Spence is a great teacher who’s taught for many years.I have been with Spence for a year. I am 71 years old and was unsure I could start at this age. He is a calm and encouraging teacher with infinite knowledge and teaching skills. Under his guidance I am playing songs, transposing basic keys, strumming, and getting into a little bit of music theory, something that was completely foreign to me. He is the kind of instructor that makes you eager to practice and to show him what you have accomplished In between lessons. Ben has been instructing my 2 kids (now aged 11 and 9) in-home for at least 5 years. We started off with piano for the first few years but then switched to a combination of piano and acoustic guitar (half a session dedicated to each instrument).

He is patient, kind, and highly knowledgeable. I clearly see the upward trajectory in my kids' musical capabilities. One of my kids can be difficult to deal with, especially when he is tired, but Ben would mold his approach to the lesson on the spot to keep my kid engaged (e.g., instead of continuing the lesson on the actual piano, he'd switch to a fun music-oriented game).

"I have been a classical guitar student of Bill's for the past 6 months. In retirement, I have decided to take what was an "off and on" affair with the classical guitar (I'm not a beginner) and, instead, commit the necessary time and energy to truly learning the instrument. These have been my first serious classical guitar lessons. Prior to these lessons, I was entirely "self-taught" which means I created a whole bunch of bad habits for myself and was not progressing at all. Bill refers to me as a "remedial" student which I think is a perfect description of my playing. "Ahmad is no doubt one of the most humble, approachable, and skillful guitar teacher you can find around the bay area. I have been studying with Ahmad for the past 3 and a half months. Ahmad was not the first music instructor I had. He is however, the best one so far by a large margin. Since the first lesson Ahmad has been extremely professional and organized in his teaching methods. He is able to quickly identify my strengths and weaknesses as a player, tailor his lessons to fit my capabilities, and help me improve in great effectiveness.
