I have a background in fundamental rhythm, rather than teaching the student to simply play, I teach them to read and write their own rhythms and drum beats in a fun and hands-on manner using methods that music teachers around the country use in their classrooms. Furthermore, I have years of experience teaching children as young as 4 years old from their very first lesson. I’ve developed my own method for children to read drum music using simple and an easy to understand rhythmic language.

I first discovered Anthony’s drumming hearing him at the Newport Jazz Festival playing the drums with Grammy Winner and virtuoso pianist Danilo Pérez. Never have I been more blown away by hearing a musician live. He was in his early 20s at the time and had all the signs of someone with a special gift who would go very far in the music world. The drumming spoke for itself.
Then, later that day, he taught a drum clinic for hundreds of under-privileged high school students and adults that had the room buzzing. I saw the profound difference in the students’ playing immediately. And it became clear why people all over the world contract Anthony for his teaching.
We kept in touch over the years and I took lessons whenever I was in Los Angles at his studio. After the first lesson, I found I had already learned more facility at the drum set than from years of slogging through method books and teachers who didn’t know what they were doing.
Since the beginning of this year, I have switched over to weekly online lessons, which I found to be just as effective as in-person studies. We are now studying advanced concepts and exercises for developing technical facility and versatility as a drummer in the 21st century (and I played my first gig on the drums!). I feel truly fortunate to be able to take lessons with one of the world’s greatest drummers. No matter what genre you play, and whether you’re a complete beginner or advanced drummer, I know you’ll benefit immensely from Anthony’s experience, world-class artistry, and personable approach.

I whole-heartedly agree! He jumped right in, asked some great questions and quickly deduced Jonathan's skill level.
He was able to give him something tough enough to really challenge Jonathan, but still within his range to be able to do..
Great!"

I am blown away every week with how engaged and enthused my 7 year old is while under Murray's instruction. His style and technique are clearly adapted to the benefit of the individual student and his professionalism is a breath of fresh air. My child is having so much fun and is thriving in his drumming lesson. We recommend Mr Piper 150 % !"

We love the respect and sometimes superhuman patience Mike shows our son. He seems committed to the process of learning rather than the result. It’s an important distinction and we feel extremely fortunate to have found Mike.
Mike sets realistic expectations tailored to our kid, but the main focus is the love of the instrument rather than some cookie-cutter formula. If Duncan is having an off day, Mike takes it from where he is with no badgering or haranguing.
I’d recommend him to anyone looking to learn to play drums. Even if you’re an adult. He’s a great teacher.”
