It is important to have teacher, student, and parents work together to see the accomplishments happen in the future. I make the lessons meaningful, so that my student can retain the information and practice effectively at home. My ultimate goal is to have my student think critically and listen carefully, so that they can become their own teacher.

About Richard

I started playing the violin when I was 12 years old. After practicing the violin productively, I was able to join the Jr. Philharmonic Orchestra of CA. I played with the group for 5 years. I also joined other community orchestras such as: Bellflower Symphony, Los Angeles Valley College Symphony, M

Enjoyment and engagement precede technical study— always!

Why are you drawn to this instrument, piece of music, or performance situation? We will study all of the things you’d expect: scales, exercises, études, and repertoire. But I like to think I add more value than the notes on the page. And learning to play an instrument is all about reflecting your joy of playing it to the world! Precision is necessary but first is passion. This is why we always begin with enjoyment and engagement.

I consider the whole person I am teaching. I like to approach playing any musical instrument with the whole mind and body. You’ll learn how to most naturally hold and play your instrument with as much ease as if you were simply walking down the street. Only with ease can we play these instruments for life!

I teach from the earliest beginner through adult. My violin students are currently performing for different schools and ensembles. When students are performing with orchestras, much time is spent working on that music as well as their regular music.

About Diane

I have a degree and certification in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have had additional training and certification as a Suzuki teacher from The Suzuki Teacher Training Institute. I am a member of SAGWA-Suzuki Associati

"AWESOME teacher

my daughter was a first time learner with the violin and was lucky enough to get Jessica at a local school she was teaching at. My daughter learned sooooooo much and sooooo quickly that we were devasted when we found out that she would be moving back to Baltimore... We loved her so much that we have her on a lesson by lesson basis when she is in town around our area :) She is reliable, affordable and made the lesson a blast for my 6 year old... you will be lucky to get her expertise :)"

"Susanna is such an incredible teacher! I learned violin in school (elementary through high school) and was always okay, but when picking it back up as an adult (24), I improved but struggled significantly with trying to rebuild the basics on my own and not so much learn tunes, but make them sound *good*. Susanna has taught me so many practical techniques to add to my practice to improve my overall sound quality and I'm a better sounding player and more content with the continued incremental improvement than I ever was before. Truly cannot say enough good things - a pleasure to work with!"
