David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.

David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

About David
David is a successful singer/songwriter/guitarist out of Baltimore, MD. He has a bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in composition from Salisbury University, where he also studied jazz and classical guitar . In the 18 years he has been performing (13 of those professionally) and playing guitar, he has released 4 CDs and written over 200 original songs. He has opened for major national acts like Journey, Maroon 5, Toby Keith, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Thrice, Story of the Year, The Bouncing Souls, Eric Hutchinson, Virginia Coalition and Graham Colton. In the process, he has performed at such notable venues as FedEx Field, Nationals Park, Jiffy Lube Live/Nissan Pavilion, the 9:30 Club, Rams Head Live and the Recher Theatre.

As a teacher, David has taught in numerous locations in the Maryland area for the last 16 y
ears. His students generally range anywhere from 4-70+ years old and come from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of proficiency, from basic beginners to advanced. Some of his students have also gone on to pursue careers in music, others have just learned as a hobby, and some have been somewhere in between the two. All are welcome!

My first lesson with David was excellent! He is very patient and knowledgeable. I now have extremely high expectations for learning to play the guitar. I highly recommend him. He gave me a thorough explanation about how guitars are made made, the parts, we tuned the guitar and I am ready to groove!

Based on abilities and aptitudes, Custom Curriculum is developed and implemented for every student The curriculum is based on student's desires and abilities and compiled from multiple sources.

About Peter
I am energetic, experienced and creative music teacher with a proven ability to get the very best out of pupils, an expert at identifying the appropriate resources required for a subject matter and ensuring that they are used efficiently and effectively Most of my students read and play simple music after 2-3 classes of active instruction.

I posses an extensive classical music and music pedagogy training. All my musical knowledge and expertise was attained in Eastern Europe. I play and teach piano, upright bass, bass guitar and a range of other instruments. Over the years I taught basic piano, the beginner violin, viola, cello and a variety of school instruments such as recorder and xylophone. I also teach advanced music theory, harmony and basics of composition and orchestral arranging required for music colleges. I especially
find it rewarding working with beginners and the opportunity to show them the amazing world of listening, playing and making music.

The teaching begins with identifying student's musical needs, goals and tastes. Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic repertoire. For those wishing to pursue more of a classical approach to music, there are proven methods to accomplish that goal established by European master teachers and pedagogues. Also, I can teach the know-how of Jazz and Blues though gradual lessons that cover basic theory, scales and chords up to melody and harmony development.

*** Lesson Details ***
The learning process should be, for the most part, fun and based upon a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. Curriculum and lesson plans are based on student's abilities and aspirations with appropriate balance between theoretical and practical work. The lesson material is always carefully chosen, and when necessary, adapted to specific learning needs.

With a proper approach, everyone can learn to play music. Whether you want to pursue a music career, or just play for fun and enjoyment I can help you attain your goals. From basic piano and stringed instruments, to advanced theory, harmony, composition and improvisation to jazz, pop and rock.

Classes are not based on a single source or book. I provide other exercises in printed form for students to keep and take home.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Two high end digital keyboards, two violins, viola, cello, upright bass, bass guitar and amplifier, music stands, stereo equipment with a large CD collection of just any conceivable music style.. Peter got right down to business and it is clear he knows what he is doing. My son is 5 and Peter kept his attention for the full 30 minutes, which is really saying something. At the end of the first lesson, my son was introduced to and could repeat note names; could play a five-note scale; and was learning his right hand from his left. I myself went to Juilliard and Yale for music and am so pleased Peter will be teaching our child(ren).

About Nikola
Nikola M is locally recognized as a guitarist extraordinaire that specializes in teaching and performing progressive rock. Nikola's proven teaching methods have been acknowledged by San Diego's finest musicians and his students range from beginners to highly accomplished professionals.

In addition to stints in various rock bands, studio session work and 16 years of playing experience, Nik's development of teaching guitar was made possible by having achieved a firm musical background throughout his earlier years of performing with orchestra ensembles. As a classically trained brass player, Nikola studied music under college guitar professor Gary Tuttle and award winning SDSC band director/guitarist Phillip S. Marcus.

Nikola's client list has included the likes of music producer and composer Toby Weiss (son of jazz legend and Guitar I
nstitute of Technology co founder Joe Diorio) pro touring guitarist Christopher Eck of the band Masterguru, former students of guitar virtuosos Greg Howe and Joe Stump and many other serious amateur and professional musicians.

