I teach the very beginner to the very advanced levels. combining piano technique with music theory and some history and analysis of western music so the student will understand what he's doing and be able to interpret in the right style of the music he's playing.

About Berthe
My name is Berthe ( pronounced Bert). At the age of 4, I began taking
piano lessons. By age 8, I was performing for the first time at the
Assembly Hall of the American University of Beirut. In 1978, I attended
the Faculty of Music of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik/Lebanon,
where I completed a PhD. in music education and a higher diploma in
piano.
From 1982 to 2000, I taught piano, music theory, music education,
music appreciation, and the history of and analysis of Western music
at the University of the Holy Spirit of Kaslik (USEK), The University of St.
Joseph (USJ) and the Lebanese University (UL).
I recorded my first CD “Rehna Meshouar”, a collection of Lebanese
songs for children, intended to introduce music to kids. I took part in
many educational activities and devoted myself to the promotion of
musical educatio
n to the children. In 1995, I published my first book
“Do-Mi-Sol”, that focuses on a method specifically designed to teach kids
Solfege (oral theory and ear training).

From 1998 to 2001 I was in charge of training aspiring music teachers
at the Ecole Normale in piano, music education, psychology of music
education, and the philosophy of music education.
By the year 2000,I was appointed Director of Studies and the Academic
Secretary of the Music Faculty at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik.
During my tenure, I employed teachers, advised students, and
developed artistic and academic programs. It was my responsibility to
organize studies and examinations, as well as plan, execute, organize studies and examinations, as well as plan and execute
concerts, conventions, and competitions. I have lectured all over Europe and the Middle East, as well as published many articles concerning music and music education.
Since moving to Florida in 2007, I am a professor of piano instruction at St. Petersburg College. I also give private lessons in my studio. I have served as a judge several times at the Bay Ridge Piano Festival.

*** Lesson Details ***
Our musical journey has a smooth and relaxed progression, establishing enough command of the keyboard to allow each student to develop naturally. To make the piano a richer and more rewarding experience, I enjoy introducing a variety of musical styles, from popular favorites to timeless classical pieces, according to the student’s musical tastes.

I believe in a dynamic and responsive method of teaching. I see the student as an active participant in their own learning. Our lesson feels pleasant and joyful, so the student will always delight in playing the piano and creating music. Based on the student’s age and demands, I employ several methods of teaching that lead to the development of observation, concentration, creativity, self-confidence, and personal expression. I encourage and support my students regardless of specific talent, as we move toward an effective and beneficial musical experience.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living room: baby grand piano, additional seating for parents.

*** Specialties ***
I teach Classical music to beginners and advanced students and follow the active method of teaching where the student is not just a receiver but participate in his own learning.

As an older student returning to piano after many years I needed someone with patience, but also someone who would be willing to push me to give my best. She is just the right combination for my needs. She not only knows her subject very well, but is able to transfer her knowledge and passion for music to her students. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Berthe if you truly want to enjoy learning to play piano with passion.

From beginner to advanced. Basic fundamentals of piano and technique. Classical and modern/contemporary styles of playing including chord construction and voicing

About Francisca
I am a very passionate and dedicated instructor. I love working with students at all levels from ages 9 and up, from beginners to experienced adults. It doesn't matter where you are in your musical development, I can help and encourage you to be your very best. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Sydney Australia with (High Class Honors) and Majored in Music Performance and Sub Majors in Composition and Theatre. I have had the opportunity to perform in the USA at various venues and overseas in Australia at the Sydney Opera House to name a few.

My teaching experience dates back to my University days. I was in my first year of my music degree when I applied for my first teaching position at a music school in Australia. I taught there throughout the Four years of my Bachelor's Degree and remained teaching
there after that. I also started teaching at another well respected music school and remained there until the end of 2010. During this time I was very fortunate to have a large database of students who were with me from the beginning of my teaching career up until I left both schools. The only reason I left was as I am also a performer; I was offered an opportunity to perform overseas and i took it. It was a very exciting part of my life as a performer and has helped me grow as an artist and teacher immensely.

In 2012, I relocated to Miami and have been teaching from my private home studio while I continue working on my music career. As a musician and educator, I am very passionate about my teaching and like to bring the best out in my students. Every lesson is tailored specifically to your individual learning needs. I will teach you a vocal technique based on the Seth Riggs Teaching method with my own methods implemented, performance skills, repertoire selection, and audition preparation amongst other skills. It doesn't matter what your desired goal is, I can help you achieve it. The most important part of it all is that you have fun!!

