If you will notice - I am the only accordion teacher that only teaches accordion. AND MY REVIEWS - are ALL for the Accordion!! That is what I play, that is all I play, I have studied with the best - Willard Palmer & Bill Hughes. I have owned and operated an accordion music school for over 20 years - with as many as 300 "accordion" students at any one time.

My philosophy - if it ain't fun - it ain't worth it!!!! I have over 500 accordion arrangements - that I use to teach with. All Genres, Classics to TOP Movie Themes - All Levels!

I have conducted Master Accordion Workshops all over the US and in Alaska. I have produced instructional You Tube lessons and several DVDs.

I have had my own performing combo for 22 years and a long history of strolling in Italian and German restaurants and performing at Ethnic Festivals since I was 7
(Performed with Myron Florin at the Wurstfest in Texas for 10 years!).

I teach the piano keyboard accordion as well as the B & C system Chromatic. I also have written lesson materials for the 3 row Diatonic Accordion. Before I closed the physical studio - I had an accordion teaching staff of over 6 instructors and 125 students.

*** On-Line Lesson***
Lesson material will be emailed in advance. Min. Charge based on selections used.

*** Lesson Materials ***
I use Palmer & Hughes instruction books and personally arranged selections for the taste of the student. I use personally produced accompaniment CDs for enhanced performance of students. I train classically (you can chose to learn all your technique and chord progressions) and instruct to the style the student wants. Pop & Standards, Italian, German, French, Cajun, Tex-Mex, etc.

About Charles
Outside of teaching percussion and musical performances I have worked in special education for over 15 years.

My life of music started knee high at the age of 4 playing drums and piano. At the age of 15 I gave my first musical performance, from that stage on I knew my talent had found a home.

In the 11th grade I toured with a local funk group in Washington DC through 26 cities learning music and the life of travel at an early age. During my last high school and college years I performed extensively playing classical, jazz, rock, funk, go-go, gospel, marching band, R&B, and with local rap artist.

Recording credits and highlights include work with Def Jam artist Steady Eddy, recording go-go Mario with Double Agent Rock, and recordings with Little Benny and the Masters.

My other musical passion is teaching. Throughout my col
lege years and beyond I served as a percussion instructor and assistant band director at Morgan State University. As part of the Morgan State University Magnificent Marching Machine I served as a instructional leader in music and performance mentor for the team. I taught part time as a percussion instructor at Milford Mill High School giving individual lessons for over 10 years.

Musical inspiration is an important element to the refinement of my craft. A few personal musical influences are Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Neil Peart (Rush), Dennis Chambers, (Santana), George Gray (Roberta Flack), Ricky Wellman (Miles Davis), Quinton Mack-Davis (Rare Essence) and Michael Bland (Prince).

*** Lesson Details ***
Within the first three months of lessons student will gain a strong foundation of sight reading and basic drum techniques in both rudiment studies and playing the drum set. My style of teaching music consist of breaking each skill down into chunks and allowing students to learn using their individual learning styles. I utilize rewards for perfect practice and each lesson contains a safe, fun learning atmosphere with students exhibiting in their best behavior.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in store front studio, drum kit provided

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring a practice pad. Students should have a drum set.

Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%.

Charles is calm and patient, and yet gently pushes for better and better performance every lesson. As the parent, it is amazing to me to see how much my son has learned in only 3 lessons... and working on a drum set right from the beginning has been very inspiring to my son. We highly recommend Charles!

About Matthew
Matthew grew up in Austin, TX attending the Waldorf School and playing music of various styles on saxophone and guitar. For his musical education, he took 8 years of private lessons starting at age 12.

His first teacher was Billy Green aka Wil Greenstreet who currently plays a residency atop the Empire State Building. Green taught guitar and saxophone lessons to Kelly back to back and unleashed a powerful passion for music within. When Green moved to NY, Kelly was refered to Scott McIntosh, a world-traveled saxophonist and arranger from Quebec. For Kelly that was when it got real..

