Andrew is a fantastic teacher! He puts in hard work and creates a fun environment to learn
May 23, 2019
We have had a great experience with Andrew teaching our daughter piano. He works great with kids and has a wide range of teachable skills. He organizes fun events for his students that showcase their hard work. I am really pleased with our decision to enroll our daughter in his program, she has a lot of fun and has learned a lot in a short amount of time.
May 21, 2019
I can't choose a subject because Andrew teaches so many different things in his piano lessons that I would be doing him a disservice if I chose just one.
As a former piano lessons taker myself, I must admit that I had some lofty expectations for my daughter's piano lessons. On the first day of lessons for her, I knew that we were in great hands. Andrew has exceeded my expectations with every turn. And a fun and lighthearted way, and through games, activities, and fingers on the piano , Andrew helps the young learner learn the most important thing about music: it's fun! Theory is fun, composition is fun, ear training is fun, performance is fun. As a musician myself, I'd almost forgot. Andrew has helped me to remember, and is instilling these values in my daughter.
I have been professionally singing and taking voice lessons since the age of 9! I went through various styles in my love and performance of music, starting with the Beatles, Aretha Franklin and all of Motown, Jazz (Ella Fitzgerald), R&B, and Classical/Opera (starting when I was in high school and attending Interlochen Arts Camp)...
Having received a Bachelor's of Music in Voice (Music Theatre Performance) from NYU, I stayed in NYC after graduation performing in musical theatre and theatre.
In 2009, I decided to apply to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, with the intent to broaden my range of skill and opportunity as a performer, but also with the intention to teach, with the higher degree strengthening this possibility. I began to teach voice lessons to fellow students while at LAMDA. When I returned to NYC, I began to
build my own voice studio in of post-graduate students and adults looking to further develop their vocal practice or begin a vocal practice. I found that in my vocal lessons, I was using physical exercises as for the actor, to incorporate in my private teaching method. I believe in doing, not only watching and observing. This, in conjunction with movement and full-body execution, opens the student vocally and emotionally. I chose to go to LAMDA because the classical training and approach to theatre training in England is extremely physical. They work from the outside in, and I find that the language of the body is universal to students of any intellectual capacity, and I strive to bring this into my approach in any type of teaching format!
*** Lesson Details *** I teach voice lessons to adults and young students who are beginning their vocal training practice, as well as those who are accomplished singers and performers and want to take their singing and performance to the next level! I use my skills as an accomplished vocalist and teacher to empower my students to find their own voice and learn to express a story through song. I enable my students to hone their craft and find their own style of expression through the exploration of music in a multitude of genres and cultures.
*** Studio Equipment *** I have a Stuyvesant style piano in my home studio. I also have a vast collection of repertoire.
*** Specialties *** Singing for Music Theatre / Broadway Singing Pop/Rock/R&B Singing Jazz Singing Original Material (Singer/Songwriter) Acting: Audition Coaching / Performance Speech & Dialects
I have only been working with Liza for 3 months, and in those three months I have grown so much. My acting comes out in my songs, and I feel ready for all the auditions I have coming up. She really digs into what character I’m trying to portray. Our lessons are always a safe environment and she is always very supportive and encouraging. Overall, Liza has not only helped me ready for my auditions but she’s taught me to have when I perform.

She was the best instructor ever! I already had an experience as a vocal in a band, but through her voice training I actually was able to extend my voice range. Also as a non-native English speaker, I found it very helpful when she guided me with more accurate English pronunciation of the lyrics.

Liza is a wonderful voice teacher! She is always open to exploring her students' interests and is very encouraging. She is incredibly enthusiastic and is an absolute sweetheart. I would definitely recommend working with her!

My daughter started a series of lessons with Kristen in preparation of her high school play audition. It was very clear that Kristen is extremely knowledgeable of all technical aspects of singing & able to clearly communicate. My daughter really enjoyed her initial lesson w/ Kristen & is confident that she will be well prepared for her school’s play auditions.

I’m so glad that I found Kristin. She provided a ton of info for my first lesson, and I’m looking forward to continue learning from her.

Super fun experience with these lessons! Every lesson is comfortable and i’m Seeing positive changes in my voice
I'm a film composer by trade, but I love teaching as well. I love sharing my passion for music with others. I have a BM from Appalachian State University in piano performance and music theory/composition. I also have an MFA in music composition for the screen from Columbia College Chicago. I studied abroad in Ireland for a summer and learned traditional Irish music. I've been playing piano and composing since I was a young child, and picked up folk instruments along the way. Folk music has been a constant source of joy in my life, and I am continually learning more about it. Music is what gets me out of bed in the morning!
Outstanding first lesson, great instructor! Looking forward to weekly lessons.

