The viola is a beautiful instrument, full of warmth and depth for those willing to explore it. Viola lessons include theory, technique, repertoire, and more. We'll work together to design a lesson plan that works for you and your learning style.

About Gail
I began my musical journey with a recorder at the age of 3, and grew from there. I tried out several instruments, including French horn and piano, before finding the violin, and later the viola.

In 2018, I moved with my family from California to Texas, and found even more of what I love: music! Fort Worth is a music-loving area, and I'm happy to be here.

I began teaching began by accident when my twins entered a TK program. Their teacher asked for help with music - how could I turn down that request? I successfully wrote and taught the music program that I used for K-2 grade students at that school, and now teach violin and viola to beginner through intermediate students, advanced for viola.

I specialize in working with younger children, but love teaching kids of all ages (even adults!).

As a teacher, I am flexible and fun-lo
ving. I believe that music should always be fun, even when it's hard. I help foster a lifetime love of music, and work with him/her to design a custom program just for them.

I'm classically trained, but love all music, especially baroque, renaissance and Celtic styles. Medieval and renaissance music has a special place in my heart because I spent several years playing it as part of a string quartet.

I am available for online lessons all over the world, and I'm happy to record them so you can review them all week long.

*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson consists of checking student's progress, addressing any immediate issues, and developing technique/knowledge.

In 3-6 months, your child should be:
* Reading music consistently at a level appropriate to their progress.
* Developing an understanding of rhythm and meter.
* Placing their fingers properly for the most part.
* Developing correct posture and holding their instrument and bow in a relaxed manner that suits their body type and facilitates the freedom of movement required for making great music.

I specialize in working with kids of all ages - from 5 to 95!

I can help beginning students on viola learn the basics.

About Thomas
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

*** Specialties ***
music, band, orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, Percussion
classical, jazz improvisation

My son was very nervous about his first online lesson. His instructor had him start right in on the lesson, which helped my son quickly get over his nerves. By the end of the lesson, he was all smiles and feeling very confident about his ability to play a very hard piece for his solo contest. He is looking forward to his next lesson.

I have been playing viola for over 9 years and I love teaching people. I usually teach begginers or intermediate players. In my lessons you can expect me try to get to know you and see what your comfortable and what your not comfortable with. I try not to teach one student for over 1 and a half hour. I try to find interesting music for the student to play so it's not all base on my personal preference. If any more question please message or call me.

About Khang
Hello to students or parents who are searching for a private lesson teacher for your kid. I am a violist (viola player) and I've been playing for over 9 years. In my lessons you can expect me teach you skills that are helpful in the future and improvements in your own skills. I try my best to get close with my students and get to know them and see what song choices they like and dislike. I also look at what they excel in and what they lackin skill wise. I try to make my lessons interesting by asking the student what songs they would like to learn and make my lesson as fun as they can. If you have any more questions please message, text, or call me

In addition to my Violin training, I have taken viola lessons and have taught viola since moving to Ohio.

About Andrew

A dedicated teacher, Andrew has worked with students privately and in music schools in South Dakota, Iowa and Ohio. Currently, he maintains a private studio. His students have achieved a high degree of success, earning college scholarships and assuming leadership roles in their ensembles.

Andrew has performed across the United States and internationally in venues such as Cleveland's Playhouse Square and the Vienna Konzerthaus. I started working with Andrew after an 18 month hiatus and am very pleased. Andrew's teaching style is very adaptable, which for an adult student who works full time, is great. Some weeks I don't have a lot of time to practice and we focus on technique. Other times, we work on music and technique. He is also great about explaining the "how" and the "why" of why musicians should spend time on scales, technique, etc;
I would absolutely recommend Andrew to adult students and younger student.s

Andrew is an extremely knowledgeable and talented teacher. He explains technique exceptionally well, has an impressive understanding of phrasing and musicality while playing, and is very patient and understanding, he has a great sense of humor, while also giving students the right amount of push they need. He has high expectations but they are always attainable for his students, and he is very flexible with each students unique needs. I highly recommend him as an instructor, he is worth every penny and students always see quick and impressive improvement; I know I did while I studied with him.

Clef reading, making a beautiful viola sound, playing with comfort and ease, sight reading, and expressing yourself through music.

About Julia
Hey! I'm a junior viola performance major at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. I started playing violin when I was 8 years old, switched to viola at 13, and the rest is history! As a teacher, my values are being able to play with physical ease, building a connection with the music you are playing, and producing beautiful, ringing sound. Ideally, our lessons would take place at the music school building in the practice wing. I want the student to love the music that they are playing, so our repertoire choices will always be carefully thought through together. I have lots of experiencing teaching children with zero music experience but am also totally comfortable teaching higher levels including intermediate and high school.
