I began learning the 5-string banjo at the age of 8, which makes 13 years total of experience. I play a variety of genres including bluegrass, rock, blues, etc., all on the banjo. Although I teach the 5-string Scruggs style banjo, I use my advanced music knowledge to mix the banjo into any genre you could imagine. I studied at an arts school for 4 years and even played banjo in multiple broadway style shows. My goal is to make you a better musician overall while making you a better banjo player.

About Jesse

I am a professional musician, with experience in many settings. I started playing guitar at the age of 5, banjo at the age of 8, and trombone at the age of 12. I went to a music school for 4 years and played trombone in an orchestra setting, guitar in a jazz setting, and even banjo in broadway styl

A beginner student will explore the entire keyboard, starting with the black keys on the piano, and then move on to the white keys, learning their lettered names. Students with some prior knowledge and piano experience will show me what they know and can do, and then we will build upon that each week to achieve a higher level of learning. Students who want to learn improvisation will start with some simple "add-ons" or styling to create a different sound for their piece. l always ensure that the student is learning basic knowledge needed to play the piano. But I also like to cater to their genre preference if at all possible. After all...playing a piece that you REALLY like makes learning so much fun!!

About Monica

I have played the piano since I was five years old. That's nearly 55 years! Even though I can play by ear, I was taught to read and interpret written music. I began teaching piano while in college in 1980, and at one time had as many as 30 students a week. That number tapered off some, especiall

Monica is the best piano teacher my son ever had. She's energetic, but yet patient, explains things that anybody can understand and follow, just a great person all around. If she wouldn't have had the sweet (non- hypoallergenic) cat, my son (who is highly allergic to cats) would've loved to continue with her.

Laura is amazing. We're so fortunate to have come across her here. She's talented, patient, and encouraging of my daughter's singing. She has a gift for bringing out the best in her and challenging her to sing beyond what she knew she was capable of.

Improve ability to memorize music, write/produce one's own material, learn new material quick. Ear training will get you seeing a scale and melody in no time by forcing you to distinguish all the possibilities a note can lead to next. What does it actually sound like? vs. where do I write it? or where do I put my finger to play it?

Hi, my name is Aidan. I'm a composer, performer, guitar instructor and band leader. I teach at my apartment in City Park or can drive to the student within the Denver area. I am a Hampshire College music program graduate who has taught students of various ages, skills, and music preferences. I

Aidan is a terrific teacher!! I played professionally over 35 years ago and have not played at all since. At this point I could not play ANYTHING. He took me back through the basics and got me thinking the way I did when I was in my teens. Clearly he has the technical aspect of both music and teaching down - but what made him a great teacher to me is his love of music and guitar. Reminded me of why I loved it in the first place. Although we didn't match up on style perfectly - he embraced the music that I loved and got me back up and running - could not give him a higher recommendation!!

How to Improvise on Piano and Keyboard | Exercises to Try

Forgo the sheet music and try your hand at improvising! Get started with this exercise from Tucker, GA teacher Linda L...   Improvising, in music, is making up your own music on the spot. It is truly “playing with” music, in the more common sense of the word “play.” It’s fun, creative, and, well, playful. When it comes to piano improvisation, I tend to think of jazz, blues, and rock. But one can definitely improvise in any musical style. There is a lot you can learn wh …