Connor is an excellent teacher. I worked with her via Skype for over a year. I played accordion as a child and wanted to get back into it as an adult. She helped me build my confidence and my proficiency around playing the accordion. She went through a lesson book that I purchased on my own previously. She arranged music for me so I could play more contemporary songs that my 3yo daughter would recognize. She worked with my schedule. She has a lovely personality. She is very encouraging. She is amazingly talented in music. And I couldn't recommend a better teacher. I wish you all the best, Connor! Thank you for everything!
About My Studio Every person is different, from the way they look on the outside to the way they are constructed on the inside. Because of this, I have learned to be flexible when teaching students, knowing that what works for one student may not work for another. My goal in every voice lesson is to help you become a better you, whatever way fits YOU best. I enjoy many kind of musical styles, but I believe that having good technique is essential to singing in any style of music. In my audition and performance coaching sessions, I focus on more specific topics. I can help you prepare for a specific performance or audition, including finding and labeling sheet music, picking appropriate pieces and cuts, and working on your performance of selected pieces.
About Me I received a Bachelors of Music at the University of Mobile in 2017, wh
ere I studied Musical Theatre with emphasis in Vocal Performance. During that time I toured for one year with the group Voices of Mobile under the direction of Dr. Roger Breland, arranged and led music for other ensembles in the department, and performed in several productions. After graduating I have spent my time as a performer at both Universal Studios and Walt Disney World while singing as a volunteer vocal arranger with my church at the time, First Baptist Church of Windermere, FL. Since then, my husband and I have moved to the northern Alabama area to open up our schedule for new adventures.
Hello and welcome. My name is Gigi. I have been teaching dance, dance fitness, and meditation for 30 years. I love the personal relationship with each student as together we bring forth skill, style, self confidence, expression, well being, and peace. My primary dance training was received from the Mid Hudson Ballet Company, with teaching certification from Music in Motion, Inc. My meditation training is rooted in 7 years of monastic life and 30 years of integrating the principles and practices into my being. I am a very compassionate, friendly, intuitive person who teaches with warmth, sensitivity, patience, and attention to detail. I look forward to bringing all of the above into sessions with you to help fulfill your personal goals and interests.
My relationship with dance began at the age of 3, when my mother enrolled me in my fir
st ballet class with the hope that it would help me gain the confidence to come out from my hiding place behind her back. Not only did it encourage me to overcome my excessively painful shyness, but it grew an everlasting love and shelter for me. I went on to receive the foundation of my training at Estelle & Alfonso Performing Arts and the Russian Ballet School of the Mid-Hudson Ballet Company. During my adolescent years, I became a teacher at the school and a performing member of the company. I also received the honor of performing in Harlequinade with the New York City Ballet, studying at the Craft of Choreography Conference on scholarship, and attending a variety of ballet, jazz, and modern dance classes by notable teachers in multiple schools and venues in the northeast.
In my adult years, I've enjoyed performing on many occasions, especially as a guest artist with Dog-Eared Dancers and in choreographic partnership with Anna Mayta of Anna Mayta Dance Fusion. I'm grateful to have expanded my modern dance and teaching experience with Laurie Sepe Marder, and to have studied Kuchipudi Classical Indian Dance with Kantham Chatlapalli, as well as ancient and modern Hula with Kumu June Tanoue. Under the mentorship of Barbara Thuesen, I received my certification in ballet teaching and choreography from Music in Motion, Inc. I was then accepted into the dance department at the West Australia Academy of Performing Arts, but chose to remain close to home and open White Lotus Ballet in 2004 instead.
Since then, I have had the ongoing pleasure of teaching dance to dozens of children and adults in my space, as well as at preschools, daycare centers, yoga studios, and special events. My teaching style and content continue to evolve with the gathering of insight, compassion, and experience.
In addition to traditional dance, that evolution has also expanded to include teaching meditation and healing dance. I am a very devotional soul and a natural intuitive empathic healer. So, i find all the gifts, talents, inspiration, and wisdom I receive come together in a variety of forms and ways I teach to touch the heart and desired interest of each student. Again, I look forward to creating lessons that fulfill you in that way.
I took dance lessons from Gigi with a focus on self expression and working through issues that I was holding onto on any particular day. I am 60+ years old and never danced before. Where my typical perspective of myself standing in front of a mirror is not positive, I somehow was transformed into seeing beauty. Gigi is a beautiful person, very patient , non judging. Her goal was for me to meet my goal, even when it changed from week to week. Sometimes we worked on dance technique, other times using movement to work through feelings. I loved it.

