My goal is to create a positive, supportive learning environment focused on individual needs and desires to help young musicians succeed. In other words, I focus on what my students want to learn in order for them to not only enjoy the process of practicing and studying music, but to develop a personal drive that will lead them to success. Each student is different, prefers different sounds, different styles, and has a different way of understanding what is shown to them. Students will have the opportunity to explore the areas of music they find interesting, whether that is studying music theory, playing their favorite pop music, or composing their own original ideas.

Private Cello Teacher

I have been doing cello for close to 10 years now, and as of 3 years ago, I discovered that I love teaching! It's become a favorite way of mine to inspire other's to be the best musician they can be! The cello isn't a particularly easy instrument to learn, but I will say that it is SO worth it. It takes work, but what doesn't? I would encourage everyone to play an instrument! It just so happens that I can only help with a few of those. ;)

About Leah

I am 16 years old and a member of the Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra, and the principle cellist in the Play and Sing His Praises Homeschool Orchestra, where I also get to have the pleasure of being able to teach children and adults an instrument, when they otherwise might not have had a chance.

As a cellist with 18 years of playing experience and 5+ years of teaching I have learned that music can change your life at any age and even can help you heal from whatever struggles life throws at you. Music and learning an instrument can improve your brain functions in a way that no other activity can accomplish. I am so passionate about teaching and customize my teaching style to each student individually because the same approach does not work for everyone. I strongly believe in that and try to get to know my students, who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how I can help to overcome those. I get very involved with my students and build a personal relationship with each one of them to further help them with cello. I've had some wonderful instructors myself including Amir Eldan and Hans Jensen who taught me not only how to play the instrument itself but also how to use those skills that come with being a musician in life.
In my lessons I focus on ...

I studied under Leilah for several years and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. She was my first teacher; she showed me the basics of cello and taught me in Suzuki books 1-6. One thing Leilah does that not many cello teachers do is play with her students. At my lessons, Leilah always had her cello out and was ready to demonstrate a technique or playing style, which helped immensely with my understanding of music. Having Leilah as a teacher has given me the skills and preparation I need to play in college. I would recommend her to any cello student who is willing to work hard to improve.

"Arlette is a wonderful teacher and has really clicked with my daughter. My daughter looks forward to her lesson each week. She is teaching her how to read and understand the music as well as how to play the cello. Here sessions are very relaxed and fun and I am confident that my daughter will not only learn how to play the cello, but love playing the cello. I can see how she passes that passion on to the student. If you are looking for a fun, passionate and well education teacher to work with your children, she is the one.

Sincerely,

Karynn Bonner"

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
