Hello! I’m Michael, and I play trombone for the United States Army Band. My lessons focus on fundamentals of playing that last a lifetime!

I am an experienced teacher, having been a low brass teacher for over a decade. Over 90% of my students that study privately through their senior year of high school receive some form of college scholarship for musical ability, as well as excellent standardized test scores. Additionally, my students have received placement in state rankings for organizations such as NYSSMA, TMEA, ASBOA, as well as Interlochen and Tanglewood summer institutes.
My lessons are customized to each students needs and goals, with the primary goal being a cultivation of great fundamentals.
As a performer, my experience as a freelancer in NYC and performing with word class ensembles like the Metropolitan Opera, Broadway shows, and chamber ensembles makes me an excellent choice.

Jordan started teaching my son trumpet when he was 7 and we later added guitar lessons. In the past 8 years, my son has shined in both instruments in marching, concert, and jazz bands. As a musician, myself, I can appreciate how my son can master very difficult music as if he was an adult.

Mr. Arnold has a very thorough knowledge of music and what it takes to physically create music. If you don't understand something one way, he will explain it in other way's that you do understand. He seems to have no limit to his patience and caring about his student's. A great sense of humor, a guy you would like as a neighbor.

We found Mr. Arnold to be one of the best tutors around. He was easy to work with our changing schedule. He covered all the areas we needed, and was able to provide instruction through all levels of talent. We felt blessed for all the help he gave us, but also for the positive roll model he was.

Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.
Romy R.
Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

This Cole is King! I would give Cole 10 stars if it were possible. I had lessons with Cole in the summer of 2014 on the trumpet and let me tell you the guy is a giant on trumpet. I learned so much. I learned more in a summer's lessons with Cole than most people get in years. He made learning trumpet a lot of fun but at the same time I leaned basic skills, like how to keep beat and count. Can't say enough.

I help my students build a strong foundation in the fundamentals of trombone playing using my own material, classic books from the trombone pedagogy, and current songs we learn by ear. I make an effort to find out what music the student is interested in and what they find enjoyable to play and shape the lesson plan around that. I find this approach makes the instrument fun to play!

I am an audiophile that enjoy all types of music and have experience playing in a wide variety of genres like jazz, rock/pop, ska/reggae and classical.

I thoroughly enjoyed having Matt as my teacher for 4 years.

Matt is patient, thoughtful, and talented. Matt helped me to improve my trumpet playing, and I also learned a lot about music theory and how to play by ear.

I highly recommend Matt!

hello:

Matt Hull was my trumpet teacher for 2 years, before he moved to NYC. Matt is a fine teacher and a fine person. He was always ready to respond to my questions and respected my own ideas about what i was trying to accomplish. Matt is patient, open, and prepared for the lessons. Matt is knowledgable about both classical and jazz teaching, and has a strong background due to his experience at Berklee. I think anyone, from beginner to advanced students would benefit from working with him

My son learned more in his first lesson with Jeremy than in a year of private face to face lessons at school. Most importantly, when the lesson was finished, my son wanted to keep playing and playing because he was so excited about what he learned."

"I went to Mr Espinosa's home to take my lesson - the place is right next to the 135th subway stop, very convenient! Mr Espinosa was patient, understanding, and friendly. I was a little worried that a professional like him would laugh at the embarrassing skills of an adult like mine - didn't happen. He was down to earth despite his great playing, kind of more like a friend or a big buddy rather than a teacher. I think our lesson brought me much improvement! He also taught me some helpful daily practice routines. Another little touching detail was he provided me with free drinks and snacks, something none of my other teachers have done before. His studio was also fully equipped: it has a piano, great stereo, stands, and music books."
