Not everyone can play an instrument or sing "by ear", however, there is a process by which you can improve your ability to "hear" the nuances of music, from identifying intervals to identifying keys. This can be especially important when trying to emulate your favorite songs. This training is part of all my instrumental lessons, but can be taught as a separate skill.

I have been lucky enough to study ear training with many different private teachers and at Cal State University Northridge. I teach based on each students needs, and have the tools and the know how to create the perfect lesson plan just for you. I specialize in harmonization and jazz ear training, with emphasis on transcribing.
About Athan
Hello potential students! I have been teaching music for over eight years, and love teaching as much as music itself. As someone who started late (began drumming at age 16), and quickly progressed from complete (i.e. terrible) beginner to studying at nationally ranked CSU Northridge's jazz program,

Experienced voice teacher of over 20 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of technique including breathing and exercises designed to improve strength, power, and range while decreasing tension in the jaw, face, and throat. I specialize in teaching students to relax and to not sing from the throat and chest. For non-singers I can focus solely on ear training and pitch matching which is often necessary for auditions and performing on other instruments as well as voice.
About Laurelanne
I graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA with a BA in Music Education, voice principal. During my years in public schools I taught a variety of age ranges and subjects including kindergarten general music, beginning band, high school chorus, and remedial middle sch

The Semper Method uses games and exercises that develop Ear Training. The system is Listen, Sing, Clap, Play, Read & Write. You start with listening at a whole new level. The program goes at exactly your speed.
We have an entire program that will help you to refine and develop your ear, for singing, playing and listening.
An integrated approach:
Music almost always involves several skills. Below are some of the complementary skills that I can help you with.
In my Semper Method, we always address several of them at every session. For example, we record, sing and play all the time. To sing you should be able to pick out intervals at the piano, or better yet, accompany yourself and everyone needs some music theory. So it really is all one thing.

For Ear training I would use a combination of sight singing and listening/dictation exercises.
