About Frixos
Frixos states that his love for music probably started before he was born. “I’m pretty sure the Motown sounds my mother loved to listen and move to permeated to me through her.” Add to that his exposure to different ethnic sounds like Greek (his origins) folklore and contemporary music, Portuguese Fado (his birthplace and early childhood), Italian Bel Canto and modern pop, American Jazz, Afro, etc. and it’s easy to see how music helped shape Frixos’ passion. Each had an influence on him, “as they were incessantly played by my parents,” Frixos adds. “In fact it would be safe to say that music was the predominant form of entertainment at home."

By the age of seven, Frixos started to frequent a music school where he was introduced to percussion instruments. Soon after, he took on classical guitar based on the UK Royal Academy of Music cu
rriculum. A couple of years later in 1998, Frixos found his true calling … music composition, Jazz and the Saxophone. Frixos’ purple tenor sax goes everywhere he goes!

“Part of my love for the Saxophone is rooted in this instrument’s versatility for improvisation.” Moving into music composition seemed a natural course for Frixos to follow, culminating in his graduation in 2013 with a University of Florida Music Composition BA from The New World School of the Arts in Miami.

“I was fortunate to be selected to play in various collegiate and other Jazz bands and be mentored by great jazz performers and educators.” Among them was Ed Calle, twice nominated for the Latin Grammy Award; Joe Donato, one of the most active and innovative musicians working in the field of jazz who has performed with many of the greats including Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey, Carmen McRae, Nina Simone, Jack Jones, and Arturo Sandoval; Rafael Valencia where “I was honored to play for his Latin Jazz Big Band” says Frixos; the wonderful pianist Jim Gasior who has played with Ed Calle, Wendy Pedersen, Fernando Ulibarri and Aaron Lebos; the published and well decorated guitarist Dr. Mike Di Liddo, to name a few.

Of course there were lesser known people that had a profound influence on Frixos for which he makes it a point to say that he is “eternally grateful”. He adds, “My passion for composing was further affirmed thanks to Dr. Susan Epstein Garcia who showed me that there’s no limit to musical expression.” Dr. Ferdinando De Sena brought Frixos another dimension through his teachings of electronic music.

Frixos seeks to create variety in his compositions, by using worldly rhythms and sounds expressed through a multitude of instrumental expressions to create his own unique contemporary sound. “I look for connections between different music genres, from classical, rock, pop, funk, reggae, fusion, jazz etc. These connections are what I bring to my music” continues Frixos.

In October 2007 Frixos released his first CD titled “Cause Frixion” which was dedicated to fund-raising for The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida. This album included a tune he wrote earlier that year called “Freedom”. Other works have been published more recently on the internet, namely cdbaby, iTunes etc. and are played on internet radio stations.

Frixos continues to perform gigs with different musicians and bands in venues around the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale area, including recording sessions for Fourth Dimension and others. He plays multiple instruments including alto, soprano and tenor sax, flute and keyboards. His performances comprise events at the renowned Van Dyke Café on Lincoln Road; Avenue D; Crescendo Jazz and Blues Lounge; Churchill’s Pub, a bastion for local musicians; Tobacco Road, the oldest music bar in Miami; Blue Jean Blues in Ft. Lauderdale where Al Kanovsky for The South Florida Jazz Scene wrote on October 15 2012, “They continued, raucously on, with everybody, musicians and audience having fun. A young man walked in, sax case in hand. Joe (Donato) invited him up to jam. What can I say. His name is Frixos, (yes it's right) and this kid can blow.”

Frixos did an excellent job with my son Ryan. It was Ryan's very first saxaphone lesson today, and he is excited and really enjoyed the lesson Frixos provided materials to study, was very patient, and Ryan made excellent progress for his very first lesson. We will be signing up our daughter with him later this week.

About Tamari (Tamara)
Hi, there! I'm Tamara and I can't wait to meet you!

On social media and for those who are more familiar, I'm Tamari. We all learn in different ways; some are more visual; others, auditory; some, kinesthetic--I combine a number of different modalities in my teaching, including direct feedback-teaching--once you learn a concept or skill, teach it, as soon as you possibly can, to someone else! -- this reinforces your own knowledge of the skill or concept!
I've been teaching private lessons for many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment
to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I went to Indiana University's Jacob School of Music and earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

Tamari Witkin is not only an incredible musician, but is one of only a few teachers who is deeply committed to making sure that any student she takes under her wing will fledge comfortably and competently. Tamari has a keen sense of exactly what is needed to help a particular student overcome a particular pianistic impediment to learning to play the piano. Moreover, she brims with such enthusiasm that it all becomes so much fun studying with her that one cannot help but feel like and sound like they are becoming a pianist.
I highly recommend anyone at any level of piano playing to study with Tamari,
NOW!!!!

It was a pleasure working with Tamari Witkin over the years that she was located in Milford and participated in the Schubert Club of Fairfield County. I am familiar with her piano performance, which was high level, showing fine musicianship and great sensitivity to the message of the pieces.
I have also sung with her; and again, she shows a high degree of musicianship!

About Drew
As a recent recipient of a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, Drew Powell is a promising young flutist and highly sought after flute teacher. For 15 years, he has participated in numerous music competitions, festivals, and performance opportunities, both as a soloist and part of ensembles, and actively continues to do so. He is an advocate of the arts and passionate about spreading the gift of music, which has lead him to teach over 30 students (and counting!) in just the past 3 years.

