Hi, I'm Amara! I help empower kids in their creativity and ability to improve. I am an active, registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and I have a masters degree in violin performance.

Whether you're 3 or 103, if you're playing violin (or starting to play!) I hope you're EXCITED about it!! Over the years, my students have said that their lessons are/have been their favorite times of each week. I believe learning to play viola should be full of joy, learning, thinking, and feeling. Hello! I've been performing for 21 years and teaching for 15 years. Teaching has always been a passion for me! Whether you're an adult trying the violin or viola for the first time, or a dedicated student aiming to major in music, I can adapt my approach to suit your needs. I will help you build confidence in your playing through presenting attainable goals each week, while also providing appropriate challenges. I aim to help you feel comfortable and natural as you play by prioritizing proper posture and technique.

I have a Master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory in Violin Performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. I have performed in the U.S.A. and Europe, with well-known artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzahk Perlman, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. My teacher training includes the Suzuki method (registered for books 1-5) and the Mark O'Connor method (certified for books 1-2).

I started playing in orchestra when I was 9, I have been teaching orchestra in the public school system since 2016, and I have been teaching private lessons for over 8 years now! I am primarily a viola player, but these days, as a teacher, I teach more violin players than anything else! I love string instruments so much, and I love getting to share the experience of making music with string instruments with others.
