The viola is a beautiful instrument, full of warmth and depth for those willing to explore it. Viola lessons include theory, technique, repertoire, and more. We'll work together to design a lesson plan that works for you and your learning style.
About Gail
In 2018, I moved with my family from California to Texas, and found even more of what I love: music! Fort Worth is a music-loving area, and I'm happy to be here.
I began teaching began by accident when my twins entered a TK program. Their teacher asked for help with music - how could I turn down that request? I successfully wrote and taught the music program that I used for K-2 grade students at that school, and now teach violin and viola to beginner through intermediate students, advanced for viola.
I specialize in working with younger children, but love teaching kids of all ages (even adults!).
As a teacher, I am flexible and fun-lo
I'm classically trained, but love all music, especially baroque, renaissance and Celtic styles. Medieval and renaissance music has a special place in my heart because I spent several years playing it as part of a string quartet.
I am available for online lessons all over the world, and I'm happy to record them so you can review them all week long.
*** Lesson Details ***
A typical lesson consists of checking student's progress, addressing any immediate issues, and developing technique/knowledge.
In 3-6 months, your child should be:
* Reading music consistently at a level appropriate to their progress.
* Developing an understanding of rhythm and meter.
* Placing their fingers properly for the most part.
* Developing correct posture and holding their instrument and bow in a relaxed manner that suits their body type and facilitates the freedom of movement required for making great music.
I specialize in working with kids of all ages - from 5 to 95!

I can help beginning students on viola learn the basics.
About Thomas
Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.
Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.
I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.
For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.
My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.
*** Specialties ***
music, band, orchestra, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, violin, viola, cello, string bass, piano, Percussion
classical, jazz improvisation

beginner to intermediate
About JoAnne
I still love helping students reach their musical potential. I am currently directing the Salt Lake Valley New Horizons Orchestra (a group dedicated to helping older beginners and intermediates have fun while improving their music skills).
I offer a personalized approach, and I am able to tailor materials to best serve an individual student's needs. I am experienced at starting beginners, and also adept with intermediate students.
For special needs students I would need someone familiar with the student's needs to attend lessons with the student.

About Khang D.
CloseI have been playing viola for over 9 years and I love teaching people. I usually teach begginers or intermediate players. In my lessons you can expect me try to get to know you and see what your comfortable and what your not comfortable with. I try not to teach one student for over 1 and a half hour. I try to find interesting music for the student to play so it's not all base on my personal preference. If any more question please message or call me.