And for piano I like to teach through a series of books depending on your learning levels. We can start at book one, with scales from the book A Dozen a Day, or we can take the the more traditional route of scales, or learn popular songs. This decision can be made by you and I when we meet at our first lesson and discuss what your goals are as a musician.

*** Lesson Details ***
Every lesson is tailored to your individual learning levels. I normally asses this in the first lesson. Lets start with the Singers.

Most singers are looking for help with contemporary popular music so using specific texts are void here. I will teach you a method of singing technique based on the Seth Riggs singing method, implemented with a technique called "Emotion Centered Singing" which will help you understand music beyond melody and composition but also through text and individual interpretation through story telling customed to your needs. I also teach Musical Theatre Singing, pop, rock, jazz, so if these are routes you would like to take, I can help you on your way there. I will help you choose repertoire for auditions, performances, we will work on performance and audition technique and many more fun things!!!

For the Pianists. This also depends on what you want to get out of your lessons. Do you want to learn pop songs? arrangements? Or do you want to learn classical pieces? I ask you all these questions and more at our first lesson to make sure you and I are both happy with the direction we will take. I use either Scale Books or The Dozen a Day Series or the ABRSM Piano series, Alfred's Adult Piano book and many more. Once again the important factor here is Fun based learning!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I provide a full size digital weighted piano for all Lessons, it has various different sounds and a great grand piano sound for piano students. Printer for any homework given, and stationery

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some books for learning and make copies accordingly. The student should have a working piano/keyboard in the home. If i request they purchase a book for their learning development, they are required to purchase it.

*** Specialties ***
For Singing- I teach a method called Speech Level Singing. Similar to the Seth Riggs Speech level singing as well as a technique called Emotion centered singing which deals with connecting with the song and feeling the connection through the core. This is useful for performance and interpretation. I specialize in teaching, Pop, RnB, Musical Theatre, Rock and Folk

For Piano, I use a variety a books. I particularly like the Alfred's series as well as the Bastien Series. I also like to encourage other learning materials for holidays which is lots of fun!! This depends on the students learning level. I asses learning levels in the first lesson and plan lessons accordingly after that in order to have the student progress each week. I teach classical piano and contemporary, pop

I have known Francisca since late 2015 and come to know pretty well. She is an outstanding singer, composer, song writer, actress and musician. I have had the honor to attend many of her performances, including one in Lake Worth, FL as part of the Core Ensemble. All I can say is that until I heard her performance in Lake Worth I had no idea the depth of her talent. She is a great teacher and sets a high, but achievable bar for students. That’s how students grow. If you are lucky enough to have her for your teacher you are in good hands.

Hello future piano students -- welcome!!

Piano is a great starter instrument and you will always sound great on it! Classes begin with introduction to proper hand positions, posture, and placement. Note reading along with proper technique is emphasized. We gradually introduce both hands as we gain more confidence and facility in note-reading.

Basic harmony and theory is also discussed while exploring various styles such as classical, pop, rock, and jazz.

About Nicolas
Hello there, future string players and welcome to my profile!!

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Miami, FL. I started my musical career at the age of 8, singing in chorus, playing the recorder, and shortly afterwards moving to the guitar, and the violin.

When I was 15, I was nominated for a James L. Knight Award in Music, and I performed as a violin soloist with the Miami Beach Symphony Orchestra, and the Greater Miami Youth Symphony playing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G major. One of my most memorable experiences when I was a kid! In high school, I formed my own string quartet and we would perform all over the South Florida community especially at hospitals and for the elderly. At 16 years old, I was also given an internship with the New World Symphony, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, for about 2
years. During this time, I was able to take lessons from master violinists such as Marc Thayer and Glen Cherry. During this time, I was given the opportunity to perform with the New World Symphony at 17 years old for pops concert conducted and performed by Chuck Mangione in El Doral, FL.

I later on accepted a scholarship for violin performance at the University of Miami for my Bachelor of Music, and earned my Master of Music from Florida State University. I also taught string orchestras for 10 years at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, South Florida Youth Symphony as conductor (and now composer!), and conductor of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. I was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Alhambra Orchestra for two seasons under the guidance of my high school orchestra teacher, Mr. Reginald Nicholson (1947-2011). It was here where I was able to work on my compositions, orchestrations, and conduct a fine group of musicians.