After 5 years of jazz theory and saxophone lessons with McIntosh, Matthew was invited to join a funk band in High School and the band's SXSW showcase at the old Alligator Grill was the beginning of his musical career.

Over the past 12 years Kelly h
as gone on to play with a long list of different ensembles across many state lines.

At age 19 he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and once there studied under virtuoso saxophonist Joshua Smith and master guitarist Andy Tran.

Kelly found a residency with a local San Jose group and did six months with The Craig Robinson Blues Band while he was gaining music students and slowly transitioning into a full-time music life. He also played with Lowfat an established Bay Area original dance band, was hired by the Darell Patrick Jazz Ensemble for private events and recorded for The Jake Makey Band before moving to Colorado in search of a higher chance of musical success paired with a lower cost of living.

In Fort Collins, CO Matthew sat in as a guest artist regularly with local jazz pianist Mark Sloniker at his residency at Jay's Bistro. Busking paid very well and helped keep the bills paid. Then Kelly could pursue playing 2 instruments in an original jam band The Hot Coal.

While in Fort Collins Kelly gave 6 months of guitar lessons to 2016 Scene Magazine coveree Elise Wunder to help her accomplish her performance goals. Today she travels the world playing her amazing original music.

In 2011 Matthew felt the need to return home. Knowing Austin is the real place to share the music and being from here, he rode his bicycle back here and eventually found the musical projects that he plays in today.

Just had my first lesson with Matt and had to come home and immediately write about it. Matt is a fantastic teacher with loads of music knowledge. He truly has a soul for music and can easily break down complicated musical teachings to a beginner level. He is extremely talented and personable and I cannot wait for my next lesson. I have not felt this excited about playing in along time and a lot of this excitement is due to how much learned in my first session with Matt and how much more I have to look forward to. Matt is a true musician in every since of the word and I highly recommend him to anyone that wants more than just to learn how to play notes but learn to play soulful, beautiful music of any genre.

I recommend Matt to be your music teacher.
He's nice, chill, fun, easy to talk to, flexible...

I learned so much from his lessons because he can come down to beginners level.
The way he explains things are simple and easy to understand even I didn't have any music background.

I really enjoyed lessons from him. If my time works out, I would love to come back to his class again!

Very good at explaining concepts in a second, or sometimes third, way so that her student can make an inner connection. I also admire the way she organizes her lessons so we refresh and enhance the previous session and then move on to new technique. Appreciate the professional way she communicates as necessary outside class, too.

I have been singing my entire life, starting as a boy soprano in my hometown Methodist church. I began playing piano at age six. From that time on, it was a journey of musical adventure, singing, playing piano and collaborating on productions.
I went on to get my Bachelor's Degree in vocal performance at UNC-G, where I performed lead roles in countless operas and musicals, as well as recitals, oratorios, and various church concerts. My next venture took me to NYC where I received my Master's Degree in opera at The Juilliard School. While living in the city for twenty+ years, I performed in every genre of music, even choral music, sharing the stage with Luciano Pavarotti, Marilyn Horne and Madeleine Kahn, to name a few. I was also in off-Broadway shows, while also working as an actor and model in commercials, print and runway work.
I rel

I am a violin teacher serving the Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg/Stafford area in Virginia. I have 16 years experience with the violin, and have been teaching privately since 2015. I graduated from the University of Mary Washington in December of 2017.

I am passionate about teaching, and always make sure to provide the highest quality musical education. Students will learn how to read music, understand basic theory, and play their instrument with confidence. I always treat my students and their parents with respect. I believe it is important for the student to enjoy their lessons, so I do try to make them fun!

I use the Suzuki method as my curriculum. I start off my students with classical music, but once they develop the necessary skills needed to play their violin with good technique, I give them the opportunity to branch out into other
genres like blues, rock, and fiddle.

Look forward to hearing from you! And don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.
