Tara was wonderful when working with my boys. She was always on time, never cancelled and was always smiling. She was gentle and guided them through each project. I would highly recommend Tara to anyone who wanted a personal, quality lesson in art.

I’ve been teaching for a year and welcome students of all levels! My lessons are all about training your eye and mastering the foundational elements of art so you can draw anything from life our you imagine. I bring lots of practical techniques and old school methods introduced in a modern way that takes into account the interest of my students and keeps the learning fresh and fun.

At all of my lessons I introduce the works of an established modern or classical artist that either exemplifies the lesson of the day or is someone whose work or life story I think my student might find interesting. We don’t just learn how to draw or paint but also learn how to talk about art and make it more a part of your everyday life.

About David
I have a bachelors degree in printmaking and oil painting and spent some time in Florence, Italy studying painting and drawing through the high renaissance masters. Currently I draw and paint in my spare time. I love teaching art as a way to connect with other artist and creative people who like talking about and creating art.

Through introducing or reviewing the fundamental principles in art and applying those to the lessons and exercises I assign for after class hours, you’ll see yourself improve week after week and gain more confidence in your artistic ability. I create a custom syllabus for you to review and work in things you’d like to try, certain mediums or subject matter to make it more appealing to you.

Making art should be fun and restorative! There’s a reason all of Bob Ross’s trees and clouds were so happy! Often times my
students and I will have class in a park on a nice day or at museum.

The third lesson was pretty helpful. His approach towards drawing is different than what I am used to, but also very beneficial.

David did a good job breaking down how to draw a candle using the grid method. The concept he taught me is really easy to apply and helped me complete my first assignment. He is a good instructor.

We are all artists-in-progress because, no matter how good we are, we can always get better!

I love art and I love teaching art! I am a graduate of The Art Institute and an artist and animator that creates in pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and digital mediums.

I recommend that classes are *at least* 1.5 hours (and I really recommend 2 hours!) because that's what's needed to critique homework assignments, warmup, and do the work for the class, and not be rushed.

Educated in Europe, I was always inspired by my teachers and travels to continue honing my artistic skills. With practice, anybody can develop their own style, and I believe it's my duty to pass on the knowledge that was instilled in me as a young artist.
Expression of one's soul in art may be sometimes stronger than words, something that psychologists have proven for years.

About Isabela
I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested student who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I be
lieve in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.

The world of drawing is large and can be approached in many different ways, and I am eager to help artists reach their full potential. From rendering the human form to techniques in wet and dry media, I am here to help guide begining/intermediate/ and advanced students how to warm up and prep for a rewarding drawing experience. No matter your background with art, I have approaches to help my students become skilled in this medium. I am flexible at both being a guide for a specific vision of my students, or I can share with you masterful techniques that will turn your drive and talent into a true gift. Please reach out, and we can explore your new passion together.

About Leah
My gift as a teacher comes from my love of working with people and my natural talent as an artist. I am a great communicator, enjoy answering questions, and have the desire to help students deal with challenging situations. I have been a studio artist since 2007 and a teacher of many different art mediums since 2011. Working with both adults and children, I am capable of implementing age-appropriate lessons, as well as working with both mental and physical disabilities. I received my Masters in Fine Art a year ago from San Francisco Art Institue, where my focus was Studio Art. I believe that the skills I have acquired from drawing have significantly helped me with all the other mediums I have been exploring during my present art career. I believe whether it is the only medium you are exploring or one of many, it is an important skillset
. I have an understanding of every medium in the world of drawing, and I believe my gift is that I have the patience and desire to share my love of art with you. As I have worked very hard to become a skilled artist, I would be more than happy to have the opportunity to share my most valuable lessons with you, so you can hone in on your talents and feel the success of rendering a meaningful artwork. With a great sense of humor, I like to inspire my students to be courageous and have fun!
