I am a regularly performing musician who has memorized hundreds of songs and pieces, making it easy to train any student on the fly. Teaching lessons is NOT just learning notes on the page, it is playing music by ear, understating how music works, and understanding how the student learns.

I am an experienced teacher, active and accredited member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and have experience in a variety of settings from standard private lessons to university pre-college faculty positions to summer festivals and intensives. I welcome any and all levels of pianists with the end goal of providing quality music education across the board. Whether you are hoping to go into music professionally or not, I believe that any approach to the keyboard deserves the highest level of teaching on my part. This is why my lessons are not simply 30/45/60 minutes a week but an ongoing partnership where I offer guidance and support as you explore what it is that you want within the wide and wonderful field of music. Whether this entails a professional opinion on an instrument, a safe place to express yourself, or a starting point for your artistic digital portfolio, it is my belief that our community can and will help you achieve whatever it is you set out to do.

I've been playing piano and studying music for 19 years, have a B.A. in music composition, and have been teaching piano for about 3 years. Lessons with me will primarily focus on classical piano music and music theory. Together, we will choose piano pieces to learn that you enjoy so that practicing doesn't feel like a chore. I'm excited to jump into the world of music with you and help you grow into the musician you aspire to be.

Experienced musician with 3 years of teaching experience to a wide range of ages. I am encouraging with a focus on emotional release through music. I don't want to force someone to care about piano. I want to teach them how it can be used as a form of self expression, and how to make that beautiful. However, I am firm about the importance of practice.

Hello! My name is Alan, I'm a pianist and composer based out of Marco Island, FL with an emphasis in the Jazz idiom. Piano lessons with me are unique in the fact that I integrate into my classes a diverse skill set needed to become not just a great pianist, but also a well rounded musician. My music education (classical theory and performance), as well as 3 years experience working as a jazz pianist, have given me the knowledge and understanding of music necessary to help you achieve your musical ambitions.

In my classes you will learn about harmony (chord structures, tonality), work on technical exercises that develop coordination and dexterity on the piano, learn to read and notate music and study repertoire. I am confident that I can help you progress in your own personal musical journey, whether you are just beginning to play or already have a strong foundation in the fundamentals of music.
