My goal is to share my knowledge as a classically trained actor and film director. I will create lesson plans catered to each individual that captures the complex and wonderful world of theatrical and on-camera performance. Students will be exposed to various acting methods created by Uta Hagen, Stanislavsky, Michael Chekhov, and others. Students will participate in multiple exercises and performances that will build and strengthen their bodies, voice, mind, and heart.

About Shirley

In 2008, I graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in Psychology and went on to receive my Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Southern California in 2012. As a graduate student at USC’s School of Dramatic Arts, I participated in the 3-year repertory acting program. While in gradua

Shakespeare wrote some of the best roles for actors, and his work is just packed with tools you can use to get the juiciest possible performances. I can help you find and use those tools, whether you’re highly experienced or you’ve never acted before.

I learned the basics of acting through doing Shakespeare, and I’ve introduced many young performers to acting the same way. (FYI it’s totally normal if you hated reading it in school!)

About Erin

I am an actor, speech & dialect coach, and acting teacher. I had steady freelance teaching and coaching jobs for 3 years in NYC, as well as steady acting work in NYC and Chicago theatre for 5 years total. I moved to LA from Cambridge, MA, where I earned my Master's in Acting from the American Rep

Erin is an excellent instructor. She is very knowledgeable, very generous with that knowledge, very attentive, and encouraging. She is not only good at what she does but she is also very good at teaching. If you're unsure when picking an instructor here, you couldn't go wrong with Erin.

She is great, just great. 1st course yet she immediately helped me understand what were the real issues and how to tackle them. Now I feel confident to pass in front of an audience, because I know I will be heard and I will be understood!

I was pretty nervous at first, more uncomfortable than nervous I suppose, but Vandi was quick to put me at ease and as we started working through different exercises and ideas I became more comfortable and got more out of my time with her. She's super nice and has a natural warmth about her that is welcoming and encouraging. .

Vandi is so warm and real. She is patient and gently corrects my mistakes. I can already hear a difference in the quality of my speech.

How to reach a modern audience. Scansion, the vital importance of this tedious exercise and how it can literally reveal deeper meaning. If your out there auditioning, you need at least two classical monologues of varying lengths, Shakespeare is what is usually expected and is still considered the pinnacle regarding the former and scenes as well. If you prefer a less practical approach, we can certainly attack the subject academically in the main, though academics are naturally included necessarily in the practical work as well. The bottom line is your lessons will depend on your experience, goals and abilities.

About Randy

I have always been an actor first, it is the craft and discipline in which I hold my advanced degrees; it is my first and eternal love. There really isn't much more one could add to such a claim. Simultaneously I have believed a teacher is born, not bred; and I was born to be in theatre, and now, wi

First off. Just want to say that we had to cancel our first session. However, I really like this guy because he had kept it real and set it straight on the reason why the session was cancel. He was very sick that day and he didn't want to be involved with the session not being at 100%. Respect! I wouldn't have wanted him not being at his best either. Takes alot of guts for a person to confess that. I really appreciated the honesty because that explains how passionate Randy is about the craft.
Second of all, when we did our first session, I had to deal with a rough technical patch of trying g to join in for the session. He had no problem helping me with this technical glitch rather than allowing TakeLessons (who I was unable to reach because of matainace issues), to handle it. He helped 5he TakeLessons team. A plus Randy! Though I had to finally use another device to finally join the session, Randy was still willing to have patience and help me with the tech problem.
Lastly, Randy brought a warm feeling to the session and yet sincere. He made me feel welcomed, which opened me up more during this session. This helped because I am uncomfortable with improv but want to get better. He understood this and gave a real honest approach. Also, he informed me that we were going to get a gist of my performance level and work from there. Furthermore, we were going to ease our way into improvement. This gave me alot more balance than other improv classes. He is even willing to give me a little homework that I can practice in prep for next week.
Randy is very encouraging and I enjoyed our first session. I'm exited for next week!

One of the most fulfilling experiences is helping students make discoveries. I teach acting to help students see a line in a brand new way or make a choice they never thought possible. I see teaching as a collaboration rather than a lecture. A lesson with me will be fun, informative, and full of creative exploration.

I hold a BA in Theatre with Concentrations in Musical Theatre and Acting from Temple University and have studied Shakespeare at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and Saratoga Shakespeare Company. I specialize in teaching Shakespearean verse and helping students put together a compelling audition package. Whether you are a high school student preparing to audition for college theatre programs, a working adult looking to get into community theatre, or a professional actor looking to freshen up an old monologue, I look forward to making discoveries with you!

About Heather

I am a professional actor currently based in Brooklyn NY. My love of acting started through musical theatre. When I went to college at Temple University, I discovered a whole world of Shakespeare and straight plays. During college, I developed a vocal disorder that made singing difficult. Through Sh

"I was always afraid I couldn't learn Shakespeare, but Nicholas explained the intent on the word, the intent on the line. Soon, I was so caught up in the meaning of the lines and the story I was telling in that moment that I was able to engage in the role, smoothly, without worrying that I was performing Shakespeare. He broke it down so I could understand it, and then feel confident doing it. Highly recommend!"

"I have learned so much with Nicholas. I feel like I'm always walking out of our lessons with my mind blown! We've been working on Shakespearean acting which I am now thoroughly enjoying. I now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the lines than which I have learned in school. I would highly recommend his coachings to any actor!"

"Not only is Kelsey proficient and very knowledgeable, she also has so much enthusiasm and an obvious love for teaching. She put me at ease right away and from the very beginning showed such excitement to be working with me. She comes prepared, takes the session very seriously, but also has fun with it so time flies by. I'm honored to be her student and pupil, and look forward to many more acting lessons, as she imparts her wealth of knowledge of Shakespeare and acting technique."
