About Farobag
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

*** CD's***

I've been playing a few instruments for 23 years, and finally decided to get into violin. Farobag made me realize that I know next to nothing about the violin, and there is so much to learn. I played only a few notes in my first lesson, but his instruction was worth every penny. I am very excited for the next lesson and look forward to learning everything I can from Farobag. Highly recommended.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

We will make sure each student understands the foundation, then build from there. Some students require different approaches to learning, and I work with the students' strengths to help them build their knowledge.

About Victoria
Vicky is a music teacher originally hailing from Cocoa Beach, FL. She has been teaching since 2008, starting in the Central Florida area and then in the Southwest Virginia region. She studied music therapy at the graduate level through Radford University, and general music, with coursework in education, religious studies, and vocal training at the undergraduate level through the University of Central Florida, Orlando. At UCF she has studied with Dr. Jeremy Hunt and Kimberly Saunders Randall, and her past voice teachers include, Jason Reichman and Young Ju Lee, both FSU alumni. She started her music career with piano 20 years ago under the wing of Diana Ryder, and from there her love for music grew. Growing up, she listened to a variety of music, classical, musical theatre, Disney, pop, and Vietnamese folk and pop music. Ms. Ryder expos
ed her to a plethora of new genres and from there she developed her own style. Piano-wise her primary focuses are the romantic and baroque era, especially Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. Vocally, her styles branch musical theatre, opera, pop, country, and on occasion touches on jazz. She has made the effort to learn as much as she possibly can about music, the different ways to play, to sing, while still keeping true to her own style. She hopes that her students have that same drive and be open to learning all sorts of music!

Since I travel for some lessons, please double check with me to make sure that I can travel to your lesson in a timely manner.

*** Lesson Details ***
I love to have fun, but I believe that in order to do so, you must know your stuff. I shall provide the resources for you to learn, and all you need to bring is your brain, eager to soak up information so that we can make music!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room: Piano, mirror

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect them to provide a piano for piano lessons, and I can provide an instrument for voice lessons. I will find the books or media the student may need, and expect the student/parents of the student are responsible for the costs.

About Akib
I am eager and equally interested in applying to offer my skill. With the academic and leadership qualities that you are looking for, I believe I would be able to contribute to the objectives.

I am presently enrolled in New York Institute of Technology as a junior in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and complete my bachelors by December 2015. I am thrilled to know that you are looking for a tutor and I feel that this is the perfect platform for me.

This tutor does not fill the total time paid for. If the student has no more questions, rather than structuring the lesson like other tutors he will simply finish early! I am sure he is very knowledgable, but his accent is very strong, making learning a newer subject harder through trying to understand new words with a strong accent.
A fan was constantly ticking in the background, and he admitted his internet connection was poor.

Sometimes calculus looks scary. It usually happens when things that we are doing are too abstract for us. I help by connecting calculus to real life and helping my students to understand why we are solving this problem this way and probably invent their own way to solve problems. It's not only helping to improve the grades but also helps with confidence.

About Marina
Hi, my name is Marina. I have a masters degree in Math and I'm from Russia. So, I could help you with both subjects:). I love to work with you on your goals and help you to achieve things that you set for yourself. I am also flexible with time and different types of math support.

I love tutoring students who are struggling in their current class, starting with what the student knows already and building on it so they are able to work problems in their present class.

I also tutor SAT prep; students are asked to buy an book that has SAT questions and work through it. I give help on math vocabulary, eliminating answers, and applying what they know to the problems. If your child needs to improve their SAT math score, but doe
sn't have time or motivation to take a class, private tutoring is a great option, as we are working only on problems they are struggling with.

I majored in Mathematics at UT Austin and got to take Calculus 1, 2, and 3 with some of the best professors at the university. I make sure to go over the understanding behind the problem in order to help my student get a hold of what exactly is going on with the underlying concept. I focus on repetition as well, for practice helps a lot in calculus, and test taking strategies for Calculus tests.

About Jaime
Hello! I am an avid musician around town, a graduate from UT Austin with a B.S. in Mathematcs, and I just finished my first year of service with Americorps teaching literacy! Iā€™m extremely passionate about helping others learn and express themselves. Guitar is a cornerstone of my life and being able to share my 14 years of knowledge with others, guide them, and help them learn to play their favorite music on stage or write their own songs is amazing. From studios downtown, to the stage during SXSW, I offer experience based teaching on everything guitar and music. I have always loved math since I was young and was very excited to study it in college. I understand that this can be a frustrating subject, and I aim to get my students to a high level of preparedness and comfortability that will transfer over into their performance in the class
room and tests. I aim for the same high level of performance in math in reading as well. I have always loved reading but I never knew how to teach this important skill. During my service term with Americorps, I gained the knowledge and skills to teach early literacy and get students reading at grade level or help them get a head start in their elementary school.
