We will make sure each student understands the foundation, then build from there. Some students require different approaches to learning, and I work with the students' strengths to help them build their knowledge.

I've used calculus in my career for 35 years, as a mechanical engineer and a computational physicist. I know how to solve problems from several different perspectives, so if a student is struggling with one method, I have a repertoire of other techniques to deploy. I find that students thrive when they are given solid examples of solutions and the content isn't hidden from them. I can help expand a student's advantage with computational tools such as Excel and Matlab to accelerate knowledge and deeper understanding.

About Thomas

I am a computational physicist and a business strategist with the navy, and an adjunct professor at NVCC in engineering and computer science. I've worked with some brilliant young scientists and engineers from all over the world and I'm a continuous learner. I have a Doctor of Science Degree in F

I am a current private tutor and entrepreneur with 9+ years of experience FEATURED ON FORBES 30 UNDER 30 in 2016.

I strive to not just teach the subject, but also the psychology of elite test-takers, to not just get you ready for one test, but to also teach you the process that allows for repeated & continued success.

With my quadrilingual ability, I created “La Méthode” or in English, The Method, a tutoring style combining the best of the American and the French approachs to learning so that students can learn from world-renowned theories at the same time as they discover more practical examples to delve into.

My goal is to see you so proficient with the subject that you are able to teach it yourself.

About Aziz

I have changed environments many times, settling in Paris after living in Morocco for eighteen years then moving to a complete new world, here in the USA. Helped by the fact that I am quadrilingual, I am quite used to interact with people from different backgrounds. While I love helping students un

My love of tutoring, and the desire to pay forward the help and inspiration I was given from teachers and tutors, has developed through over ten years of tutoring elementary through graduate school level math and physics, most recently at Harvard. I believe a tutor’s main role is to empower. As such, I try to guide a student to take a problem apart into ever smaller pieces until the tutee is able to solve each of those small pieces independently. Each small success helps the student believe they are able to tackle the subject on their own. The student dictates the pace of learning, but I try to help them keep track of the bigger picture and avoid frustration when tackling each step of a problem. The end goal is for the student to learn not just to understand the necessary concepts and calculations, but to learn how to dissect and approach any problem with confidence.

Analogies and real-world examples are critical to explaining concepts to any student, and I try to choose ...

About Nicholas

My interest in math and physics started with a childlike wonder at the infiniteness of space, brought home by watching the yearly Perseids meteor shower from the deck of my family’s cottage on a rural island in Canada. In college, I tried to pursue my curiosity to the utmost, taking courses in abst

My interactions with Nicky have mainly included his support on multivariable calculus topics. In my experience, there are few teachers who can help synthesize the material from as many different angles as Nicky can. Specifically, as an international student myself, I would typically understand topics somewhat differently as compared to how it was explained in my courses; to a certain extent I was probably a prisoner of my math foundations acquired in a different educational system that had taught me how to solve problems sets but not necessarily to see or appreciate all the possible real world applications that these concepts would have. It has always been appreciated that Nicky would go through the crux of the problem and show me the concept applicability to the real world, which was critical for me to have a truly decent understanding of the material. It must also be highlighted that Nicky has a strong understanding of cultural differences and how students with different educational backgrounds learn best, which I believe makes him one of the top resources for international students (and not only) to leverage Nicky’s support and ensure smooth transition to a new educational environment. I would fervently recommend Nicky as a tutor / teacher to anyone in need.

I had Nicky as a member of the teaching staff for a math class in the fall. He became my advisor for the final project and he was essential for my success. He helped me think more deeply about mathematical modeling and working with him on my final project was the best part of the class.
Sophia
For several years in high school, Nicky worked with me for my math and physics courses (trigonometry, Calculus BC, linear algebra, differential equations, AP Physics C, as well as using MatLab), and I quickly came to know that whatever the concept, whatever the question, Nicky would be able to help me to a point of confidence and mastery. His explanations were clear and step-by-step, starting with what I understood and building from there. He consistently made me feel at ease, in part simply because he's a really approachable, friendly, and calm person. His own enthusiasm for the subject matter--even when it was sometimes very introductory material--rubbed off on me, too; I would walk in stressed and confused and walk out yearning to learn more about the subject. Our sessions definitely contributed to my decision, now in college, to major in physics.

"Colin is a fabulous teacher. He worked with my children as they prepared for their AP Calculus exam a few years back, and we enlisted his tutorage as my son prepared for his Calculus 3 exam this year.
Colin knows his material. He is patient and ensures the student is keeping pace with him as he explains the methodology. He takes the time necessary to ensure the student knows the material and is able to follow the explanations. As anyone who has studied math knows, you can't rush the process. Each step is a crucial foundation for the next.
Thank you Colin!"

"Colin helped me through the last semester of IB Calculus. He would email me two days before each lesson so he was prepared with a relative lesson plan for our hour long weekly session of review. He even created a video explaining a topic I was stuck on and sent it to me after our weekly session. I wouldn’t have gotten an A in the last semester without him. Thanks Colin."

"I tried my school's tutoring center over the break and saw no improvement in my class so I went through two tutors before finding Marthe. My problem was with their speed and lack of clarity in the teaching but I'm glad to say that I've had none of these issues with her. She is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and clear in her teaching. I'm definitely no math wiz but with Marthe's help I scored a 94% in Calculus I. I have recommended her to my close friends and will use her until graduation and likely for my GMAT as well. She is amazingly good at Math!"

He is really dedicated as a teacher and he doesn't let the student give up. He encourages the student to put their maximum potential. He also creates such an atmosphere where the student enjoys problem-solving. I have gone from failing to achieving decent grades."

How to Score a 5 on the AP Calculus Test

Getting ready to take the AP Calculus test? Brush up on these study tips from Olympia, WA tutor Tali H...   The AP Calculus exam is rumored to be one of the harder AP tests - especially for those of us who math doesn't come easily to. The test takes three hours and 15 minutes, and has 45 multiple-choice questions and six short-answer questions. Both types have a non-calculator part and a calculator part. Even though it sounds daunting, with some determination and productive studying, …
