Currently my studio has young beginners, teens and young adults who are entering their professional career stage with new recordings, videos and many performance opportunities. We have upcoming shows at professional venues for our young artists as well as nursing homes and churches for less experienced performers. Shows include all genres and styles: voice, piano guitar and ensembles - and the studio has a lot of collaboration between people - doing back up vocals, co-writing songs, duets trios and more.

Piano - Classical, Jazz, Blues and Improvisation. Current students are beginners to professional musicians and music teachers.

Voice – I am an accomplished vocal coach and songwriter and currently work with a wide variety of singers from young beginners to professionals who look to develop through ear training, singing and songwriting. In a unique way I guide people to become better performers and musicians through the combination of voice, piano and composition.

I work with students as young as 3 or 4 and into their 80’s. It’s important to begin with an excellent teacher from the start to set a good foundation and to have the ability to develop as quickly and thoroughly as possible. I enjoy working with beginners as well as accomplished musicians. I also believe that music is one of the great joys of life and that lessons should be FUN!

Besides a wide variety of performance opportunities through my Family to Family Concerts, I also offer my students the curriculum and exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, a gold standard music curriculum.. The ABRSM is accredited in over 100 countries worldwide and exams are offered twice per year in all instruments and voice.

I am a Florida native, active doctoral student, teacher and practitioner. My career includes performing and recording as a guitarist and teaching subjects such as music or math. Grade-school academic strengths in mathematics represent my enthusiasm for the subject. The math equivalent in music can be considered music theory, which is another passion of mine. I hope to take these well-rounded characteristics to teach and influence others with what I have learned in my education and career thus far.

Education & Teaching Experience:

I am currently pursuing my Doctorate of Musical Arts from Shenandoah University and hold a Masters of Music from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Music from Stetson University (all degrees with a guitar performance emphasis). I also have a temporary teaching certificate for Music K-12 fro
m the Florida Department of Education. I have taught in Florida as a preferred substitute for general music classes, K-12. In college, I have given study sessions for music theory levels ranging from 4-part writing to post-serialism.

Hi, I'm Glenn. Thank you for viewing my profile. I've been teaching students for over 20 years, playing all styles and levels of music, from day-one beginners to seasoned pros seeking to sharpen their playing skills. I teach both traditional notation and tablature, writing my own teaching methods in both formats. I can transcribe any song or solo for you, and can arrange the music to fit your particular level of skill.

I earned a B.A. in Music Composition and an A.A. in music theory, and have worked as a professional musician since graduation. I play in a variety of bands that cover rock, jazz, surf, oldies, and country, and also write and arrange music for those bands as well as writing my own music that can be heard on my own YouTube channel.

Glenn is very patient and has a great sense of humor. Even though I only had a 30 minute beginner class with him, he gave me plenty direction and encouragement to start. With his lesson plan, practice exercises and his guidance, I feel confident that I have the tools to master my instrument.

My musical theater career has taken me around the globe from Japan, to the Caribbean as well as numerous cities in the U.S. and Europe! A New York City native, I graduated James Madison University's renowned vocal music program, and began work in theatre, playing such roles as Z.’s Favorite in The national tour of “The Will Roger’s Follies, Sandy in “Grease,” and Velma Von Tussle in “Hairspray” regionally, to name a few. I then went on to tour the world with a cabaret show opening for legends such as Nell Carter and Neil Sedaka, and it has been a fantastic journey so far!

As an actor I also have a strong background in improv comedy, having studied at "The Groundlings," and "The Second City." I then performed professionally with an improv ensemble in NYC called "The Grownups Playground" and can teach a myriad of improv comedy games, selected from my vast experience and cater the games to the students abilities. I believe developing your gifts should be fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
My personality is definitely laid back creating a fun atmosphere for lessons. That said, I believe the real fun begins when we cultivate our talents and get opportunities to sing our hearts out!

Lessons usually begin with loosening everything up, as relaxation is imperative to avoiding strain on the voice. Getting loose can be fun and a chance to act silly! Next we move onto learning proper breathing techniques, and practicing exercises that will develop the muscles necessary to produce the most sound while protecting the voice from damage. From there we study ways to warm up the vocal chords. The voice is a muscle and I have found the expression, "Use it or you lose it!" to hold true. Therefore, warming up is just as important as warming up your legs to run track!

The rest of our lesson I like to focus on music selections. We usually watch examples of artists performing the student's choice of music, and then begin either learning the song, or improving a song already learned. Down the road, when songs are performance ready, we will learn proper microphone technique, and try out our songs on mic! Get ready to belt it out!

For acting lessons, I always begin with a few improv warm-ups, and from there move on to the student's choice of monolgue, scene-study or my favorite more improv comedy games!

Lastly, I believe strongly in positivity and creating a comfortable environment for lessons. Sometimes life wears us down, so c'mon in for an uplifting inspiring, encouraging lesson. At age 12 Ken picked up a guitar and fell in love with the instrument. He began with an obsession with Metallica and related bands that later evolved to a passion for classical and jazz music, music theory.

