About Jennifer L.

I love sewing! I love fabric, notions, tools and do-dads that will make the job easier. I also love sewing machines of all sorts. What's more, I enjoy showing people how to do and make things they may have been unsure about or afraid to try on their own. I go step by step through the process, whether you are just starting to learn techniques, or you have hit a snag in your current project. My main focus in my own sewing and crafting has been quilt-making, but I also sew, knit and crochet my own garments and bags. I have 18 years experience in hand and machine quilting, machine applique, hand embroidery (including silk ribbon), machine embroidery, free-motion machine embroidery, fabric painting and embellishment, and garment construction.

About Renee D.
CloseI love to sew and greatly enjoy teaching the craft. I have been sewing since I was 7 years old, when I was taught by my Grandmother. A FIDM Fashion Design graduate, I worked in the garment industry as a pattern maker and junior dress designer. I then went on to work for 14 years in the Motion Picture industry in costume design and stylist work.
I enjoy working with children, guiding them to use their creativity in the process of sewing. Lessons can be tailored to the students needs, from learning how to use the sewing machine to the best way to approach sewing different fabrics and patterns. From fashion to interior design, I am happy to guide you to a finished product.
About Renee
I have always tried to share my passion for all things artistic with my two children. By volunteering to run art projects at their school, I discovered the joy of teaching. I decided to combine that with my sewing expertise to help children and adults realize their creative vision. I like helping students explore their ideas while making a project come to life on the sewing machine.

I've been teaching sewing for 30 years and my students have gone on to creating their own clothing by use of patterns. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to gain knowledge of how to thread a sewing machine, tension, bobbin, stitches available according to your specific machine or ones I have available in my studio. As time goes on you'll be able to cut and sew a specific project's desired from patterns. I love working with students of all ages and I can't wait to meet you!

CloseI don't remember learning how to sew, that's how long I've been sewing! My mother taught sewing classes when I was little and I just picked it up from her! Since then I have taught many children how to sew! And some adults, too! It's an awesome skill. I love sharing this past time with others.

About Adenike O.
CloseHi all, I'm an experienced sewer with a degree in Textiles and Design! I've been sewing and teaching for over 20 years and love what I do.
Because I've worked with children and created lesson plans I know exactly how to teach with clarity and work according to the needs of my students.
About Adenike
My name is Adenike, you can call me Adé. I'm a trained fashion stylist and designer with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design from the University of Rhode Island.
I have taught sewing and design, to people of all ages, genders, and abilities throughout my professional career. It began in 2002 when I decided to work with the Americorps, Teach America program. There I created and executed a lesson plan that taught students how to sketch, render, sew, read patterns and adjusts garments for personal to suit their personal needs. The program incorporated science, math, and history so that they had a practical and anthropological approach to fashion design. It was great, and I discovered that one of my other joys in life is teaching.
Most recently, I've worked with Hobby Quest, where I teach children in an after schoo
It's recommended that you schedule for a minimum of 60 minutes to get the most out of your lesson.
*IMPORTANT* Potential students interested in working on projects will be asked for project details and current sewing ability.
If a student is a beginner sewer, then he or she will be required to have a complete command of fundamental sewing as well as basic machine knowledge before introduction of project. There will be no exception to that rule.

Hello!
I'm a professional costume designer based in Chicago (meriembahri.com).

About Meriem
On takelessons.com I can be your:
- French teacher or/and
- Sewing teacher (with a French accent!)
I lived in France for 18 years (childhood and college) and 9 years in Tunisia (middle and high school, in a French school), and I moved to the USA in 2011.
I began teaching while doing my PhD (Université de Lille, 2010). I now work as a costume designer and specialize in opera, but my very first job in the US was teaching for a French theater summer camp!
Now I occasionally translate documents, and help opera singers with their pronunciation & understanding of French lyrics.
I also have an American boyfriend who is learning French with me from scratch!
I would like to share my love for the French language and culture with more people, through fun conversations.
For the sewing part, I will let you visit my website me
