My goal is to help you define realistic goals and then, how to obtain them. If you are unsure of what your goals are, that's okay too. We can cover the basics and in time, find out what your musical interests are. However, I expect my students to work towards improving their skills by practicing a little each day, or as I like to say students need to be hitting the woodshed.
My lessons are tailored toward each student's goals but I always include certain topics. The core of my teaching involves a clear understanding of rhythm, scales, chords, and music notation. In addition, I enjoy music theory and always work it into my lesson. Personally, knowing the form and function, or the why of song structure is important for musicians to understand.

I came to Andrew as an intermediate-to-advanced level pianist looking to learn jazz piano. Andrew does a great job pacing his lessons to push new ideas and techniques without being overwhelming. Mary was a fun and patient piano lesson teacher. I have never taken any music lessons before so we started with the basics but she did a good job of finding the pace that I learned at. She taught slow enough for me to catch on, but not too slow to where I felt like my 30 min lessons were a waste of time/money.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel the rest of my lessons with Mary because I was becoming too busy with work to stay committed to my lessons and practice. If I ever take lessons again I'll definitely sign up with Mary again, zero complaints.
