I am a composer in addition to a violinist and have written transcriptions for orchestral works and composed pieces for different chamber group types, string and symphonic orchestra, and solo violin and piano. I've also written some electronic music as well. I love composing and I use my theory knowledge often when writing and analyzing music for my violin practice and use theory all the time in my practices. I've started learning music theory and ear training since I was very young, for 10+ years now I've been learning and using it. I try my best to find ways to make the theory fun and connect it to real music you are familiar with to keep it relevant and not simply a pursuit of knowledge. I've helped students who are just starting or who think they have no talent or way of understanding written music to students who are well versed and are looking to hone their skills and knowledge to advance further.
About Fedor
I'm a rising Junior at The Juilliard School. I started playing when five and a half. I attended the Juilliard Pre-College program for two last years of high school before attending Juilliard on the college level. In August of 2013, I became the youngest semi-finalist in the Schoenfeld International

I specialize in contemporary music theory and also have an intermediate knowledge of classical theory. Students will learn the basics such as roman numerals for chords, all the way to advanced concepts such as chord scales, modulation and chord substitution. Unless otherwise requested, all lessons will be taught using music notation.

Because Alison is also an inspiring role model herself, she constantly challenges me to become a better pianist. Throughout my years as her student, not only has my piano skills immensely progressed on a technical level; but I have also learned how to better interpret the repertoires of different styles, and conveying those emotions through my playing.

I consider myself a theorist sometimes more than a musician. The studies that I use are a combination of taking songwriting structures and breaking them down so that they make sense to anyone. I teach chord progressions as well as scales and sometimes go a bit off the deep end when I feel students are ready.
