About Harry
I have been teaching piano, music, movement and dramatic arts in the Northern Virginia area since 1993. Besides teaching lessons in students homes, I've taught in studios, public and private schools, camps and afterschool programs.

I teach all ages, but most of my Beginner students are between the ages of 7 and 12. I really enjoy working with this age group-- they are alot of fun and it' great to see how quickly they learn things!

Some of my students started with me as Beginners and are now teenagers, playing at the Intermediate Level. Besides playing more complex pieces, they also play popular songs they know and like. Music from the TV show "Glee" is a big favorite!

Some of my favorite composers are Anton Dvorak, JS Bach, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Scott Joplin, and Cole Porter. Some of my favorite musicians and bands are The Be
atles, U2, Paul Simon, Tori Amos, Alicia Keys, Coldplay, and B-52's.

*** Lesson Details ***
For beginners, I generally use the Bastien Beginner series starting at the Primer Level and going through to Level Four. Depending on the student, going through the beginner level can take anywhere from four to six years. I use a lesson book, supplemental song book which features concepts learned, and a Theory book for written homework. Within 3-6 months, starting at the Primer Level, student will be reading notes on the musical staff and playing short pieces with both hand together.

Intermediate level students work on repetoire pieces from classical, ragtime, modern, jazz and popular music.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students need to have a piano or keyboard in their home

I am thoroughly background checked every year and work with local after school programs in the area.

About Milena
My musical career started in my hometown of Belgrade, Serbia, and has lead me on a journey all around the world. After obtaining a Bachelor’s of Music degree from University of Belgrade in 2008, I received The Catherine Royce Alderson Memorial scholarship for an Artist Diploma program at the prestigious Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Immediately after, in 2010 I became a recipient of The John Paul Music Scholarship for the Master of Music program at The Catholic University of America, in Washington DC, graduating in May of 2013.
Throughout my music career, I have been an active member of numerous orchestras. Starting with the University of Belgrade’s Symphony Orchestra when she performed at Belgrade’s “Kolarcev Narodni Univerzitet” Hall and Sava Centar, Royal Conservatory Orchestra when I performed in
Toronto Centre for the Arts and Koerner Hall, to CUA Symphony Orchestra which brought me to Carnegie Hall.
In 2006, I toured the prestigious concert halls in Holland, Belgium, and Luxembourg, such as Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the National Youth Orchestra of Holland. In 2007, I was accepted into Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra (JMWO), and has since been both second violin principal and section violinist. With JMWO, now called The World Orchestra (TWO) I toured across Spain, Holland, Germany, Canada, China, Mexico, and South Africa and performed gala concerts at The Berlin Philharmonie, The Concert Hall of National Grand Theatre Beijing, Palau de les Arts in Valencia, and Auditorio National de Musica in Madrid.
Besides teaching in my private studio, I also actively play with several premier ensembles as both principal and section violinist in the Washington DC and Baltimore area. These ensembles include American Festival Pops Orchestra, Washington Concert Opera, and National Philharmonic in Washington DC, Mid-Atlantic Symphony in Baltimore and Eastern Shore, and Maryland Symphony, as well as many others.

I am a novice guitar player and took lessons from Matt for 10 weeks to try to take my playing up a notch. Matt's teaching style is excellent and was driven by what I wanted. He didn't try to force any particular curriculum but built the lessons around what I wanted to learn. He taught me techniques to learn songs I wanted to play and even mixed in some music theory. I had asked to learn a little theory and Matt made it really interesting. I highly recommend Matt as a guitar instructor!

About Melissa
I began playing violin in elementary school, and immediately knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. My first words as a baby were lyrics because I sang before I spoke. I played violin until 11th grade when I fell in love with the sound of the viola.
I studied music performance and music education in college and I have a bachelors degree in both. I have played professionally in orchestras, quartets, as a soloist, and in many rock and folk settings. I have even put my violin and viola through a distortion pedal and a wah wah pedal in heavy metal/punk music. I have over 17 years of teaching experience and am a licensed teacher in the state of virginia. I have taught in a classroom as well as privately, and have also taught students with autism.
As a student of mine you can expect to improve your playing skills week
to week. I can teach from the very first lesson on. Students will learn techniques to improve their playing and will play fun music. If you are interested in learning improvisation, I can help with that, too. I enjoy teaching violin, viola and cello.
I am most passionate about teaching students to become independent, critical thinking musicians who will be able to rely on their own knowledge to learn new music as they go along. I stress music reading, ear training, and strong fundamentals in playing. I am very encouraging, love spreading my love of music.
Just a quick note: I do like to do my business through this website. If you send me an email trying to get me to personally write to your email, I will not respond.

About Kevin Peter
Kevin started his musical journey at the age of 8 and has not yet stopped. He began his study on a traditional drum kit and branched out to orchestral percussion from his participation in school orchestra and marching band.

He plays and teaches everything from rock, jazz, and pop to orchestral instruments, like the timpani and hand percussion. It's safe to say that music is Kevin's life, and he feels blessed to be able to inspire the love of music with his students.

High school was the first step towards Kevin becoming a professional musician, as he was fortunate enough to attend Elk Grove High School in Chicago, which had an award-winning marching band and orchestra. He was a top All-State soloist during this time and decided to continue his study of music in college.

Kevin attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music and Georget
own University (amongst others) to further his musical education in the realm of jazz and orchestral percussion. He gained exposure to many different styles and had an active performance and recording career alongside his studies.
