S. and abroad. At the age of 13, I began learning how to paint with my father, who is an established artist, in an informal studio class. Later, I decided to pursue higher education in fine arts and received my BFA and MFA degrees. While working on my Bachelor’s degree, I began teaching in schools and later in my private studio. My expertise is to help others to discover their special talent, as I believe every person has a unique sense of creation. As an experienced art teacher and mentor, I have always provided a solid education for every one of my students and I have demonstrated an ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds and age groups. My goal is to develop an understanding of and enthusiasm for arts in others by addressing different learning styles. I demonstrate both traditional practices and contemporary critical and technical approaches to painting.

"We are happy to have found Kai on TakeLessons. Kai works with our high school junior on her portfoilio and submissions for art competitions. The weekly on
line lessons involve setting goals, conceptualizing, live demonstrations and live coaching. We were initially worried about the effectiveness of online lessons but it has worked out perfectly so far in the second month of lessons. Our daughter has already shown improvement in her technique, and an enthusiasm for the lessons and for the pieces she’s working on with Kai."
"Took my daughter to Mrs Deepali for our first class in Painting and Drawing, with curiosity to see how she'd teach a 9 year old. Was baffled to see teh re
My daughter has started recurring lessons with this teacher.
I like her patience, and her result oriented skills."
"I’ve been wanting to learn to paint for years but it seemed like an expensive thing to get into. Eileen provides materials for beginners which is really h
elpful because you feel like you can experiment more without making a big commitment. Her lessons are challenging but relaxed and her paintings are awesome and inspiring!"
"Amber taught me how to do a painting of a snow man so I can give to my mom for Christmas and she did a wonderful job teaching to where I can understand. A
nd it turned out great."
"I've known Marina for a very long time and while I haven't taken any classes yet, I most definitely would recommend her to anyone who's looking for a good
art teacher. She is a very talented artist and has a rare ability to inspire people to be creative. Her students' paintings are awesome and always make me smile looking at them."
"David is an excellent artist who has years of experience in teaching art. I have been a student for 3 years and I have come so far as an artist. David has
taught me how to see the world in a different light. I have and would recommend anybody who has an interest in art to take lessons from David. He is able to take anybody with the passion to become the artist they strive to be. He is an amazing teacher!"
"I haven't picked up art supplies since high school and Eileen was such a delight and was so supportive of my pitifully lapsed skills. Her studio is ever
ything you imagine a Brooklyn artists studio would be. Would like a little Eileen sitting on my shoulder guiding me through life, like she did through my painting lesson. 10/10 will take lessons again."
"Deron is very patient. He teaches me different techniques from start of painting, to finishing touches. He is knowledgeable and can convey them clearly. H
e makes the painting session fun and I like the interaction with him. Great teacher !!!"
