Chris is a fantastic instructor! Not only did he work with our son to teach him the basics (as someone new to an instrument having never played before), he also motivated him and took a genuine interest in his progress. He does a fantastic job and is a skilled instructor!... and did it all on-line due to COVID and overcame that obstacle too!

Chris has been great with my middle school band student teaching/coaching the fundamentals and making trumpet fun again. My kiddo looked forward to his weekly lessons and enjoys band again! His confidence level while playing has soared. Definitely recommend.
Keira F.
Chris is kind and patient. He is not a French horn player, but is able to teach the basic components. He discusses the form of playing a lot. My daughter has enjoyed learning from him.

As a collegiate educator, I have been a tuba instructor on TakeLessons since 2014, and have been teaching all the brass instruments since 2006.

For the beginner level, I have introduced many students to their first instrument ensuring that fundamentals are in place. At the intermediate level, I have helped many students advance in competitions and seat assignments within their band program. As a collegiate educator, I have given masterclasses at universities and private lessons to music performance students preparing for auditions and solo recitals.

My students truly enjoy the online interaction during their lessons.

I have taught a wide variety of ages - everyone from 10 years old to 76 years old. One of the great joys I have in teaching is that each student brings their own unique strengths to lessons. My goal is to raise their level of playing while always having fun.

About Jeremy

My name is Jeremy S. and I have been on TakeLessons since 2014 and have been teaching privately since 2006. As a college instructor, I teach in the brass areas at The Ohio State University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Kenyon College, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The trombone is my prim

I have been an orchestral tubist and university teacher for the past 10 years. My students regularly have been featured in the region band, all-state band, scholarship recipients, graduate assistantships, regional and international competitions, and regional and international tuba euphonium conferences. I have a strong focus on developing the fundamental of brass playing, so the instrument acts as an extension of their artistry.

About Douglas

Dr. Douglas B, Jr is the Tuba and Euphonium Faculty at Winthrop University, where he teaches applied tuba and euphonium, directs the Winthrop University Tuba-Euphonium Choir, coaches brass chamber music, teaches brass methods, introduction to music technology, and serves as coordinator of recording

Tuba and euphonium players looking for their Master Yoda need look no further. Plus, he's a fun guy to work with and is flexible when unexpected life events come up. His rates are a bargain when you consider his level of experience and the quality of his instruction. 5 stars.

John is a committed and passionate instructor who is willing to go the extra mile for his students (and their parents). I approached John to help bring the spark and joy for Trumpet back for my 13 yo son and boy has he delivered! He is patient, supportive and understanding but at the same time creative, consistent and persistent to help my son continue to excel. He finds what is relevant so that the student remains interested and engaged. I am so pleased we have found him and would recommend him 100% to anyone looking for a music teacher.

"Jeremy has been great in relating to my junior high age son playing tuba. Developing a rapport via online lessons was a natural progression for the YouTube generation. Jeremy was encouraging and helped develop and grow technical skills to move from last chair to first chair and promoted to next band in the next semester! The ease and flexibility in scheduling allows him to continue in his lessons through busy concert seasons. Looking forward to adding his younger brother to the lesson with Jeremy soon!"

They have really enjoyed learning from someone whose specialty is brass and have been motivated to practice on their own. Highly recommend!"

"My son was very nervous about his first online lesson. His instructor had him start right in on the lesson, which helped my son quickly get over his nerves. By the end of the lesson, he was all smiles and feeling very confident about his ability to play a very hard piece for his solo contest. He is looking forward to his next lesson."
