I've been teaching ballet for over twenty years. My ballet teacher was a Bolshi alumnai. He and his dad both danced for the Bolshi before they came to America. I teach a combination of Vaganova and my own updated style to keep my students interested in the style. I use classical music and pop to help students gain a love and appreciation for the style.

About Kay
I have been teaching Piano for 16 years now. I have taught students from age 2 1/2 - Adult. I was self-taught when I was a kid and begun taking formal lessons as a very young adult in my early twenties. I graduated from CSULB with my BA in Music with a concentration on Voice. As a Music major you spend a lot of time at the Piano. I became a member of MTAC in 2004 and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in 1998. I have a great passion for Music and a bigger passion for the Piano and sharing the wonders of how beautiful the Piano really is.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my opinion, piano is the hardest instrument to learn but the most rewarding. If you can play piano you can pretty much play any instrument. I believe that a piano lesson should be fun. I'm a strict teacher with a smile and a giggle. I push my students to greatness while helping the
m love the piano through the good times and the bad. I'm a very encouraging but honest teacher. I compliment when warranted and I assess not so good performances in an honest but encouraging manner. I always let a student know that though their performance was not their best, they can and will improve. It's always only a matter of time. I use the Schaum and Nevin series depending on the student's personality. I teach Classical and Pop Music. It's important for a student to learn the Classics just as important as it is for them to play things they like. I find the happy balance between the two. I teach Beginning to Intermediate levels. I also like to incorporate Music theory into the lessons because understanding the mechanics of Music helps make playing and creating Music much easier to accomplish. A typical lesson will start off with a hand drill warm up. We then will move on to the lesson book and repertoire. Theory will be assigned as homework. I look it over at the beginning of the lesson and discuss it and answer any questions in the last five minutes of class. Baby lessons go as followed: 15 mins. of play time and 15 mins of Music theory. I like to keep structure in my lessons but sprinkle a little joy and laughter to keep the atmosphere light. It makes for a much more attentive Piano student.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to have a Piano or Keyboard of some sort. I may provide music on occasion.

*** Specialties ***
Classic and Pop

Trained in Ballet technique at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Jones Haywood Dance School, Ballet Met, University of California Los Angeles and The Ohio State University , I look forward to giving beginners a good foundation upon which to expand their dance vocabulary. We will explore movement vocabulary as well as the French translations so the steps will be easier to remember. For beginners we will study at the barre mostly and work our way to center - adagio and petite allegro. If you would like to do half strength and flexibility training half barre, that might be a good option if you aren't physically active.

About Imani
Hello!
My name is Imani and I am a professional dancer, having danced with Taurus broadhurst Dance company, Bebe Miller, and Dayton Contemporary Dance company's Crystal Perkins. I have recently received my BFA in Dance from The Ohio State University after studying at Duke Ellington School for the Arts and CityDance Conservatory.

I have also trained at BalletMet, Jones Haywood Dance School, University of California Los Angeles, under the tutelage of Irene Tassadembo and others in Burkina Faso, and under the tutelage of Kaustavi Sarkar. I am trained in Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Modern Dance (Horton technique), Contemporary and Odissi (Classical Indian). I have completed my Mancha Pravesh in Odissi Dance.

I have taught to people of all ages (3-60) internationally. Some of the places I have taught are : CityDance, Columbus Refugee and Imm
igration Services, King Arts Complex, The Phillips School, The Highwood Theatre, and Wuhan University (Wuhan, China).

I was Captain of (and competed Internationally with) OSU Nashaa ( The Ohio State University's Co-Ed Bollywood Dance team).

I am so excited to teach new students, and I hope you'll be one of them!

I've studied ballet (eventually getting to pointe) on and off for seven years with a number of teachers using different technique standards. If ballet is something you'd like to try, or perhaps you're an actor looking for more movement training, I'd love to teach you! While I could teach up to an intermediate level, I prefer working with beginners one-on-one. Private lessons allows me to take the time to show you the ropes and proper technique without the pressure of a fast-paced classroom environment. This can be especially helpful for those who may be unsure about dancing in front of others or are coming at it past the "typical" ballet age and are yet to find a class that makes them feel at home! I have this problem myself and I am only 25 (a lot of ballet classes near me have mainly young teens as students)! So whatever your goals are with ballet, or if it's just something you want to try out, let's talk and make a plan for some training! I also love working with kids on dance!

About Carissa
Hi! I'm Carissa, a working actor and playwright, and would love to work with you on your craft! I grew up heavily immersed in the arts from a young age. For Middle School and High School I attended one of the top Performing Arts schools in the State of California, where I was able to take classes such as ballet, tap, jazz, acting, and playwriting daily. After that, I earned a spot in, and graduated from, the BFA Acting program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. After taking a year to work professionally in theatre and television, I moved to Ireland to earn my MFA in Playwriting from The Lir Academy (an affiliate school of London's RADA). Teaching has been a big part of my life, from private study to running theatre camps for kids. I'm well versed in the drama school audition trail and would love to help you prepare fo
r this exciting time! I also offer playwriting lessons/critique, and beginner lessons in dance (ballet, jazz, tap). I look forward to hearing from you!

As a kid I loved how graceful and beautiful ballet made me feel! I am so excited to get to share that with you! I love teaching kids, but any beginner is just great! my prices are very flexible!

About Em
Hey there! I am a very creative, kind, and vibrant teacher! I love to teach anything I am passionate about, and have experience teaching in a foreign country as well! I have tutored in a variety of subjects, and always have students tell me how much fun they have in their lessons, and sometimes they even end up gaining a new appreciation for the subject I am teaching them! I am a firm believer in teaching with love and patience, and love to get to know my students and form a good relationship with them (especially if it is more than a one time lesson). My prices are flexible, and skill set is pretty wide! So excited to get to work with you!!

She was a great teacher! Could do all the moves with ease and was patient with those who couldn’t. She went slow enough for us to keep up and get a good result. She kept it fun but yet relaxing and enjoyable.

I had this very short deadline on a track that I was working on, and I was a bit stressed because I, at that moment, didn't have enough knowledge about audio editing and mixing vocals in Logic. I got Elena recommended by a friend and I'm really glad for that. I got the help I needed and she also inspired me to continue learning (and now I'm certified in Logic Pro X as well!! =) )

I'm not the quickest to learn new things (I need detailed explanations), but Elena showed patience and great skills in explaining things in a very easy way.

- I'd like to give my warmest recommendations!
