I have a degree in music with a teaching certificate. I have been teaching cello privately for 10 years. Depending on the age of the child we will start with either Essential Elements or Suzuki cello book one. They will start with proper positioning and plucking. Once they have 8 notes down, we start bowing. As we progress, we will be doing scales, and etudes.
About Chris
I have been teaching private violin for over 20 years, and private viola/cello for about 10. I have taught in Charles and St. Mary's County Public schools. I am a member of American Strings Teacher's Association, National Association for Music Educators (Maryland Music Educators Association), and t

All cello lessons are taught as private, one-on-one music instruction in music studio. Cello lessons are tailored to each student by taking their goals, experience, and learning pace into consideration.
For beginner students, lessons include fundamentals – such as posture, instrument position, bow and left hand technique, and music reading/sight reading as well as fun musical learning games
For Intermediate students, lessons focus on performing repertoire from all musical periods. More advanced bow and left hand techniques such as spiccato, shifting, and vibrato will be covered, as well as advanced note reading, listening, and music theory.

Together we will learn the beginning essentials to playing the cello and reading cello music. I focus on good technique from the beginning so a student should expect to spend a good amount of time in lessons on technique exercises and posture checks. We will also learn music based on the student's experience.

I have played in a variety of musicals and various college orchestras and chamber groups. Because of my approach to music I don't consider classical my forte but I can still teach any student cellist a great amount about beginning to advanced playing in any style - including classical.
I am also comfortable playing a variety of styles on the cello, namely jazz.
About Jared
I am overjoyed and grateful to say I have been teaching music since 2008. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience. More importantly, I love teaching and playing music with a passion. I play a great variety of instruments and have had the opportunity

Many musicians consider the maker of their instrument, or luthier, a point of pride. There are famous luthiers, like Stradivari and Guarneri, whose names are synonymous with masterpieces of craftsmanship. These masters innovated many of the standards for modern stringed instruments, and so many luthiers might include on the la …