I now live in sunny Los Angeles, in the Sherman Oaks area, and I'm loving the new change. I am eager to share my knowledge with new students on various subjects such as learning a string instrument to learning a different language. Please feel free to ask me any questions.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your goals for learning!

LESSON DETAILS
I have been teaching music as an adult, certified teacher since I was in college, but have done teaching as early as 15 years old.

I will help you create a fantastic technical base so you will be able to play with ease as your skill level develops, all while keeping the lessons fun and engaging.

MUSIC STUDIO
Piano, Violin, Guitar, Music Stand, General Teaching Aids, Recording Equipment.

TRAVEL EQUIPMENT
I can provide a music stand and basic materials but the student is expected to have their own instruments and to buy the music I recommend. I can recommend various vendors/shops where you can buy the ideal instrument for your lessons.

EXPERTISE
I am classically-trained musician that also specializes in Tango performance, Latin/Jazz, Rock, and a variety of other styles. I believe that training in the classical aesthetic will create a firm, solid foundation to crossover into other areas listed above. With a good dose of technical exercises, scales, and a variety of repertoire, my students always turn out well-rounded, ready to tackle almost any kind of music they wish to learn.

Thank you for stopping by and let me know what you would like to learn!

I'm 35 years old, originally from South Carolina, and I decided I wanted to take up violin again. I was a violinist in junior high and high school, but quit after high school to pursue other interests. Well, the interest came back decades later! I found Nicolas on here because I live not far from his studio in the Valley and he's been wonderful! He recommended a great place in Studio City that I could buy m new violin and it was a great rec. He's been very patient with me even though I probably talk his ear off. He's really helping me to remember things I forgot and he's very encouraging without being condescending. I just get a comfortable, relaxed feeling from him. Great teacher!

I’m 72 years old and just learning to play the violin. My hands tremble and I suffer from Arthritis. I was a bit apprehensive to start learning violin at my age. Nick quickly put my fears to rest. He’s treated me like a queen since my first lesson. He never rushes me and puts up with my hard hearing too! I look forward to spending weekend mornings with Nick. He is a true Argentinian sweet heart! He has literally changed my outlook on life. Since I lost my husband, I spiraled into deep depression. The violin has given my life a new meaning. Viva Nicolas! Nicolas is a talented musician who is a gifted and natural teacher to young children. My daughter is only three years old and it’s clear that he has a special bond with her. Since she was an infant, he has instilled in her an appreciation for music. Thanks to Nick, my daughter remains fascinated with string instruments and I attribute her ability to carry a tune to Nick’s suggestions when she was a baby. Nick’s mellow personality and ability to connect with young children makes him the perfect music instructor!

My degree is in Music Education from Bob Jones University. I've been teaching private piano lessons for over 15 years.

Before this I home educated both of my two children until they were 14. Both went to college at age 14 and were honor students.

With these years of experience, I'm incredibly skilled at teaching children to be the best they can possibly be no matter their level of talent or ability.

I teach children from around age 4 until 100!

Lisa

About Lisa
For my beginner adult students I can have you playing your favorite song (with both hands) in just a matter of weeks. Yes, I'm a very patient teacher. This seems to be a concern for adult students! :) I love that you're wanting to learn to play!

As for my beginner little kids I use the FJH company curriculum so that they will become well rounded pianist.

Also, I'm able to teach anyone that has a natural ear for playing.

I homeducreated my kids for 16 years so from that experience I'm able to bring a very customized learning atmosphere to each student and their natural learning abilities.

Online lessons are available but I do not travel to homes unless you are elderly and cannot drive.

Please, contact me for specific scheduling.

Hey there – I am so glad that you want to study piano! A little bit about me: I am a graduate of the world-renowned jazz program at the Jacobs School of Music and have been teaching for 8 years. I have experience with many styles and genres and have been fortunate to play with artists from over 20 countries. My work has been featured in NPR’s Jazz Critic’s Poll, Jazziz Magazine, and All About Jazz, and I was recently chosen to be a cultural ambassador for the U.S. State Department’s global music fellowship (OneBeat). A little bit about my piano methods: For beginner piano students, I start with exploring the "anatomy" of the keyboard so we can delve right away into learning simple arrangements of your favorite songs. Pick any song you like, and I'll work with you to learn it by ear! Over time, I will teach you more technical exercises, scales, and ways to start reading music. I can also be an ally for intermediate students who wish to delve into learning harder pieces by ear or by ...

