Celine has been a wonderful teacher and my daughter loved the singing classes...She's been very patient with my daughter ,who was a beginner in singing ,and encouraged her and helped her built confidence in singing the songs.

I started with Celine for piano, but then we started doing half piano and half singing lessons.

Celine and I went through a piano lessons book. It was very helpful learning how to learn a song. I got used to reading notes and how to practice. I came from being self taught through youtube and playing by ear for around a year or 2, but I never learned the traditional and more classical way. I really learned a lot from that.

Singing was more exciting because I grew at a pretty fast rate. Celine is really knowledgable about the different ways a person can use their voice and selecting out warm ups to help the growth of a specific singing technique. My voice got stronger and more stable. My head voice is more natural. My singing background was just doing it for fun since I was a kid.

Me and Celine both like kpop and korean music so I sang those as well as some English and Japanese songs. So pretty flexible there. She was able to give me really good recommendations for songs to sing based on my voice.

Celine is very helpful and has been very supportive in finding songs that fit my current range but also challenge me!

I started teaching private lessons when I was in college. During my masters program, I also taught chorus. I have taught private lessons for more than 10 years since I first started. I teach all different levels from beginners to advanced levels, and I have also taught student between the ages of 4 and 80. Classical music for me is the foundation which can help students with many techniques. Using techniques rooted in Classical music can enable the student to be able to sing, play or even compose other style of music. I have found that combining the style that the student loves and classical music will motivate them and enable them to be more productive.

I have been teaching this subject for over 16 years. There is no specific curriculum as each student will come to lessons with their own unique skills, needs, and goals. Lessons are tailored to those specifics. Opera voice is for experienced singers. The ability to reading music is mandatory as is access to a piano or keyboard for practicing. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected based on the student's learning needs but also with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

About Troy

Troy is an absolutely magical teacher and mentor. He not only provides caring, personalized instruction that goes far beyond the traditional fundamentals, he really takes the time to push me in ways that I find enjoyable and rewarding. I feel as though my lessons are dynamic and varied enough to keep me always engaged and looking forward to that next session. Best of all, Troy is that special type of guru that really gives you that added incentive to go the extra mile...I never feel a guilt or pressure to be at a certain level or practice a certain amount, I just feel this desire to impress Troy during my next lessons. Awesome stuff - very special guy! Looking forward to a lifetime of learning with Troy!

I believe in the extraordinary power of music to communicate, to inspire and, often, to heal. That belief underlies all my work. I’ve been a classical singer for 30 years and have sung leading soprano roles with the Caramoor Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Britten/Aldeburgh Festival, Glimmerglass Opera, and the Orchestra of St. Luke's, among many others, singing works by Monteverdi, Bach, Händel, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner, Brahms, Vaughan Williams, Britten and many other masters.

My goal is to help you find the power to express through singing your unique self. It doesn't matter whether your voice is professional quality or whether it's even "good" in the conventional sense. It's YOUR voice. It has its own sound and characteristics, its own particular beauty, and the world needs to hear you!

I have advanced training and expertise in classical musical study and vocal pedagogy, but the most important qualities I offer as a teacher are the simple human ...

I started out with no real experience and a bunch of bad habits, and she has been able to effortlessly work with that. I look forward to my lesson with her every week. I knew the moment I saw her profile that she stood out from the rest. Don't hesitate to give her a try!

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
