I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.

Everything from a I IV V to Key Signatures, strum patterns and Bum-Ditty bluegrass basics. I'm familiar with the modern greats and would love to help any new student discover their undiscovered talent.

you will learn: songs(repetorie), ear training, music theory, exercises to increase dexterity, and how to compose (write your own music and improvise!)...

I focus on bridging the students listening and personal taste to their playing. The students learn ear training and technical studies that fit the context of their musical goals.

I love bluegrass. My special interests range from Merle Travis, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Tony Rice but also include newer groups like the Punch Brothers and Allison Krauss.
