My classical guitar lessons focus on technique, repertoire, theory, and other concepts. This is accomplished through studies created by myself and through several books by master guitarists. I make sure students are able to isolate areas of focus and integrate them together to become well-rounded musicians.

About Daniel

Hello! My name is Daniel and I have been playing and teaching guitar and bass (electric and upright) in all styles for over 15 years. I even have a Masters Degree and a Bachelors in music to show for it. My students have the benefit of highly customized lessons based on their interests and goals

Taking Electric Bass Guitar lessons with Dan Brown, has been a great experience. Dan listened to my goals and tailored the lessons around my ability and musical influences. His classes are well structured, but also relaxed. Dan has incredible knowledge of the Bass and has encouraged me in all styles of play including slap Bass. I have no hesitation in recommending Dan to anyone interested in learning Bass.

Good experience definitely would recommend! Encouraging teacher who is committed to helping you learn what you want to learn.

I totally enjoyed my class with Geoff. We immediately started my lesson with tuning the ukulele. Then we went over the cords and strumming. I have been researching on playing the ukulele and his explanation on the strumming was a lot better than the book. He is teaching me how to play by listening to the notes which is great because I would be able to play the Hawaiian music for my hula classes. In addition, his studio is only a 5 minute drive from my house, which means I don’t have to deal with traffic.

"Ahmad is a gifted and patient instructor. I was looking for a jump-start towards learning to play guitar after years of false starts on my own and Ahmad was the perfect choice for me. It's rare for someone with his playing ability to also be able to impart knowledge to those with far less innate ability but Ahmad is able to relate to his students at their level (whatever it may be). Ahmad has a way of making his students understand that bad habits can be overcome over time and he has distilled his approach so that anyone he works with can improve. I'd recommend him for anyone looking to improve regardless of their skill level."

He is so versatile in his music knowledge that I can litterally throw anything his way that I'm curious about and he points me in the right direction. Should Classical Violinists Learn to Improvise?

A few weeks ago the Washington Post published an article about musician Hannah Hanh and her struggles with improvisation.  As a classical violinist, she hadn't had much training for spontaneity, naturally. The article points out improvisation as a technique that has fallen by the wayside for many performers these days. And it asks an interesting question: Can (and should) classical musicians learn to improvise? We've talked a lot about improvising on the guitar and drums, but where do classi …
