I have worked at the YMCA as well as a therapeutic after school program. Since then I am a caseworker full time, working for at risk families in our community. I have a wealth of experience as a trumpeter and music teacher, and hold three degrees in music: DMA from Univ. of Georgia, MM from UT-Austin, and BM from N. Dakota State Univ. I am trained mostly in and play primarily "classical" trumpet, but have experience performing and teaching jazz and pop/commercial styles. Working with kids and adults on music is enjoyable and fulfilling, and I strive to help students as much as possible.

I help my students build a strong foundation in the fundamentals of trumpet playing using my own material, classic books from the trumpet pedagogy, and contemporary songs. I make an effort to find out what music the student is interested in and what they find enjoyable to play and shape the lesson plan around that. I find this approach makes the instrument fun to play!

I am an audiophile that enjoy all types of music and have experience playing in a wide variety of genres like jazz, rock, pop, ska/reggae and classical.

I'm a music-loving stay-at-home dad who enjoys sharing his hobbies of guitar and trumpet with the world! I have been teaching students of all ages, from elementary-age to older adults, for over 4 years now and I particularly enjoy introducing beginners to the joys of a new instrument. While I have studied music and music education at the university level, I have also learned a great deal through real-world experience and playing alongside other musicians and gleaning whatever I can from them. I have played both trumpet and guitar my whole life and consider myself to be a life-long learner of both instruments. I have spent over 12 years studying trumpet. During this time I have focused on jazz and it's impact on pop, rock, and R&B music. Coupled with my expertise as a lead singer, I can take your performance skills and stage presence to the next level. I also work great with kids, creating a fun learning environment to get them excited about different styles of music.
