I've played both Fretted and Fretless Electric Bass since I was 16. I even got to study Double Bass with Clarence Seay at VCU and I specialize in songs from the Great American Songbook (show tunes movie themes, etc) plus improvisation for working musicians.

I have been helping students reach their goals for over 20 years! I am a working musician and professional performer who has been involved in music my entire life. My teaching methods help students achieve success because I adjust to each student's needs and abilities, individually, to create a great experience. I couple traditional teaching with performances and offer professional student shows and concerts throughout the year to help enrich the experience! Above all, I teach you how to have fun and really enjoy your musical journey, lets get started today!

Focuses can include: Understanding the fretboard, right and left hand techniques, reading bass clef, the role of the bass in a band situation, learning to be able to improvise on the fly, tone shaping, fingers vs pick, basic slap/pop and much more!

I have been teaching bass for 30+ years, I start out with the rudiments of music, which include... Reading the Bass Clef, (and bass tabs) notes and note values, Rests, Time signatures etc. In the lessons you will learn good right hand position and technique, Left hand position, The fingerboard (fret-board), music theory and exercises, lessons on slapping, popping, tapping, chords scales, finger picking, Bass riffs, and tips, and many other lessons, of course you will learn simple songs as well as working on complicated songs and riffs, my lessons involve ear-training and when applicable sight-singing or harmonizing, which I try to encourage all students and musicians to do.

We're gonna play some grooves and HAVE FUN! I'm a professional musician and have been a performing bassist for over 20 years, and I hope to pass along some of my knowledge and expertise to you. I customize your lessons to your needs and what you want to do with your ability to play bass. I can prepare you for any genre as I include fundamentals (for example, scales and arpeggios) in your practice. I use these books for reference and/or lesson work:

- Mel Bay's Deluxe Jazz & Rock Bass Method (Vincent Bredice)
