We focus on playing and writing music immediately, the theory is second, music playing and having fun is first!

I'm 31 years old and I have been playing music in bands of all kinds since I was 15. I practiced 3 years before I actually played with anyone and once I did I learned so much more. I don't want you to make the same mistake, try out my 30 minute discount rate and we can make sure you are having fun and playing music in no time, if you want to expand into harder lessons then we can!

My prices are so I can give each student my undivided attention, even the 30 minute may go on longer if the student is hungry. At these prices I can support as many students that really want to learn as possible no matter what level lessons they buy. I recommend the hour as it will allow for most growth.

About Joshua

Guitar is the most amazing instrument to me. I got really lucky because someone gave me an electric when i was 12 and I just played it. I didn't even know they had to be tuned at first! Once I started playing with people I learned so much so fast. I also went to school for recording and am able

I have been taking lessons with Frank for several years and I think he is an excellent instructor. He has helped me have confidence in my abilities and is patient when I get frustrated. He has been able to teach me about music theory in such a way that it is understandable. I have been to some of his performances and he is a talented musician as well as instructor.

For most of my 15 years of playing music (since I was 8 years old) I was completely musically illiterate; no reading and no formal instruction on either the guitar or piano. Because of that, when I learned the intricate parts of music I connected everything to the sounds we hear and the energy that comes from them.

The way I teach reflects the way I learned; I focus on what you're interested in and what you love and help you learn to develop THAT. Does that mean you have to have strong fundamentals? Absolutely! But does that mean that you have to play the kind of music I like? Absolutely not. We're formed by what we love and what our ears hear. I'm dedicated to your needs. Technique is very important to me because it leads us to the best version of ourselves.

As a guitar/bass teacher I'm comfortable in most styles of contemporary electric guitar; rock, metal, jazz, funk, and everything in between. I'm a huge fan of groove-based music and it informs everything I do. You ...

I truly enjoy teaching. I've taught in the public school classroom for 11 years. Teaching music is so so much FUN! And it should be fun for the students to learn. When I'm teaching I tell all my students that if they don't enjoy and smile about something, then we need to change something.

Last year, I had the opportunity to study with Christian at CSU Northridge. Christian is one of the finest musicians I have come across in the years that I have been playing music. Not only does he have impressive skills with the guitar, he also has knowledge in the history of the guitar and music theory. When he was studying at CSUN, I was able to have some lessons with Christian on a baroque piece that was giving me trouble. First, I'd like to mention how patient he was with me when I was frustrated and lost in the music. Also, I was surprised at how much he knew about the music as he explained what was going on in the piece and why. Oh... did I mention that I had some AWESOME results after ONE lesson??? Do yourself the favor and check this guy out!

"Love for music

My 8yr old daughter takes guitar lessons with Josh in a classroom setting, and has been for about a year now. I looked around for a teacher for a while before finding Josh and have been very pleased with the class and the progress my daughter has made. Josh really has a love for music that transfers well into the classroom. He is very patient with the students and puts effort into connecting with each of his students. We are very blessed to have found him and are grateful for foundation he is giving my daughter in music."

"Hi. I left a prior review under acoustic guitar. Jeff teaches basically anything with strings and frets: Acoustic and Electric guitar and bass, in Rock, pop, Jazz, blues - you name it. Throw in Mandolin and Ukulele. I started playing guitar over 50 years ago - self taught with years of inactivity. When I retired 3 years ago or so my wife set me up for guitar lessons from Take Lessons, which led to Jeff. He was close by in Pasadena. He started with my flimsy knowledge of a few chords and moved along as I learned. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of all sorts of music, and can lead you down whatever path you chose. I started with basic rhythm guitar, classic rock, R & B, and at this point starting to work on the blues. I look forward to my weekly meetings with Jeff and highly recommend him."