From 2008 -2010 completed the music program at Diablo Valley College in June of 2010, which includes extensive coursework in Music theory, Piano and Guitar. Since 2011 Ken has been a Jazz Guitar Performance Major at Cal State East Bay. There he has studied Classical and jazz Guitar performance with world class musicians.

"Music has many different levels and the beautiful thing is there is a place for everybody. I have spent a lot of time throughout my music career going “back to basics” in order to become a better musician. We are all capable of becoming great musicians and just because someone can play faster than you doesn't n
ecessarily make them better. Music provides everything from healing power to just plain fun for the human spirit so I always encourage students to go at there own pace and work within their abilities."

20+ years experience as a musician and teacher Ken has taken self taught route and the lessons route. "I believe 100% that being taught by someone who has sufficient experience really provides the roadway for a solid foundation whether you are planning on being a pro, just for fun and all levels in between. The combination of self-discipline and a good teacher are a must to have as a musician."

Amongst many other approaches of teaching music, I try to instill the 3 most lacking areas most musicians usually have to begin.

1. Sight reading: Unfortunately most common with guitarists! Tablature is a somewhat useful way to start but reading music will open many doors and opportunities for any musician

2. Collaboration: A teacher provides one way of collaboration as well as a band or an ensemble at school or in the community.

3. Improvisation: I provide a music theory background and I have a method plan for chord progressions, and help with learning the entire guitar.

I take step-by-step approaches towards giving a student encouragement and instilling music appreciation. I am very organized so every lesson will be documented and we will work on specific areas of fundamental development. Most of all have fun! That what gets us playing music in the first place!

Ken is an awesome teacher and an great person. He teaches my 5 year daughter and she loves his lessons and his jovial approach. Within 4 weeks, she has picked up a lot of things and is improving day by day. He is patient as you ought to be with the kids and yet persistent enough to stick to the task.

I am really looking forward to them picking up songs in the coming lessons. I will recommend him anytime and completely vouch for his credentials and ability as an excellent guitarist as well as teacher.

A native of Charlotte, NC, Zachary began his musical career as a tuba player and jazz bass guitarist. While attending The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Zachary began singing in various vocal groups on campus and developed his love for the singing voice. With encouragement from the music faculty, Zachary began training as an operatic baritone while at UNC. While attending UNC, Zachary was awarded both the Fischer Scholarship in Voice and the Tony McDowell Voice Scholarship. His singing brought him to Boston in the summer of 2010 to begin study at The Boston Conservatory. While performing various opera roles and attending summer programs, Zachary also opened his private studio and taught at a local music academy.

Baritone Zachary B. is quickly establishing himself as an active operatic performer. Equally at home on the recital stage, his versatile lyric baritone voice fits a wide range of repertoire and styles. A graduate of The Boston Conservatory, Zachary has performed roles like the titular role in Don Giovanni, Ramiro in L'Heure Espagnole, L'horloge comtoise in L'Enfant et les sortileges, Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, and Bob in The Old Maid and the Thief.

Starting in February 2013, Zachary will also be available through TakeLessons for online instruction. Lessons will still focus on energy, breath, and solid technique, so please contact him if you think this venue of instruction will be a good fit!

This means that my work with you will, by nature, be incredibly personal and always formulated for your specific musical goals. I believe every singing or speaking voice can benefit from a foundation in classical vocal technique. Whether you prefer to learn through singing songs or through various exercises, I can customize our lesson plan to fit your needs. We will start with something you already know (an aria, vocal exercise, or excerpt from a song) and work toward singing in your preferred vocal style. Along the way, I am happy to address basic music theory ideas. If you prefer, we can also spend additional time reviewing and learning those principles to enrich your musical experience. I will always provide different exercises and ideas to keep your brain active in the singing process.

I believe in whole body, whole spirit singing. As a performer, I employ a variety of holistic exercises and theories to develop my own voice, such as basic Alexander Technique principles, voice therapy techniques, a variety of pedagogical palates, and energy work. If these sorts of things interest you, I am more than happy to incorporate them into our lessons. My personal results with those practices have been incredible, so I am always eager to share.

My personality is outgoing and energetic, so I bring that sort of atmosphere to a lesson. I expect preparedness and readiness on your part to maximize our work together. Michael is patient and very understanding. He takes his time and my time seriously and does not waste any od it. He is prepared and ready to further my ability from zero to reading sheet music in just 4 lessons. The lessons are geared to my level.

Hello! I am a saxophonist, jazz musician, woodwind player, and music educator. I have a degree in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University, where I studied with Mulgrew Miller, Harold Mabern, Vincent Herring, Rich Perry, Bill Mobley, and many more of New York/New Jersey's finest musicians. I have experience playing professionally in jazz ensembles (as both a sideman and leader), pit orchestras, and wedding/cover bands.

My teaching career began informally while I was in high school, showing friends the basics of what I knew at the time on different instruments. I would also give some lessons to family friends, usually the younger siblings who were just starting out in 5th or 6th grade band. After I graduated from college in 2016, I began teaching professionally at various music studios throughout the North Jersey area, and thr