Working with Gigi during a challenging time in my life was an amazing experience, her empathy, her nurturing quality made my experience truly lovely. She finds inspiration for movement therapeutic work by what the students needs are. After my classes with Gigi I feel spiritually rejuvenated.
I started learning Flamenco guitar as a teenager, and this allowed me to experience what is necessary for a young mind to learn and grow in this beautiful art form. Its sounds and techniques captivated me and it is that very beauty what will surely keep you learning, regardless of your musical goals or ventures. Flamenco has a charm that is both exotic and sophisticated, and this is what I want to share with you. It is my desire to continue the Flamenco passion and life that allowed me to enjoy entertaining audiences as well as the perhaps more valuable moments of sharing joy with friends and family.
I have been a professional Writing Consultant, Editor, and professor for over ten years. My training in writing consulting began at Oberlin College, where I worked in my first university writing center and studied teaching and tutoring across the disciplines. I then went on to apply my training in teaching writing across the disciplines through my teaching in the disciplines of history, religious studies, political science, and university writing programs. I have a Ph.D. in International Studies from the University of Denver. I am also a writer of historical fiction (my blog is available at historicalfictionfornow.wordpress.com). Finally, I also bring professional theatre experience to the table, with a focus on Shakespeare.
Writing students can expect to learn practical strategies and tools to help them become stronger writers. Throug
h lessons, students will learn not only the tools that will help them develop strong language, reasoning, and organization skills, but they will also learn to trust their own writer's voice. Good writing is about craft, persistence, attention to each stage of the process, and being authentic to one's own ideas.
Shakeaspearean theatre/acting students can expect to work on deep analysis of Shakespeare's texts. By starting with the language itself-- both the words, as well as their rhythm and structure--students will learn techniques that will help them delve deeply into character work and the historical context, while also finding ways to deliver their lines naturally.
I enjoy working with students of all ages, starting with high school students and moving through adults of all ages. Here are some examples of the types of writing and students I have worked with previously:
-High school students planning their college essays or preparing for the SAT or ACT (I was previously an SAT exam rater); -High school and college students seeking support to become stronger writers in their academic classes; -Adults in career transitions: I've helped with job searches, focusing on cover letters and resumes, graduate school applications, and writing assignments in graduate classes as students who have been in the workforce for a long time get re-acquainted with academic work; -Graduate students working on their dissertations, from the earlier phases of their literature reviews to the final revisions before they finish their degrees; -Creative writing coaching and mentoring for high school students seeking individual support
Of the different instructors I have collaborated with, Sarah is by far one of the instructors who has most consciously worked to make sure that her course design met the goals and learning outcomes of the curricula. From the first day I met her, she already had a syllabus design that met any suggestions I might make from my previous years' experience teaching courses in our program. I know she worked actively with others in the program in designing her materials, and she took all their comments to heart, building her syllabus around their recommendations for achieving learning outcomes.
In addition to creating assignments that clearly and usefully supported the goals of the program, Sarah incorporated the community contributions elements of the program, as well. She invited speakers from the campus community and the broader community. The students responded positively to all of these speakers, and they actively incorporated the ideas they learned from them in their work for the course.
The students' final presentations are the best indication of how successful Sarah's course was. The students were asked to use their academic research paper to create a policy paper or deliverable to a stakeholder of the students' choosing. The students created such fantastic presentations, that some of them could perhaps have been sent to the intended stakeholder--if we had the right contacts--with only minor revisions. The final presentations indicated that they achieved the learning outcomes of the course.

Sarah was very patient and gave constructive advice during our lessons. She also does her research regarding the topic or subject you are writing on before the lesson.

Thanks to Sarah's help with my high school daughter's writing, my daughter achieved major milestones in her work as a creative writer. Sarah helped my daughter learn how to write in genres she never had before (poetry, short stories, and drama) and to have more confidence in her ability as a writer and a person. Also, whenever I wrote Sarah with questions about her sessions with my daughter, she always took time to write thoughtful responses that showed how much she cared about my daughter's growth.

While becoming an actor may seem extremely difficult in and of itself, without any experience it may even feel nearly impossible. However, what we often fail to realize is that the process alone of becoming an actor is filled with lessons that add to our overall experience and skill set. In fact, there's actually no such t …