*** Lesson Details ***
Heavily influenced by legendary virtuoso guitarists Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen, Nikola's goal as a teacher is to convey his knowledge and expertise of the guitar on to others while emphasizing his own style, which exemplifies speed, intensity and finesse. While his exploits in rock guitar gymnastics continue to attract and inspire new players, Nik's approach to teaching is simplistic, yet highly effective and suitable for young beginners and adults of all ages.

Nikola M's guitar lessons are professional, insightful, progressive and cover a wide and exciting spectrum including:

About David

Guitar

David picked up the guitar when he moved from his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona in 2001 at the age of 19 and hasn't looked back since. 7 years and countless hours of practicing, performing and teaching later, David plays at multiple venues in the Kansas City area while teaching from his studio at Guitar Source in Overland Park,, Southland Conservatory in Raymore, and in home tutoring service Mobile Music Teachers. David also teaches and records from his home studio in Raytown, MO where he offers lessons for home schoolers during the daytime hours.

As a guitarist David is motivated primarily by his passion for music. Growing up he was influenced by classical, jazz, and film scores. Since picking up the guitar he has been inspired by guitarists from such diverse backgrounds as Eric Johnson,
Robben Ford, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Martin Taylor, and James Taylor, to name a few. Today David plays and teaches a variety of different styles, ranging from rock and blues to classical and jazz.

Piano

David started to play the piano after years of playing the guitar. Although a second instrument, it in many ways it was the first as everything David has aspired to on the guitar is pianistic, and he draws much of his inspiration on the instrument from piano players. Correspondingly, it wasn't long before David picked up the piano itself, studying privately first with Tatev Amir and later with Karen, Kushner, Professor of Piano Studies at UMKC. David applies many of the same principles to the piano that he does the guitar including stressing a comprehensive knowledge of music theory, self transcription, ear training and classical technique as well as the more traditional facets of piano pedagogy such as sight reading and rhythm work. Students learn music theory as applied to the keyboard, sight-reading, improvisation and the application of classical technique to modern styles.

As a pianist David is motivated primarily by his passion for music. Growing up he was influenced by classical, jazz, and film scores. Since picking up the piano he has been inspired by pianists from such diverse backgrounds as Art Tatum, Nicolai Lugansky, Oscar Peterson, and Bill Evans among others. Today David plays and teaches a variety of different styles, ranging from rock and blues to classical and jazz.

*** Lesson Details ***
I have extensive experience with all ages and skill levels. I use a curriculum specifically geared towards the guitar, as opposed to more traditional (and inferior) methods that emphasize note reading and piano pedagogy, my method will teach you music theory as it relates to the neck of the guitar and the music that the student are interested in. I am a fairly laid back teacher; we will go at your pace, but I do expect you to work hard.

With piano I use classical literature to develop technique but emphasize the development of a comprehensive understanding of music theory as applied to the keyboard. This includes but is not limited to studies in pop, rock, jazz and other style of contemporary piano.

*** Studio Equipment ***
#1) Dedicated music room seating for parents

#2) Practice/rehearsal room seating for parents

#3) Amplification provided and music stand.

#4) Keyboard/Piano for student use

#5) Broadband network, dual camera, file sharing and the latest technology utilized for online lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide a music stand, my instrument, curriculum materials, music paper materials and amplification (if needed). I expect the student to have their own instrument and potentially amplification. I provide a piano for instruction but I expect my students to have a piano or keyboard for practice at home.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical and jazz guitar, however I am fluent in most styles, including rock, blues, fingerstyle, and miscellaneous. I teach from Jay EuDaly's "Vertical Truth: Chordal Mechanisms for the Guitar" but I also supplement this with a variety of other curriculum.

In piano I specialize in classical piano as well as jazz and pop.

I played bass in jazz combo for about 4 years. I can teach hand techniques, chord progression approaches, and how to solo/slap bass.

About Kory
Hi, my name is Kory, and I am currently an under graduate at Cal Poly Pomona studying Music and Business.

I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, and have taught guitar to dozens of students over the last 4-5 years. I also study recording and production, and have played in Cal Poly's Jazz Combo, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and Concert Choir (For more specific info, you can check out the "experience" section of my page).

In addition, I song-write and record music with my band, "Search For Delicious," a group of close friends from High School. You can check us out on Facebook and Bandcamp, and in the videos below.

My personal philosophy to teaching is that every student is a unique individual. I always start by connecting with the student, and figuring out what interests/goals they have in mind. Then I craft a lesson plan that wil
l help them achieve their goals, and work with their strengths and weaknesses. I practice patience and friendliness, and always do my best to inspire, motivate, and teach hard work/perseverance.

