I am not only passionate about violin but a people lover! I enjoy working with young ones and helping adults achieve their musical goal on their bucket list. My 10 years of violin experience has made me into the person I am today, and I can not imagine life without music. I want to teach my students the beauty of the violin and that it is a fun hobby. I have studied the violin with Manuel Diaz, Sylvia Whers, Tzu-yi Chen, Ruslan Apostolov, Tian Xu, Gina Moody, Lazslo Stan, James Palmer, Jon Carmack, and Boris Abromov. Studying with several teachers has made me learn through different perspectives which I can share with my students. I have been concertmaster for most of the orchestras I have played in and made a state-wide orchestra audition.

With a PhD in Ethnomusicology and a Masters in Violin Performance, I love teaching everything from Celtic fiddle tunes to classical concertos. I am a Suzuki certified instructor and registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

I am a professional violinist and violist in the Boston area. I am a graduate of the New England Conservatory where I have studied with Miriam Fried, Donald Weilerstein, and Martha Katz. I have performed extensively throughout my life as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player on both the violin and viola in a variety of professional ensembles including substitute viola work with the Borromeo String Quartet. I draw from this performing background to teach my students of all ages and abilities.

I currently act as Adjunct Instructor of Violin and Viola at Merrimack College, where I serve as a primary instrumental teacher to enrolled students. I have also acted as the primary violin teacher for Main Street Music, LLC, in Waltham. Additionally, I run a private studio of 5-10 students as young as 6 and as old as 60. Of these, some never touched an instrument before our first lesson, and some are serious conservatory-bound musicians intending to make a career as a performer.

I have been teaching violin for over twenty five years. I teach both traditional western methods and Suzuki style. I have a Doctorate in Music. I am very experienced teaching all ages and levels. The violin has been a constant and enriching presence throughout my life, and I enjoy helping people engage with this instrument that is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. I’m most fluent in the classical style, but am happy to explore other areas with you as well, from bluegrass to Broadway.