About Hannah
I hold a degree in Jazz Studies from the Jacobs School of Music, where I focused especially on Afro-Cuban music, thanks to the tutelage of Latin Jazz giants Michael Spiro and Wayne Wallace! My jazz background also gave me rigorous training in music theory and history.

My performance career is highly diverse! You like folk? I’ve played with Chicago’s beloved Al Scorch and Della Mae’s guitar star, Courtney Hartman. You like hip-hop? I play and record with artists at Classick Studios, where Chance The Rapper, SZA, and No Name make albums. Indie rock? Part of what got me into bass was underground/DIY scenes—I love playing a good basement show! How about jazz? I’ve done everything from standards gigs at hotels to composing for experimental groups like The Liberation Music Collective.

I’ve also had the pleasure to play with musicians from ov
er 20 countries. One of the most rewarding experiences of my life was being a Fellow for OneBeat, a program run through the U.S. State Department that brings together international musicians to compose, record, and tour together. I have learned so much about the power of music through my relationships with artists from all corners of the globe.

I believe in “Occam’s Razor” bass playing – finding a simple, elegant solution to the “problem” at hand, whether that “problem” is finding a good fingering for a fast-moving melody, finding a tasteful yet interesting bassline for a funk groove, or improving your right-hand speed so you can finally play that one Tool song you’ve always loved. The “Occam’s Razor” approach builds your instincts and helps you become a solid, expressive bassist that everyone wants to play with!

No matter where you are in your musical development, I can be your ally. I have experience teaching all ages and experience levels and can help you go deeper in whatever music lights you up. I can offer advice about musicianship too – how to start a band, how to rock an audition for your school’s jazz ensemble, or how to make the most of a recording session.

Bass is a physically demanding instrument, and over my career I have recovered from multiple injuries. I am committed to helping you develop healthy technique that prevents and manages injuries and adapts to your physical conditions. I try to offer compassion AND solutions to students who struggle physically with their instrument or face health challenges. I’ve been there too, and I’m here to help.

One of the most important things for me will be garnering the students interest in Piano. I will not make a student play step by step, level by level piano books with cheesy melodies. This is the reason I lost interest in the piano and quit in 7th grade and didn't pick it up again till I was 18. The most important thing when teaching a student is fostering their interest. If the student is completely disinterested he will not pay attention and will not practice. And if the student does not pay attention and practice, he/she will not learn much. Figuring out what type of music my student likes to play and listen to will be my first task. After that it is simply a matter of teaching student pieces of increasing difficulty level. I have a thorough understanding of music theory and composition and if the student is interested I will teach that as well.

About Richard
Hello my name is Richard Schroff and I am new to teaching piano (at least officially, for money). With me the emphasis will be on making things fun and enjoyable. Doing what you want to do, playing what you want to play and not forcing anything on you that you really don't like. A lot of teachers don't seem to realize that the most important thing you can to do to teach your student is to make things interesting. If the interest isn't there then the student won't pay attention, won't want to practice and won't learn much. My first task will be identifying what types of music you like to listen to and play. Once we identify this you can start learning the piano by focusing on the types of music you enjoy playing. I will also teach you music theory and composition if you are interested, as I have a thorough understanding of both. As for my
piano/music background I started playing piano when I was very young, about 8 or so and continued playing until 7th grade when I quit for a while. I quit playing because of the way I was taught by using level by level books with cheesy melodies that I was uninterested in. I started playing the piano again when I was 18 and was inspired by a Beethoven song. I quickly became obsessed with the piano finding out that I clearly have a natural talent for the piano that I never knew I had before. I soon became very skilled and a rather advanced pianist and would play composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff. At the level of skill I am at now I can easily play any Mozart or Beethoven sonata right away and can play virtually any piece at least at a reasonable speed. I have taken several Music Theory classes in college but have studied it more completely on my own and have composed a small amount of piano pieces. I feel I am good enough to teach some fairly advanced students, but because I am new to teaching the piano I would prefer you to be a beginner or intermediate level student. Thank You.
