I am an experienced university instructor with a true passion for the Arabic language and culture. I tailor my lessons to each student's objectives so we focus on what you want to learn. Arabic can be a very difficult language, especially for native English speakers, but I can show you how to learn the language more easily and to leverage your own language learning skills.
About MICHAEL
I love learning new languages myself and sharing them with others. This has fueled my drive to learn new languages as well as teach. I have learned various languages through traditional classroom studying, private tutoring, and self instructi
I am a native English speaker and have acquired near native proficiency in Arabic by living in the Arabic speaking world for almost 7 years and teaching the language for over 15 years. My study of Arabic and Middle Eastern History led me to pursue additional studies in French, Farsi, and Turkish so that I could conduct more in depth research in these languages and also to assist me as I traveled through the region. Each language helps to unlock some of the more difficult aspects of the other language and helps to explain the similarities and differences of the languages and provides me with a unique set of tools to explain the "how?" and "why?" questions that generates from students' natural curiosity.
To teach your own native language, in my case English, it is immensely helpful to learn another foreign language. As I struggled to learn to speak others' languages, it helped me greatly to better understand my own. I enjoy using this advantage to help English as a Second Language students understand the intricacies of the language wile quickly grasping the most fundamental aspects required to communicate effectively in English.

Can you imagine an actress giving Arabic lessons! Well that’s me. Are you wondering what could make an actress give Arabic lessons? The answer is love. I love that the Arabic language is built up on emotions and is poetic. Through my work as an actress I have to use perfect language as well as perfect skills in delivering the language. Actors in Syria need to have very good Arabic, especially Fusha. Being an Arabic native speaker doesn’t mean that your Fusha is good. My Fusha is good because I’ve always loved reading both novels and poetry, and because I used to write in Arabic newspapers, and beside all of these things, I had the chance to practice my Fusha through my work as an actress.
I started tutoring Arabic four years ago. I teach both Fusha and Syrian dialect for children and adults. Through the years I’ve worked on making my lessons full of fun and energy. My lessons are definitely unconventional with a lot of activities in and out the class. Sometimes I cook Syrian food with
About Raghad
I arrived to the United States of America recently, and this is a great thing because my Arabic is still fresh and strong. I try my best not to use English during my classes to help students learn as much as they can, and to do so I love my lessons to be challenging but at the same time full of fun and energy. I use my experience as an actress to deliver language in a creative way. while taking a lesson with me you are not
I give an unconventional Arabic lessons with a lot of activities such as cooking Arabic food with my students, watching Arabic movies and discuss it and many other activities related to Arabic language and culture. With children I use drama games and games in general to make learning Arabic a fun thing to do. I try my best to make my classes full of passion and enthusiasm. I am currently a fellow teacher with GLN (Global Languages Network), GLN is an NGO located in Washington DC. I also give Private Arabic tutor both in Virginia and DC for children and adults.
I chose to tutor Arabic not because it was my specialization at university but because I love Arabic, I really enjoy tutoring Arabic but what makes me continue is my students feed back, and the feeling that they are enjoying my class, and the moment I lose this is the moment when I quit tutoring.
