I also explained my level of experience and was assured Raycurt was qualified to teach at the level I needed, but he came off as less knowledgable than me, which was particularly disappointing.
Worst of all, after multiple hours of speaking on the phone, I couldn't get my money back for this lesson.
I'd strongly recommend not using takelessons at all, they've put a horrible taste in my mouth for their entire service.

Beginner
I'm not currently taking beginner drum students. Please refer to my studio partner Melissa:

Intermediate
Start to learn about polyrhythms as well as developing your ears and body to play songs more accurately. Start to spice up your playing with ways that are interesting, but not intrusive.
Advanced
Really push your polyrhythms and add asymmetrical meters to your repertoire to expand your grasp of complex rhythms. Also learn to use dynamics, cymbal work, and fills to effectively communicate and lead a band without words.

Groove is everything! Drumming is far more about feel than it's about flash. If you want to be the drummer who is in high demand you need to have both feel and flash, but feel is something that is not common. It's easier to learn flashy antics than a meat and potato drumming foundation. I've been a professional musician for over 30 years in the studio and touring all over the US, Mexico, and Central America. I can teach you how to play with seemingly effortless technique, how to bring your internal groove monster out, how to improvise solos, and bring thunderous energy into your playing venues! I look forward to speaking with you soon

I'm not young, and I'm hard to teach music theory to, but he was patient, and is helping me figure a way into learning important stuff that I find kinda dry and not fun to practice. (I'm a good player, but music theory is very challenging to me.)

So you want to be the next Travis Barker, huh? It's a great aspiration, and you can certainly learn a lot from a great drummer like Travis. But limiting yourself to one style is not the way to go. Read on to learn how Chicago teacher Joel S. suggests you approach it... "Can you teach me how to play the drums like Travis Barker?" Beginning students say things like this to me all the time.
