Teaching Electric Guitar & Acoustic guitar for the past 5 years while living in Kenya has been both unique and ideal in advancing my skill not only as a teacher but as a player. I have had the opportunity to come into contact with different styles of music both western styles and African and more traditional styles. My pre-disposition playing with different influences has left me with a unique understanding of different styles of Playing and musical styles.

About Trevor Mark

I was born and raised in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. I recently moved to the US. I pride myself on being exposed to a wide range of musical styles, cultures, and vocabulary. This has left me with a unique knowledge and approach to how I play the Guitar. Come on board, Lets get Rocking!

Before looking for a guitar teacher I knew I wanted someone who could teach to me why things work the way that they do in music and also the importance of practice and technique. Trev does a tremendous job of turning complicated theory into something simple to get you playing fast and confidentially. My favorite thing about Trev is his patience when he teaches and his constant reminders to trust the process, keep working and I'll be the guitar player I've always wanted to be. Appreciate you Trev!

Damien explains the concept very well and asks questions to find out how much I already know. He tailors the classes to my abilities (I used to play piano and guitar) and interests. I am inspired to practise the techniques so I can play the music I chose. Just my third lesson and Damien is already introducing “improvisation” and that I was ready as long as I practise my scales. Being taught by Damien is exhilarating. Very blessed.
Ben Snyder
I really enjoyed my lesson and am very excited about learning to play the banjo and taking more lessons!

Damien does a great job of mixing theory with practical application.

Do you want to play like Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan? Want to learn how to play folk, pop, country, heavy metal, or even write your own original music? The primary focus of my lessons is learning songs and styles that inspire you as a student! Playing guitar is meant to be fun, and that is why I like to get my students to dive right into learning how to play their favorite songs. From there, we will begin to look at what makes this particular song, style, or artist sound the way it does, and learn how to recreate it in your own voice. This is where music theory comes in. I believe in teaching students in a way that makes them well-rounded musicians, which includes learning and applying music theory, ear-training, and most importantly, learning to play what most inspires you!

About Natalie

My name is Natalie, and I teach guitar! I teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced students in all styles, including acoustic and electric. My favorite guitarists include John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Derek Trucks. I specialize in blues and rock, and also teach country, folk,

"Ahmad has opened up the world of music to me. Before I started taking lessons with Ahmad, music was simply something I enjoyed listening to, but was a bit of an abstraction. I had always wanted to learn an instrument, specifically the guitar, but had suffered an injury to my finger when I was a teenager and thought there was little point in trying with a significant handicap. Now at middle age I decided to try anyway.

For two years I've been taking lessons with Ahmad every week and have found a lifelong hobby. Ahmad has been patient and understanding to my level of ability and has guided me to not only improve dramatically my level of playing, but also has taught me the basic fundamentals of music which makes me appreciate listening to and playing music more than I ever had. Ahmad is a gifted teacher who can quickly uncover and fix fundamental problems with technique and builds lesson plans to teach one how to play the guitar as a musical instrument.

I am so happy I found Ahmad. He has given me a lifelong passion to improve my playing and a deeper understanding of the music I've loved my entire life. If you've ever thought about learning the guitar, do yourself a favor and see Ahmad now."

"I've been with Karney for a few years now, and I have learned so much from him! I remember thinking about how I would probably never be able to learn to play an instrument, but after working with Karney for only a short time, that changed. Karney is such a nice guy, and a wonderful guitar player! He is able to teach a variety of genres as well. I would highly recommend him as a teacher! :)"

What is Guitar Technique? And Why Does it Matter?

What's the deal with guitar technique anyway? Guitar teacher Alexander A. explains a few of the fundamentals and why they are so important... If your teacher is cracking the whip every lesson because your hands aren’t in the proper position you may be asking yourself, “Does my guitar teacher hate me?” The answer is “no” – at least, I certainly hope not!
