About Dovile
I began teaching while studying in Art Institute. My first students were 5 to 7 yr. old kids. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding. I was teaching them skills, they were teaching me patience. Later the age of my students grew, until I ended up teaching the same students I was in the same classes just 6 months ago. Again another challenge. I love challenges and even more I love helping others to overcome them.
My philosophy about teaching is that everybody can learn, it is only the way how we learn is different for different people. Another very important thing - I strive to be creative, respectful and approachable.

I have been drawing since age 3, and competing artistically since age 6. My complete love and passion for art has helped me win many awards, and graduate with a fine arts degree with honors from the Academy of Art University. I would love to share all my experience with you! I believe anyone can learn to draw, and I can teach a wide variety, from surrealism to photo realism, including portraits! I have several years of teaching experience, and can teach any age bracket! Your lesson plan will be catered to your abilities and goals for the best experience.

About Amber
I am a professional freelance artist, and owner of Leola Studios. I have been doing custom artwork for over 15 years, and have several contract jobs with businesses on my resume. I have an Associates Degree in Fine Arts/Animation from Academy of Art University.

I specialize in photo realism, and 90% of the private commissions I get are portraits. However, I work in a broad range of styles and mediums, from line work to abstract to sketch, with charcoal to paint to clay. I love expanding my knowledge and trying new things, but above all I love creating!! I feel that imagination and expression through art/music/literature are crucial to a person's development, and this is something I pass on to my daughters, and frequently fundraise for, in an attempt to keep art programs in our schools.

I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledg
e, so after having so many people ask me to show them how to draw, I began teaching. I've taught one on one, and classes large in size. I have also taught young children, up to age 98! I am very patient and don't mind a slew of questions! I want to help students become the best at their craft.

Art is my passion and so important in our world, with proven benefits! I'd like to think with teaching, I'm helping to keep it alive, even if just in my small way.

Amber is very talented! I wanted to learn to draw people realistically and before I started learning from Amber, I did not use charcoal much. Amber specifically targets the lessons and will help you reach your goals. I feel much more comfortable with charcoal. It feels good to have a finished product by the end of the lesson and to be proud of your work. Amber is talented also in teaching and has a very kind personality. I look forward to our lessons.

Brittany was such a wonderful teacher! She taught my dad the basics and helped me focus on my more intermediate level. Her studio was awesome - she made us feel right at home. We finished one painting each in 3 hours - she helped us explore new techniques and explore our own style. Super encouraging. She was lovely spending time with - highly recommend!!!

As a mid-20s poet and musician trying to expand into visual art, I found confidence I didn't know I had by taking lessons in drawing and painting with Brittany. With an encouraging demeanor, she has taught me techniques that organically lead to the kind of art I have always wanted to make. After my lessons with Brit, I feel inspired and motivated to keep making art and confident enough to push myself to new levels. No matter if you're just starting out or working on a portfolio, I couldn't recommend her enough!

Want to discover hidden potential in your creative ability? Or perhaps understand the basics, or important fundamentals of crafting visual representations from life? My experience as self-taught and formal education as an artist has given me the privelage to pass down what my grandfather and professors has taught me. Now I would love to share and instruct a wide range of drawing and illustration techniques from simple still life to the complexity of the human body, as well as cartoons and anime. Shoot me a message if you want to get started!

About Miguel
I'm an illustrator and portrait artist with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts and Illustration, and a minor concentration in Art History. I am also the son of a retired military parent whom I had the privelage to live and travel in foreign countries including Japan and Italy. I have been exposed to various cultures and gained artistic inspiration from the best they had to offer from their respective art worlds, from Japanese pop culture to European sensibilities.

I currently work as a portrait artist at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Virginia. I am looking to possibly continue my education in the Humanities in a university and publish essays and art books. I am currently working on a fantasy/romance web comic to publish as well.

My expertise involves drawing, illustration, watercolor painting, and portrait drawing, as well as pastel. I can tea
ch students how to master the fundamentals, and help them understand the philosophy of art in the process. I am a big believer in the importance of creativity, be it therapeutic or recreational. Art will either give you a sense of purpose or help you see the world differently. As a professional working to integrate my passion of art and learning, I hope to bring joy into the learning process as much as I can instill wisdom and a new skill set for you to master!

Having been an art educator for over 9 years, my primary focus has always been to help students tap into their creativity while also working on their technique. Working with teens and adults presents interesting challenges. However, those "AH HA!" moments that students have after struggling with a concept or a process make it all worthwhile. I place a good amount of emphasis on sound technique: working from observation, simplifying complex forms into manageable shapes, shading, composition, etc. A solid grasp of technique frees one up to create unhindered.
Lessons all begin similarly with basic drawing exercises, as it is important for me to gauge a students' ability. But after a couple lessons I am able to cater the lessons into a more personalized structure to meet your needs. If your end goal is to be able to draw from a photo or work from life or get over a hump, I will give you the tools necessary to see the way an artist does. I am a no-nonsense instructor who doesn't ...

About Julian
Hello! I am a professional artist and educator. I have a BFA in illustration and an MFA in fine art painting, have exhibited nationally, and have been featured in various publications. My art tends towards narrative realism.

Having taught for over 9 years, my students can expect to progress methodically as they work towards their goal. I place an emphasis on solid observational foundations, as I feel that it is the bedrock of all good art. Whether it is drawing or painting, the process begins similarly, comfortably and logically becoming more challenging as students become adept at a given skill set. I simplify the process of interpreting a subject matter so that students can digest and grasp a concept.

Since the beginning I have consciously avoided teaching students my process. What matters more to me as an educator is that they learn
how to "see" something and break it down in a way that becomes their own. It all stems from the same repetition of exercises so that it becomes second nature, but I prefer a student understand what they are looking at instead of copying something. As I tell my students in class year after year, copying a photograph or life model is remarkably simple once you learn the process; interpreting it and making it your own is what makes a good artist.

I work with teens and adults primarily. Adults have typically come to me for specific goals: drawing grand kids, pets, landscapes, etc. Teens aged 12-18 are my specialty. It is with great pride that I can say past students of mine have gone to such schools as School of Visual Art, Pratt, Rhode Island School of Design, and Maryland Institute of Contemporary Art, just to name a few. That isn't to toot my own horn, but nurturing a sense of confidence in their ability to tackle both technical and conceptual projects has been my aim since I began teaching in 2009.

With all that said, I look forward to meeting you and working with you. If you are willing to put in the work, I will work with you to reach your goals.

I have strong technical skills and I am very good at breaking down what seems to be impossible into workable, easy to understand, easy to execute pieces that can be learned by anyone. I work with a strong emphasis on creativity and expression. If you do not like what you are creating and you are not passionate about it, then it is only natural to get artists block and to have a low esteem for your work. Art should impact the world through the perception of the artist and that is what I am here to teach.

About Charles
I went to the Art Center Design College in Tucson Arizona for a bachelors in graphic design but have been drawing from the time I was in diapers. I have gained recognition in competitions of varying sorts and levels starting in middle school all the way to college and beyond. I have published work from the time I was in middle school to just a couple of years ago. I have worked as a professional tattooist and graphic designer for 9 plus years. The most notable thing I think I could say is that I love what I do and I love to impart my technical and creative talents onto others.

Educated in Europe, I was always inspired by my teachers and travels to continue honing my artistic skills. With practice, anybody can develop their own style, and I believe it's my duty to pass on the knowledge that was instilled in me as a young artist.
Expression of one's soul in art may be sometimes stronger than words, something that psychologists have proven for years.

About Isabela
I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested student who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I be
lieve in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.
