I've been teaching Brass Instruments for 8 years and my students are typically band students, and marching students. I use a variety of books from the typical book you would use as a student in a band program to a more advanced method for other players. Each student is different so I try to evolve to meet their specific needs and learning styles. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

Stellar teacher! He really knows his stuff and how to convey it!

I am an adult who has no experience with any type of instrument and was very nervous and intimidated at first. Then I met with Michael, and though there was a ton of information we had to go through, he really made me feel at ease. He has the knowledge, patience, and understanding I was really looking for in a teacher and I'm so happy I found him!

With his flexibility and willingness to accommodate us my daughter learned a lot from him. He was a wonderful teacher and a great person to do business with.

As a professional brass musician, I have been teaching brass instruments for over twelve years.

For the beginner level, I have introduced many students to their first instrument ensuring that fundamentals are in place. At the intermediate level, I have helped many students advance in competitions and seat assignments within their band program. As a collegiate educator, I have given masterclasses at universities and private lessons to music performance students preparing for auditions and solo recitals.

I have taught online lessons for over four years and have used multiple online communication platforms to teach effective lessons. My students truly enjoy the online interaction during their lessons.

I have taught a wide variety of ages - everyone from 10 years old to 76 years old. One of the great joys I have in teaching is that each student brings their own unique strengths to lessons. My goal is to raise their level of playing while always having fun.

About Jeremy

Jeremy S. has been teaching private brass lessons for over 13 years and is currently available to teach weekly lessons at his home in Centerburg, OH or online via the TakeLessons Classroom, Skype, Facetime, Google Hangouts, VSee, or AppearIn. My son has been taking trombome lessons with Jeremy for over a year and a half now. Jeremy provides great instruction, better than I could imagine in an online format. When my son is struggling with a new skill, Jeremy tries strategy after stratgy very patiently until he finds the technique that works. Jeremy puts in lots of extra time making recordings and selecting pieces for my son.

As a trumpeter, my skills vary from technique, jazz improvisation, lead trumpet playing, to classical playing. I was a member of the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra in 2018, a jazz band consisting of musicians selected from across the United States. With this band I traveled to Japan and performed in the Monterey Jazz Festival in California. I have also toured Europe on several other occasions playing festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Umbria Jazz Festival with the Philadelphia Jazz Orchestra. Here in the States I have played at venues such as Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Birdland, Chris’s Jazz Café in Philly, The Kennedy Center, and more.

About Jonny

I am a current student at William Paterson University studying jazz trumpet and music education. I have been fortunate to study with nationally and internationally acclaimed trumpeters Jeremy Pelt, Joe Mosello, and Nathan Eklund. Additionally, I have studied under the great guitarist Joseph Federic

Jonny Gittings is not only a remarkable and exceptionally talented musician, he is equally skilled in his instruction. My son and daughter have taken trumpet lessons from Jonny for years and he is professional, knowledgeable, and always has a plan and a solution. No matter what may be troubling my kids with their music, their form or their instrument, Jonny always makes them feel at ease and helps them overcome any obstacle. It was very detailed instruction. He provided accurate advice and easy-to-understand examples. His breathing technique, musicality and technique for expression were very helpful. And, needless to say, he had a wonderful personality.

I feel fortunate to have Bill as my teacher. Bill is an outstanding player and teacher. I have been able to progress far faster with lessons with Bill than I could on my own.
Chandler
When Bill was my band director over a decade ago, he was the best music teacher I'd had at that point. After reconnecting with him and having him work with me on my techniques more recently as an adult player, that opinion still stands very strongly. He has a wonderful way of phrasing things that help you just "get it," and has expert advice from everything from fundamentals and helping you achieve your best sound, to more advanced techniques such as double and triple tonguing.

"As Carlos's colleague at New England Conservatory, I have seen him teach at programs in both the US and Venezuela. I was privileged to see many joyful students during rehearsals and lessons Carlos led, as well as hear the immense musical progress always made. Moreover, Carlos has an unparalleled commitment to and refreshing perspective on the role of music in social development. I urge any prospective student and family to seek out Carlos's mentorship."

"Caleb has been my son’s trumpet instructor for almost a year now. He has a keen ability to get across everything needed for a highly effective online lesson. I cannot tell you what a HUGE convenience it's been for us to have these expert lessons in the comfort and convenience of our home. I would have to drive 45 minutes over a mountain pass to get to the nearest qualified instructor. In the middle of snowstorms, and even with my son in p.j.'s, we can have our lesson right here at home. In an ordinary lesson environment a parent usually is expected to leave the room. With Caleb, I can be nearby while my son receives his lesson. This is helpful for me to reinforce points that Caleb made during his lesson with my son when he is practicing during the week. Currently he's working with my son on his honor jazz band audition, as well as a classical oratorio piece that he'll be playing on tour in Europe with our local community orchestra. Caleb is qualified to teach any style of music. He’s super friendly but never loses his honesty with the student. We often have special requests for each lesson and Caleb is able to tailor each lesson to work on the new pieces and still fit in valuable instruction with scales and solid technique. Not only is Caleb a great teacher, but he is on many professional recordings, and is a regularly-working professional musician in Chicago. My son is very lucky to have him as an instructor. We're very impressed with Caleb and know you will be too!"

"Kate came for Sammy's first lesson today and she was lovely. She has a very calm and sweet demeanor and Sammy liked her right away. She took time at the end of the lesson to discuss what Sammy worked on as well as to make me a list of things to tell the instrument rental place about what is not working well on his trumpet. We are glad to have found Kate and look forward to the next lesson!"

"My name is Dee. I have been a middle school band teacher in the Clarkstown School District for over 20 years. I play trumpet in a local concert band and jazz big band each week. I have taken trumpet lessons with Vincent for a year and a half. Through his instruction and encouragement I have made great strides in my technical abilities, range and endurance. I appreciate the well prepared insights and materials he has for me at each lesson, whether it is written material, or "youtube" video insights he has researched and thought helpful. I am very impressed with his musicianship when he models, plays duets, and performs for me. His trumpet performing is wide ranging and always of the highest caliber, whether live, or in recording. As a teacher Vinnie always shows sincerity and humility which puts his students at ease and in a great place to learn."