Drew won the 2017 Myrna Brown Artist Competition (an international competition with no age limit) hosted by the Texas Flute Society. He was recently invited to be a guest artist at the 2018 Texas Flute Society Annual Convention, where he taught several masterclasses and gave solo performances.

**My Vision***
I seek students who share a love of learning. I am not looking for the finest musicians or highest IQ's, because those gifts are not required to learn and grow. My greatest experiences as a teacher have come from when I work with students who just want to learn more.

***My Requirements***
I hold my students to high expectations when it comes to practicing. Each week, I give students individual assignments that I know will improve their learning and playing abilities, and I expect those assignments to be fulfilled by the next lesson. A failure to do so will result in frustration for both myself and my student.

However, I know that nobody is perfect, and I myself have had my share of weeks where life happens, and I simply don't progress as much as I would like. As a teacher, I understand this perfectly, and I will always strive to listen to my students, and work with them through their difficulties or struggles.

***What To Expect From Lessons***
I bring a lot of energy to lessons! I am very passionate about teaching and helping students grow, and I make sure to bring that to every lesson. I give concise, direct feedback to students, making sure to give them the information they need to understand how they can achieve their goals and grow.

I am very perceptive of students' feelings, and I take care to be sensitive to their needs each week. My worst fear as a teacher is to cause hurt feelings, so I will do everything in my power to avoid that!

I am an expert in the field of music and the flute, so you can be rest assured that the quality of instruction will be the highest.

I take flute lessons from Drew. He is a real flutist with musical talent and technique. Not only that but he has such good eyes and ears to tell me what I am missing. He corrected me things that none of my past teachers mentioned to me. I really enjoy playing so I keep practicing till I can play like him!

My daughter had Drew as her first teacher for the 2015-2016 school year. He was excellent at explaining concepts and techniques to her as she began to learn the flute. He helped her to have fun as she learned. He is patient, knowledgeable, positive, and communicates concepts and expectations well. We would have loved to have him stay in the area and continue as her teacher.

I had the privilege of having Drew as my private flute teacher for the 2015-2016 school year, and I would have loved to remain his student if he hadn't moved. He's incredibly patient, thoughtful, and hardworking, and he helped me correct problems that previous teachers never even noticed. I improved in so many areas in a short period of time, including overall tone, physical technique, performance psychology, practice habits, and applying musicality to my performance. Easily the best teacher I've ever had.

About Jessica
I am a local small musician who does soprano and baritone ukulele cover videos. I record my own songs and post them online, and help others do the same! I learned guitar and viola at a young age and then taught myself how to play the soprano and baritone ukulele. I have been taught by amazing teachers, taught some of the best students including myself! My different experiences as student, teacher, and musician make learning a lot of fun. I take a lot of influence from popular you tube musicians and love using that as a tool to teach and learn. I even have an extra ukulele you can use during class if you need! I will have helpful worksheets and tools for you to take home and practice on your own time as well.

Currently I record cassettes and digital audio files. I have also created really fun music videos with all of the music produced
myself. Through high school I was in a few bands, and I have always had such a huge passion for music and seeing that passion grow in others.

My clients learn how to play in my comfortable and creative home. I have beautiful acoustics in my living room, with inspiring artwork on the walls and a ton of natural light. I work with singers and uke players of various age and talent range!

About Amanda
I am a professional singer who graduated with a master's in Vocal Pedagogy from the Boston Conservatory and a bachelor's in Vocal Performance from George Mason. My passion lies in teaching singers to use their voice with the greatest efficiency and artistry possible. I place heavy emphasis on technique and help students set manageable goals for their progress.

I am trained a classical soprano and contemporary musical theater singer. In my early training, I sang mostly church music as well as musical theater, but fell in love with opera and classical singing at George Mason. I have performed in numerous operas, including the title role of Hänsel in Humperdink’s Hänsel and Gretel and First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. I also performed in musical theater reviews and jazz ensembles at Mason. I enjoyed the opportunity to perform abroad
and choreographed for a production of La Traviata in Italy for the La Musica Lirica Summer Program. I currently sing in a small, early music ensemble run out of St. Benedict's Church in Richmond, VA.

Though she enjoys performing, I am a teacher at heart. I have been giving private voice lessons for years and have taught for such schools as the Potomac Arts Academy in Fairfax, Virginia and the Boston Arts Academy in Boston, Massachusetts. I was also the vocal coach for Boston City Singers’ Cantare Singers, a group of students between the ages of ten and fourteen. I enjoy working with singers of all ages and interests. I'm excited to meet you to begin your vocal journey!

About Ryan
I have recently relocated to Nashville TN to pursue my music career. I am an active drummer/drum instructor and looking to fill up my schedule with students.

Back home in California, I managed to be in 4 bands and teach 15 students at two different music schools. I have been playing drums my entire life. I come from a family of musicians and drummers. My father and two brothers also play drums. My father is one who first showed me around the kit when I was just a kid. I have 20 years of experience now. 5 years of teaching experience. I love sharing my knowledge with others and it excites me to do so. I have built my own lesson plans on learning the basics and have proven it works. Working with me, you will become a well rounded drummer. My goal is to have you be able to sit down with any group, any style, and know exactly what to play.
As well as rudiments applied to the drum set, learning how to read sheet music, playing all genres, improvising, and understanding how to "read" other musicians. We will also learn your favorite songs!

Keep it positive. Keep it fun. Keep it challenging. Progress with be made and you will see results quickly if you stay up on your daily practicing, just like me!