Teaching and music are both passions that I put my all into. I have experience teaching many individuals of a wide range of ages, sexes, backgrounds, and musical experience, and I can guarantee, whether you're a beginner, or a very experienced player, you will see results

I have 25 years experience teaching kids and adults guitar. Also performing live and in the studio.

My objectives: to help students powerfully communicate through the essence of music and aid the development of children and adults by finding their strengths and weaknesses and to develop their skills and show their musical talents. I emphasize basic skills, good sight-reading, guitar technique, and theory.

Lessons are held at either your home, or mine using composers from various time periods that speaks to the individual student.
Also,I do prefer to work weekly with my students.
A beginner lesson may be 10-15 min. for warm-ups and scales, 10-15 min. theory and rest playtime. In three to six months the student will be able to read sheet music and should be able to perform simple songs.

An intermediate lesson has more focus on music and technique from a specific genre. A specialty is preparation for guitar auditions or doing live or studio gigs.

I enjoy teaching children from age 5 up to adults.

Investing in an instructor was the best decision I have made with regard to learning to play. Prior to this, I relied on friends and You Tube videos which doesn't even touch the surface.

I recently started studying with Ahmad and have learned so much in the short time we have worked together. He is genuinely down to earth, patient and a natural at teaching. He understands how to teach. The continuity of his instruction superceded my expectations. After each lesson, he emails a "lesson recap" detailing what we went over during class along with helpful materials to review and practice for the next session. I feel honored to work with an instructor of his caliber. If you're serious about learning, I highly recommend Ahmad. You will learn so much from him and be challenged along the way. His passion for guitar and music in general is awe-inspiring!

First of all, I want to know what are the students wills and objectives in music. Understand why they want to learn music and what are their interests. This is a major thing to me, to know the student. After that, I work my way by giving the student material that will improve their skills and knowledge. This can be done by several methods (classical, Jazz, etc) that I have or by assignments that I will create in order to solve specific problems. I also want to focus on specific music interests that the student have, by giving repertoire and musical examples that will motivated them.

About André
I'm a motivated and good listener teacher who loves to see his students accomplish their objectives. I have a Masters degree in Jazz from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor in Classical Double Bass from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Austria. I'm a active musician, both as a leader of my projects as well as sideman. I have played all around Europe, Egypt as well as much around in the new York area. I have also released two albums under my name, composing all the music in both of them.

I have been teaching for 4 years. Right after finishing my Bachelor degree, I started teaching in two music schools in Portugal: Academia de Amadores de Música (one of the most important music schools in Lisbon) and ESTAL. I have also made part of the staff of the Conservatório de Música of Azores, where I traveled monthly to
teach local students. I have taught double bass, music theory and conducted the school's orchestra. Since I moved to New York, I taught through the Manhattan School of Music Outreach Department, teaching young students about Jazz and Improvisation. I have also taught privately in my home studio, both bass and double bass as well as piano and theory.

I've been playing bass guitar for over 15 years. I've played in several different bands, including punk rock, ska, small jazz combos, and big jazz bands. I have experience playing and recording in just about every style you could think of - Latin, country, jazz, rock, pop, etc.

Whether you're just starting out, or you want to become more professional in your craft - I'm here to guide you. I can show you everything there is to know about the bass guitar - plucking with your fingers, using a pick, slapping, double-thumbing, muting - everything.

If you're looking for a bona fide BASSIST - not just a guitarist who decided they would mark the "bass" box on their profile - I'm your guy!

About Chris
I've been playing music for most of my life. Music is what I do full time, supporting myself, my wife, and my three children. It would be easiest to explain my musical life with a timeline:

Age 9 - piano, drums
Age 10 - cello
Age 12 - guitar, bass guitar
Age 16 - harmonica, mandolin
Age 17 - upright bass
Age 19 - ukulele
Age 21 - baroque cello
Age 22 - baroque violone
Age 24 - Banjo, Renaissance lute

I studied cello performance at three different schools (USF, BYU-Idaho, and BYU). I then switched majors, and studied commercial music at BYU. There I studied sound recording, songwriting, orchestration, film scoring, and jazz. I also played the upright bass and bass guitar with their top jazz ensemble, Synthesis.

Today, I do a mix of several different things - studio recording, performing (piano, bass and cello), arranging,
songwriting, and teaching. I've got experience in all kinds of styles - classical, rock, pop, jazz, Latin, singer-songwriter - and I'd love to pass some knowledge and skills on to you!

Chris is awesome! I went to college with him, and I've always been impressed with his work. He is an extremely talented musician. He has highly refined and improvisational, sightreading and technical skills. As a person, he is really easy to get along with. He's very chill and laid back. I would definitely recommend working with him!
